ATT doesn't care about Android one bit, nor are they going to do too much to give competition to their cash cow. Is be surprised if this is worth buying.
@topheriffic I sort of agree. AT&T is not pushing Android like Verizon is. Then again, the Death Star has exclusivity with the phone that shall not be named.
AT&T doesn't need Android as bad as Verizon or Sprint. But, since Android has caught up in the past six months to the iphone, AT&T needs to get with the program and not let Android get too far away.
“HTC Aria is the first of several smartphones in our Android portfolio to run the 2.1 platform,” said Jeff Bradley, senior vice president, Devices, AT&T Mobility and Consumer Markets.
@zephxiii Verizon has a huge marketing campaign centered around the Droid family of devices. I can't say I've seen one ATT commercial for an Android phone and I don't anticipate seeing them for this. We will see though.
@jiffy It really is scary that so many of you think that Android is one phone company. It is not. The Android is a free OS that is being pimped by 3rd party cell phone makers. And those cell phone makers are competing with each other. I have never heard anyone mention if LG is outperforming Samsung, ala Android. It is always Android is beating iphone. I would like to know if one particular model of an LG Android based cell phone has beaten iphone. But when you throw in HTC, MOTO, Samsung and god knows who else and the sheer number of cell phone iterations they conceive, then yeah, as a whole they beat the iphone in sales. But each company is mutually exclusive. So the only thing that is moving is really hardware. Hardware that is out on ebay as fast as the new stuff hits the market. I read where a guy went from the Moto Droid, to the N1 and now the Incredible. In less than a year. That is Android beating iphone. LOL! Dude went and spent a lot of money running after hardware with Android stamped on it.
You are aware that 2.2 is NOT yet generally available on any device yet right? Why do people keep up with this despite being told again and again? I know some folks with Nexus 1's have taken the leap early, but it;s still not out.
This is a good midrange phone but to me that exclusivity agreement is right around the corner and ATT will need to prepare with some higher end android devices. It's already proven that android is here to stay but in a little while ATT's only bargaining chip will soon be available to all networks.

@aubreyq uh from the looks of it they'll be pushing android pretty hard soon (big old dell streak, big ol samsung, garman android)....

@jiffy and @zephxiii You guys make good points. Forgot all about the Dell Streak, and indeed there are some more Android phones coming out.
This Aria, though, has caught my eye, and for $130, I might bite.
@aubreyq Also did you not see the:

In the press release?
FAIL.

@zephxiii Alright since you replied respectively, sorry for being a dick!

@pspitts
All three of those phones had better hardware than the iPhone. Even your precious A4 cant keep up with android phones running 2.2.
@Tes I don't recall ever mentioning 2.2......

@lv2bll54
I thought the exclusivity agreement between ATT and Apple was a 5 year deal? That gives ATT 2 more years of exclusivity.
@lv2bll54
The exclusivity agreement was announced to be until 2012. How is that right around the corner?
