Apple iPhone 4 pre-orders are go, unlocked in UK!

You know what to do... unless you wanted the iPhone 4 in white which is unavailable for pre-order. Pricing for a SIM-free and unlocked iPhone 4 is set at £499 (16GB) or £599 (32GB) in the UK or €629 (16GB) and €739 (32GB) in France. Pre-orders are limited to two per customer.

P.S. The 8GB iPhone 3GS is out for those of you looking to keep it old school at $99 on a two-year AT&T contract.

Update: Looks like Apple's servers are struggling to keep up. For what it's worth, we hear that US pre-orderers are having more success with the AT&T link found in the source below.

omg, its STILL completely fuked over? Jesus christ, I waitied last night till fukin 1am, stayed up untill 2:30am trying to get mine through, and now I wake up at 8:30 am and its STILL fuked up. Fuking pathetic AT&T. (This is not apples problem, their website works fine)

Here's my experience:

Couldn't do it online or over the phone. Went to AT&T store #1. They tried for an hour to get it process but everything was frozen in their system. Went to store #2 and the same thing happened, except this time they had gotten an email form corpo telling them to process it manually. Sooo, they filled out paperwork and manually ran credit card and said they will process it today and call me to let me know. Fingers crossed.

Also, both stores said that the white wouldn't be available until later this summer. Just my experience. It's done but I am not confident that it will happen until I get a confirmation call and confirmation email.

Reguardless of upgrade or what, select NEW LINE

This will then ask you for your apple id password,


This will then confirm your reservation for the phone you picked.

I just was able to go through the Apple Store app on my 3G, it wasn't working earlier but for some reason went through and I have a 32 gb black one ready for pick up in Columbus on the 24th. So try the apple store app again..

I called the local AT&T Store, they said 'Oh yeah, come in and pre-order.' It takes me half an hour to get there....'Ooh, I'm sorry, the system just crashed, we can't pre-order. Do you want us to call you when it comes back up?'

I said, 'Fuck it, what's the point? Everything's crashed.'

Then I see Best Buy about a block away and figure 'What the hell? Why not try?'

I get to Best Buy and lo and behold I'm the very first Best Buy pre-order. Now, I know that it may not pan out, but I'm in for a 32Gig Black at Best Buy - I'm first in line with a '1' on my receipt...So unless Best Buy gets NOTHING on the 24th - I should be cool.

FINISHED FINALLY OMFG YAY!

After 6 straight hours of attempts and seeing countless "Session expired", "Unable to Connect", and I'm pretty sure I even saw a screen that said "Apple and AT&T have teamed up to wtfpwn your life today." I read these comments and found MtBikeSc's comment about the iphone Apple Store app trick (here it is in case you can't find it):

If you look at the email it states that I have an iphone reserved in my name but the cost is $699.99. Mike stated that he called and checked to see if this was alright and I WENT TO THE APPLE STORE IN THE RESERVATION EMAIL AND THEY SAID IT WASN'T A PROBLEM. Hopefully more people pick up on this so I can video chat with you all :D

@iAtoria I even talked to the store manager at the Apple store in charleston sc to make sure, entry level nerd wouldnt work for me. I got his name and his email to make sure im in the good, im not going to miss out, Esp when the apple store is 3 hours away.

I just went to best buy and preordered a white 32gb iphone 4 without a problem they say they will call a couple days before the 24th and set up an appoitnment time to come in and get your phone. it took about 5 minutes. I didnt wake up till 12 and they have white while everyone else has been awake all night fighting with the computer and being pissed about know white iphones for preorder. also the $50 deposit they do they put on a gift card anf you use that the day u get your phone.

@oops Best Buy just called me and told me that they just had a confrence and apple told them that the white will not be able to be ordered till august but switched my order to the black iphone without a problem and said im guaranteed one on launch day. Also they said they wll be calling people this weeknd to set up time times that day to come in and do your upgrade

its great that apple finally released unlocked but the price is pretty high when compared to other brands with similar hardware etc.

have never really understood why iphone users pay a premium for that device. sure its nice but there are equally nice mobiles at a much cheaper price.
