there is no point to chrome o/s just like there is no point to linux ... i downloaded and installed the new ubuntu on my netbook ... linux is still as lame as it was back in redhat's golden year.
waist of code, waste of time ... people need an o/s they can actually run stuff on.
@darthgault - Get real. I have four netbooks in my house. All of them run Win7 and Ubuntu Netbook Remix. Three of those are used by my kids. They LOVE UNR. They use it all the time. It is way easier for them to use, and I rarely have to help them with things on it like I do with Windows.
8 year old twin boys and a 12 year old girl can use Ubuntu just fine. I guess they are just smarter than you.
You just accidentally proved my point ... it is a simple kid like interface that can't run any useful software ... i doubt kids are going to be running Photoshop, word, various adobe products, or any real games.
One can't be professionally productive on Linux ... it’s uncomplicated for your kids but useless for most adults.
I didn't say you were stupid for using it which of course you stooped to ... it sounds like it fits your uncomplicated needs.
@darthgault You are mistaking a robust OS with one that can run software like Photoshop, and MS Office (although there is open office which is just as good).
I am primarily a W7 users and I love Windows, I also love Linux. Neither are kids toys. UNR has a very simple interface that would be good for kids and everyday use. Other Distros (I like Gentoo) are FAR more robust than W7 and much more customizable which makes W7 look like a kids toy. Then there is Ubuntu which is right on par with W7.
The ONLY difference, in terms of usability, is the number of applications it can run. Hopefully Chrome OS will change that a bit with their web apps and possibly cracking open the market for Linux software. Darthqault, please don't be so narrow-minded about Linux. I too prefer W7, however, Linux is NOT just a simple and unprofessional OS. After reading your posts you clearly know very little about Linux.
