Apple Store goes down as iPhone 4 pre-order prep enters final stages

The Apple Store has just gone into maintenance mode globally in preparation for the launch of iPhone 4 pre-orders, and our readers seem intent on bringing down our tip inbox as well. Steady yourselves, chaps (and ladies), the fun starts when the Store goes back up so let's pace ourselves with all the excitement. We'll alert you as soon as that happens, but for now, let's go easy on the old tip jar, eh? It's not made of Gorilla Glass, you know.

Update: AT&T's online portal is showing an iPhone 4 pre-order front end, but is yet to offer users the actual option to order the phone up. See a screenshot of it after the break.

Kind of entertaining that the store says Pre-Order on the 3GS. I wonder how many people are going to make the mistake of upgrading to a 3GS and killing their upgrade eligibility =)

Looks like Apple's site is somewhat dependent on AT&T's systems... which are down at the moment. So no pre-orders from either site for the time being (AT&T flat-out refuses with an error or maintenance message, Apple's site just mysteriously fails out at "retrieving account information".

AT&T Store is currently down: Giving me the following error msg: "P1015: We're sorry, but we are experiencing a system error that prevents us from completing your request. For non iPhone related upgrades, please call Customer Care at 1-888-867-4384 and provide the error number at the beginning of this message." So... if you're ordering an iPhone, you must be part of the problem, which is why there doesn't appear to be an option...?

Just preordered at at&t store.
I kept my old plan as is and bought a new phone only. Only black color aailable.
Shipping date will be 24, 25 or 26 june.
You will be notified by email for tracking info.
Once recieved call the 800 number provided on your reciept to activate SIM.
Then attach to itunes and sync.

Just ordered mine! It took since 8 o'clock switching between apples site and AT&T but I finally got through! Never had an iPhone or been on AT&T though, hoping the service isn't as bad as everyone says lol.

Man, I must love the iPhone because I've never said, "FUCK THIST STUPID ASS SHIT!!!!! AND, FUCK THE IPHONE!!!!!!" And, yet still tried to pre order the iPhone for another 3 hours........Oh.......and mysteriously I woke up to find my Verizon internet turned off. I had to unplug the damn thing and wait 5 minutes before I was able to start trying..........V-bags!!!
