HTC Liberty for AT&T revealed during routine testing video
Oh, AT&T -- you can't post up a video detailing the testing process for Android phones and not expect us to notice that your guys are waving around the heretofore unannounced HTC Liberty, which was leaked by Android Central on Sunday. Honestly, now. It's hard to tell much from the video apart from the fact that this thing is running Sense and has a flush face with capacitive buttons along the bottom, but the leak says the screen res is just 320 x 480, which is somewhat less than awesome. Of course, AT&T's Android lineup has been relatively low-end so far, so maybe we're not so surprised, but we're hoping this thing is a little more Desire than Legend, if you catch us. Video after the break.

Mr. Blurry Cam extreme edition!
@Snarf101 ENHANCE!
@There Will Be Blood
You forgot to add "ZOOM IN" before that...
@who said what Already zoomed in.
@There Will Be Blood
Someone get Gizmodo to enhance it!
But wait, then they'll put a watermark on it..

@Snarf101
what an ironic name for an AT&T phone...
@Snarf101
So basically it's the HTC Legend... if not worse?
@Snarf101 1 big ad.
@werty1432k I guess all these tests/simulation and they still can't fix the dropped calls. WOW
@skyblaze i thought the "Intruder" name was also ironic. _what business does a real Android phone have on it&T?_
@skyblaze What an ironic name for an Android phone headed to ATT. If in fact they call it the Intruder. ATT better get on this Android train or they are going to be left behind. I for one am planning my exit.
@Lowest Ranks They don't say anything about FIXING the issues on this video. Maybe they only have the budget for testing, not fixing.
Android phones are junk.
@plbelanger loool
@eltoro2827
Your post is junk!
@gigagrunt sorry guy, they really are junk.
@eltoro2827
Why do fanboys insist on poisoning every story?
@eltoro2827 Hmm.. was just calculating distances using google maps, entering the values generated into my mileage program (I switched back and forth multiple times all without losing my place, just switching the from and to address so I didn't have to enter the start address each time) while listening to Pandora. Let's see, that's three apps running smoothly at the same time, but... my Nexus one with Froyo is junk. I'll keep that in mind next time the internet goes down at my house and I have to use it for a wireless router.
@plbelanger Thats cause I'm typing u and not speaking to u. Maybe u need to check your eyes.
@everyone does because their a mix of fanboy and troll... they have to post in anything they dont like and also show their support for something else and not admit it's flaws.
@plbelanger I guess the iPhone owners have the iPenis in their mouths and the Android owners have the DroidDong up their A$$.....you're all fanboys. The whole lot of ya!
@plbelanger
LOL
@eltoro2827
I don't agree that it's junk. I tried my first android phone, and it just wasn't for me. I still wouldn't say it's junk.
@plbelanger the fact that your post is the highest ranked comment on the thread says everything about Android fans. A bunch of frustrated, sex starved losers. Never seen anyone with a leadership role in any company using an Android device. Comments like yours says a LOT about the Android community and what it represents. Shame on you and your ilk (that made you the highest ranked comment)!
@JustinMann
actually most of what you said can be done just as easily on iPhone OS 3.0... 4.0, which many devices are already on and others will ge officially on the 21st, makes your point completely moot.
@everyone does
Yeah, check every Apple post. The level of intellect is pretty poor, all these angry little men hating on products they've never used, and bitter at a company they don't understand, making sweeping generalisations that anyone who buys an Apple product is a fanboy. All because they're stuck with a 2 year old G1, and mommy won't let them upgrade
@jaffreywali
You got all that from a high ranked comment? I don't know how you can even be certain that he owns an Android phone. Much less how you know that all Android users don't have leadership roles in their workplace.
@jellotime91 Not unless it's jailbroken. I can do all this by default, without invalidating my warranty. Anyway, I was simply refuting the claim that Android handsets are junk. They aren't and by acknowledging the fact that jailbroken phones have nearly the same feature set you have placed the (jailbroken) iPhone in a category slightly below junk, which puts the standard iPhone in an even lower category. Congrats! Of course, I suspect most of this is lost on you.
Now, despite the proclamations that you have made, I state that the iPhone is not junk, in fact it's kind of nice, but I like Android better and the ecosystem is not closed, so I'll be sticking with it. Have a nice day.
@JustinMann. How many apps can you get on that sucker before you run out of memory? Then you've got to root and be apps2sd.
@Trick202 Actually, with froyo you can install them on the memory card... so if you run out of space, you simply put in a bigger card. :-)
@InternetPolice it's called observation and logic.
1. Never observed a person in leadership role wield an Android device. This is my observation.
2. That he is an Android fan can be easily confirmed from his post. That in order to be highest ranked a lot of people think like his is just obvious.
It's elementary....
@jaffreywali
I have seen just as many workplace people using Android phones as iPhones.
Neither even close to Blackberries.
You are worse than a fanboy anyway. You're making huge generalizations about people based entirely on their phone's operating system. While you're at it, how about you share your opinions on race and gender?
@jaffreywali
So, you're saying that you meet dozens of people with leadership roles, from several companies, many that are in separate fields of business, on a daily basis. Even seeing what type of phone they use?
Yeah. Sure.
@jaffreywali My observation is that in our office 75% are carrying Droid devices. The rest are carrying Blackberries, with exception of 1% carrying an iPhone. This is a professional legal office.
all this carrier crap is junk
What's that dude's email address. He needs a good talking to about timely releasing Android devices on a network
@jj1814
They don't blur the HTC Aria/Liberty
but they are blurring a phone in the testing box. Is this a new HTC phone as well? Why would it be the Aria if they aren't blurring it in the rest of the video?
Why would AT&T get high end android phones? It give consumers a choice between the iPhone and something else, and we wouldn't want that now would we AT&T?
@Slick
At&t will get high end Android phones (And ones with access to the android market) When Apple signs another carrier to sell the iPhone lol.
@Slick I'm thinking maybe AT&T cannot simply brush off Android as it once did.
@Slick
Well the Samsung i897 is coming and most likely the Dell Streak. I'd say those 2 devices will offer more choices over the iPhone. Just a heads up though, most are still gonna buy the iPhone. It doesn't matter what else they offer as people in general (that don't even know what Engadget is) love their iPhones and won't give them up. My gf is one of those people. She texts, used FB, lives off of her calendar, and likes her apps. Nothing else has the same intuitive ui and ease of use. Maybe instead of everyone bitching, the manufacturers need to step up even more.....oh, and learn how to market those great devices.
@Waltah
Really, that's odd, cause on my lowly eris I live off my calendar / gmail, to check facebook regularly (and have my contacts completely integrated in w/ facebook). And I too enjoy my apps, only all of them have been free up to this point. Gosh your girlfriend and I have a lot in common - have her send me them digits, and I'll show her the little man, the little green man.
@Slick
oh you bastard lol
but honestly he had it coming.
I'd like to see an Android clamshell style phone.
One word FRAGMENTATION.
@Megazine One word: shut the hell up. I lied about it being one word.
But seriously. Shut the hell up.
@The Madman "STFU" -- there you go, one word!
Does this mean that AT&T employees will all get their houses raided too? Oh no, of course not, HTC actually LIKE publicity.
Yea i know, leaks where always fun and exciting things, only when the iPhone came to be it turned into a mass murder horror movie where noone was sure if just witnessing it over the safety of the net was safe anymore
AT&T's Android lineup compared to Verizon's is like MLS vs World Cup
