Seven45 Studios may have a six-string guitar, but your bud'll be playing air drums (video)
You think you'll hit these colored pads? Think again, because while Seven45 Studios' Power Gig rhythm game has you shredding on the sweetest axe we've seen, it doesn't actually come with drums -- you'll be waving sticks in the air instead, while four colored sensors pick up your motions. That makes your drum kit nice and portable, sure, but removes all physical feedback -- and given the history of video game peripherals (look up Sega Activator, please) we kind of wonder what the company's designers were thinking. Or we did, at least, until we saw the video after the break. Seems they're just as confused as we are.

what crap! I mean as a real drummer my self i just want to gag when i see this.
Have you ever played guitar hero with someone who goes crazy on the drums?
It's possibly the most annoying thing EVER. The sound from hitting the stupid plastic sensors is louder than the TV can ever get, and you can't even hear the "real" drum sounds in the game when that person's being so loud.
This is better...till they can figure out how to eliminate annoying sounds from actual touch feedback, I'd rather have the drummer moron in your virtual band be silent.
.
On another note, that's the wost green screen work EVER also.
.
@Bakerdk
This is not about the sound though. Drummers rely on the actual rebound that comes from hitting a drum head. Without it, many things such as rolls are impossible. This is the absolute least realistic drum experience you can have. And when you advertise your game as the most realistic rhythm game out there...well, that just makes you look like one giant ass.
@Hafk
Not sure if u noticed, but plastic discs don't exactly provide the best rebound. The physical drum sets that come with other games are no more realistic.
In the end, drumming in a game is never going to work as well as other instruments will, unless they provide better hardware, it's just annoying.
And yes it is about the sound, it's annoying to hear clack clack clack next to you while ur guitarin' it up. This product might be a fail, but at least it's a silent fail.
.
@Bakerdk
"till they can figure out how to eliminate annoying sounds from actual touch feedback"
...so make everything out of foam? Perhaps you don't understand physics and sound. Turn it up and quit whining.
lol, ur stupid, stop trollin'.
I understand physics and sound, the answer is an actual drum set and a real band, and yeah, even foam would be better.
.
And let me guess, ur that guy I can't stand whacking away like a moron on plastic discs.
brilliant.
.
@Bakerdk You're not invited to my fab RB parties... no rock band martinis for YOO!!!!
@Bakerdk
Have you played in the guitar hero drums? The rubber has the best rebound of any fake drumset I've ever played, and it is -much- quieter than the rockband drums.
@Bakerdk
Please tell me you aren't this stupid. Or at the very least you're trolling.
And yes. Rebound is necessary. Why do you think e-kits have actual drum heads? Because they look cool?
While drum heads on these toy kits could be improved, I doubt you want to spend $500 on the kit alone. If it bothers you so much, go buy an e-kit and mod it to turn it into a controller. And even then you'll still have /some/ level of noise. ALL drums will. That's kinda the point.
@Bakerdk They have figured it out. Its called mesh heads. Its completely silent. Problem is its expensive. You can buy meshhead kits for rockband and GH. They are called Goodwood mods or metalworkz. 2 Different companies that produce completely silent rockband drum.s
my point to all of you is that there is no solution that's not expensive, so yeah, just pay for some real instruments and join a band...more fun anyway.
.
is this a joke someone posted on failblog?
Wow.
Everytime I see guitar hero controllers I think of the game Simon.
Red, blue, blue, yellow, green green

@kwjayhawk
I totally agree
Horrible idea, but the video made me laugh. I'm sure they weren't serious....I hope..
My favourite part is how they point out the snare and hi-hat pads, and then he proceeds to play backwards anyway.
I could say we all agree this thing isnt he best invention in the world!!!!
seriously?
@ericlin
That is what I said
What's with the flamenco dancers?
@WeWantTheFunk Well she dances while his father plays. Stop. She's suddenly beautiful. And we all want something beautiful... man I wish I was bueatiful.
Lame
@Louco
Could put it any other way
What a bad idea. Giantbomb shit on this whole thing on their podcast. Sounds terrible.
@StriderNo9 i think they tried to like it. i felt bad for the company behind it, as some poor soul probably borrowed money to see this bad idea come to light.
@Killing Time I agree. Just misguided.
Haha put joey from slipknot (one of the fastest metal drummers) on it, it would not beable to keep up bet ya :-P
@eddybreezy Are you 12? Because only 12 year olds use the term "gay" in such a blatantly derogatory and homophobic context.
@erasure25 One, I wasn't using it in a homophobic context. Two, its off of Ray William Johnson's Youtube, and finally, who are YOU to be calling me 12?
P.S. Why 12? At 12 they should understand that term better than that. I kinda expect a "What are you 5?" comment.
@eddybreezy
what are you, 33?
(am i doing this right?)
@erasure25 epic fail lol. my comment to yours is underneath
Play the real drums!
@bluesky681
That is soooo true
blue girls ftw !!
