Cowon adds 32GB model to J3 media player lineup
Our one hang-up regarding that ultra-slim, ultra-sexy Cowon PMP? Not enough of it! Up until now, that is. The company's just announced that it will be making a 32GB model available in Japan for ¥29,800 (roughly $325). That is, of course, in addition to the 8GB and 16GB models already on the streets. If that weren't enough, a company called JetMall has the thing listed as "in stock" for $299, available in either white or black. Hit the source link to see for yourself.

@GreenEyez
Can you recommend a good set of cans for me? I am running lossless codec on an ipod 7th gen currently and am planning on building a portable amp as well as hand manufacturing my own high quality line-out cables. I have looked at getting some Grado 325i ' s or possibly Alessandro MS2 headphones. What would you recommend for a person who listens to ALL kinds of music and has his hearing intact (I can consistently differentiate between codecs and bitrates using my current paltry setup). My brother recently obtained some Audio Technica cans but I found that they lacked bass. What do you think is the best can under $350-400 ?
@summerboy18
Look, I'm sorry your Nexus One is a "fucking puece of a shit" but this doesn't mean you should take it out on everyone else. It would probably have helped if you bought the correct version of the phone. It likely would help also if you took off your rose tinted glasses.
@summerboy18
that's like saying that you would rather drive a corolla or civic even when you have a choice of quattroporte, an xj, or vantage?
@New Reformation
Check out Hippo VB's....are you ready for the price? Under $100. Don't laugh - do research. They are highly rated and pack serious bass. Perhaps too much according to some...but I have these and they are aural bliss.
@Chaosdivine
Then again, you said CANS and not IEMs...whoopsie. Sort of tired at the moment and have reading comprehension issues...
At this rate, I predict Cowon will have WIFI in their MP3s by 2025.
@JakeInDC
That's like being disappointed that your new car doesn't drive on water. You said it yourself, it's a personal *media* player, why would it need wifi?
nevermind thought I read PMP not MP3; anyway it's a dedicated PMP with no use for wifi.
I want this so bad, but I just can't see a reason to upgrade from my COWON s9 unless something breaks.
I want it SOOOOO bad though.
@summerboy18
I highly doubt whether you have Shure SE530. I own Shure SE530, Sennheiser IE8, iPod Touch 2G, and Sony Walkman S545! I can tell the difference between the two mp3 players PRETTY easily! HUGE difference (since I use high-end earphones). So, either you are DEAF, or your mind is pre-occupied with iThings. But I am very sure you don't own a Shure SE530. How can someone even say that the difference is marginal using such a high-end in-ear monitor. And, we all cannot carry our boom boxes everywhere. Therefore, mp3 players are useful even for the music-maniacs and pundits.
uneducated consumer too stupid to understand the utility of devices with functionality? Shock and awe. Apple shill too? The gag just write themselves now.
D2 still rolling strong here, and I'll likely turn back to cowon for my next mp3 player. Long live good sound.
@hated one
Nokia, no presence? Baaaaahahahahahaha
I am so getting one this time !
I've just gottan a D2 when the S9 came out, but this time I'm gonna buy one !!!
Gonna wait till the price drops though, a bit steep for now : )
BTW, the 32GB moddel has been available for 10 days or so now.
@summerboy18
"Again, when it comes to portable media players, whether its for music or video, portability comes FIRST !"
You do realise the S9/J3 are smaller and lighter than the iPhone and so are therefore more portable, not to mention lasting a lot longer on battery.
And why did you bother spending money on a pair of 530s if you can't tell the difference between 320 and Flac?
@hated one
Another Cowon post, another pointless comment on docks and apps from this tosser. I was suprised to see it on page 2. Do you just sit there hitting F5 waiting for a post on Cowon to post the same drivel?
great, now bring on the 64gb s9 or j3 i've been waiting for so long
I want to like the J3 it has so much going for it but I don't like flash UI. They could make it so much better and ever make the batter last even longer if they used a language like C/C++.
@Bash23 It does use C/C++ brother, so I've been informed. I've got it and it's snappier than an ornery croc. I love this thing!
@ellocomotive Are you sure? It seem to be using flash and there doesn't seem to be a SDK.
I wonder if that is micro SD or micro SDHC. I wish for a full SDHC though like on my D2. oh well still better than S9
@ JakeInDC. Haha. I'd like wifi too even if it would have an impact on battery. Oh well, a friend stepped on my S9 so i got a perfect excuse for getting the J3 and just ordered it :-)
