Best Buy will never run around or hurt you.
@Rick Astley
is this that awesome new android phone?
@Rick Astley
God damnit, that joke is so old.
Also, Apple, you may have finally caught me in your net.
@Rick Astley
And their sales reps "will never give you up" on extended warrenties
@Rick Astley
Not sure if you ever noticed, but Best Buy are strangers to love
@Rick Astley
They might not hurt you physically, but BB employees love nothing more than making your finances cry like a baby.
@Rick Astley
But their "on sale" prices will "let you down".
@The Advanced Kind
Give me something that's not the iPhone.
@benthe1
Beggars can't be choosers.
@who said what
sorry, I should have said, "Apple sucks and I will never buy any of their products because they are Nazis."
@benthe1 Look at that cute little screen, is that a Cellular Watch? I need a magnifying glass for that petite little pixi...
How does the warranty work for iphones at Best Buy? Can I return it and exchange it if I have a dead pixel the way I can with my macbook? Can I return it if I drop it?
@StriderNo9 You can go to the Apple store and they can replace it for free if you have a dead pixel.
@StriderNo9 How would you know if you have a dead pixel if you can't see them? HAHA.
@Oversteer
OMFG! LMAO! Would you know if all the pixels were dead?
@StriderNo9
the "warrenty" would all go through Apple.best buy can't touch Apple products unless you buy the Geek Squad Black Tie Protection plan which is 14.99 a month. Under that, you can bring it in and we will send it off to the service center but a previously repaired model will come in for you in 3 to 5 business days. It is termed as a "refreshed" phone.
@StriderNo9 Does Best Buy let you change your ATT account (eg renew contract) If you are an authorized person on your account, or do you have to be the account holder?
@Behnruw
Thats absolutely PURE GARBAGE.
Just another scam brought to you from Best Buy...
@BrookLynnsFinest Well considering AT&T is going to 13.99 a month with a 200 deductible, and still give you a refurbished phone. The 14.99 doesn't sound that bad. Applecare does not cover accidental damage like Best Buys and AT&T does.
@KeeganX
The part I don't like is the refurbished/refreshed bullshit.
I want a plan where if I damage my current iPhone I get a NEW one...brand spanking new. Not some garbage refurb...
Yeah I know that doesn't happen anymore which sucks.
@BrookLynnsFinest
How about the crazy idea of just taking care of your first one. It's not like it is an impossible task. Especially with products like the invisible shield and otterbox cases
@Oversteer That was genius!!!
I need to figure out a game plan on this. I need to get 4 of them. Does anyone know if this is going to be a problem if I go into Best Buy and try to reserve them?
@ebgolfin Everything I've read in regards to AT&T's policy is that it's 1 per eligible upgrade line for existing customers and 1 per person for new customers. If you have 4 people on your plan and all are eligible for the upgrade then you should be fine, otherwise you won't be able to.
That display is GODLY.
I hope we see it on other phones..
@SolidSnake
cool concept, but 3.5in is far from Godly.
While we know that the iPhone 4 will sell like crack at a crack house. If ATT. Had not moved up people upgrade dates there would be a lot more iPhone on the shelves here in America
Am I the only one that thinks that display looks so unbelievably small?
@dswatson83
no, you're not.
@dswatson83
While the display is smaller than all the new android phones it is still plenty big. The bezel is a different story. That is just. A lot of wasted space
@dswatson83
It is ridiculously small in this day and age but i have no doubt that it will sell by the truckload.
@hyundaifanscom Aye it's very small, however Apple seems to pulling away from this screensize and spec arms race and focusing more on battery life.
Although this screen does use 30% more power than Samsung's AMOLED, but then again the Apple display is readable outside. I think Steve was being too proud when he used the IPS.
@dswatson83
Believe it or not, 3.5" is a pretty big screen to keep in your pocket. Yes, they have 4.3" screens available on other phones, but it begins to make the phone look a little silly and I don't think it would be a good fit for something like an iPhone, which is meant to appeal to a much wider audience. In any case, I still think the screen of my phone looks "big" whenever I pull it out of my pocket to use it, so I have to laugh at the people who call it "ridiculously" small. Heck, it's only .2" less diagonally (yet is wider) than top selling phones like the Droid Incredible. I guess that phone is ridiculously small too.
