Kinect in the flesh!
There she blows. Microsoft's Kinect (formerly known as Project Natal), real at last. Of course this unit isn't on or doing anything, but it is striking a sexy pose next to some other black Microsoft hardware. Hopefully it'll have an Xbox 360 Slim to hang out with after this keynote is over!

@DegreeThis: I'm pretty sure this is the one with Valhalla.
As someone who has been playing console games since the NES days, and who owns a 360, PS3, and Wii, I just can't get excited over this.
The Wii already feels like a gimmick. Mario Galaxy 2 is great, but I'd still rather use a regular controller instead.
I don't know. I just don't see the appeal to jumping around my living room like an idiot just to play a video game. It's fun with a group of people, but that's about it.
I think the yoga stuff is actually a killer app. Not necessarily for this crowd, but I think that opens the idea that there are some things that just can't be done without this kind of IR recognition and tracking, vs any other kind of control systems.
Maybe it really does end with body-technique training kind of stuff and it becomes a nice. I doubt it though, I think there is more to be discovered in the coming year.

couldn't fit my opinion in this box :)
I just watched the tech demo on the engadget show and I had a thought. If someone had no legs/arms, would it realise that or would it stick the dots where the legs would have been and just not have them move...?