As for the bezel, it's something I love about my phone. It allows you to hold the phone in landscape mode and use your entire thumb to grip the side of the phone without obscuring the screen. It's very comfortable for playing games, as well as just for holding the phone when using it for web browsing or using to show pictures to friends. I wish we'd see this design in more devices, because it shows attention to detail with regards to the ergonomics of the device.
@ebgolfin
I agree with you on the bezel, you really need it to hold the phone without accidentally touching the screen. But there is alot of wasted space below and even some above the screen. If they could get away from that aspect ratio, they could use some of that space without making the phone too wide. For a phone, 3.5" may be plenty large. But as web/data photo/video use become the primary use for these smartphones, 3.5" is struggling to get the job done.
@dswatson83
Well, the top and bottom are the same. I really like these bezels. They are perfect thumb width and allow a very solid grip of the phone with the thumbs and forefingers in landscape mode. I'd be very disappointed if this design went away in favor of something with a smaller bezel, which, while looking cool, would also make the phone less comfortable for me to use. That bezel is very functional, and I am always in favor of a functional design rather than one that is purely aesthetic.
I really don't see the iPhone growing much larger in future versions. The size of the 3GS is just about at the maximum for what I would consider to be a comfortable phone to carry everywhere with you, and making it thinner with the 4th iteration will make it even more pocketable. Making it bigger WILL alienate some customers, because phones like the EVO or HD2 look over-the-top. That's cool, but it's not everyone's cup of tea.
Also, they aren't going to change the aspect ratio (again, something I'm thankful for), so I can't see the screen growing by more than .1-.2" at the maximum in future versions.
It's very strange, I have placed the iPhone next to 3.7" screens like the Incredible, and the Incredible's screen felt claustrophobic because it was more narrow. Perhaps because it's something I'm used to, but the wider 3.5" screen on the iPhone felt larger and more usable than the 3.7" on the Incredible.
@ebgolfin imho, the only time iphone screens seem 'small' are when you try to watch 16:9 (or 2.35:1) videos on them. Screen width is otherwise fairly in line w/ the 4.3" phones, and as far as I've noticed you don't really miss the lopped off top/bottom during normal use. I rarely mess with portable video anyway (when I do, it's on the laptop), so I certainly don't miss the extra bulk.
The shack is also carrying the iphone and doing the presale as well so if anyone wants to avoid lines goto the shack!!! there are more locations of the shack then there are of best buy
@ckuldude More locations = Less phones per location though.
@ckuldude
How much would I have to pay in order to pre-order it?
@Talutha
Not really the shack is recieving all the preorders we can get and lets say a store gets 300 pre orders then the store will have 600 phones
@Eggie197
50$ deposit and we are taking trade ins iphone 3g will get 100 and 3gs will get 200
@ckuldude did tradein price drop for the 3g 16g? I just went there last week and they say I can get $180 for mine.
Can you guys show a picture of the NOT fugly iPhone?
I mean lets see some real pics of the Black iPhone for crying out loud.
@BrookLynnsFinest
Yeah I noticed Apple's got that one under lock and key... :S They refuse to publish pictures of the black iphone... dammmit!
apple.com/iphone
@BrookLynnsFinest
Yeah I would rather have the black version as well. Yes you will see fingerprints easier but it won't get as dirty as the white one. Now I have a tough choice ahead of me. I work at a Wal-Mart with an AT&T corporate store and Shack within walking distance. Then there is a Best Buy not too far from my apartment. Plus our store will be carrying the 16GB version. Now I'm faced with what store I should pick mine up from.
@BrookLynnsFinest Personally I find the black easier on the eyes when viewing content. The bright white can be distracting and very reflective in daylight.
No surprises? How boring is that?!
The pre-keynote time was way more exciting.
You get a 30 day return/exchange and it still has 1 year Apple warranty. They also offer a protection plan that covers it from accidental damage and other things
Does anyone know if this is happening at every best buy or only certain ones? I ask this because the closest Apple store is 1.5 hours away, my att stores aren't getting them until July, so Best Buy is my only option. Please let me know!
@apbaseball wouldnt it be easier to just call up your local store? we have no idea where you live so no one here can help you besides yourself...
