I hope they've done a good job on the drivers. I can imagine they're still behind Ubuntu and Windows, but any progress is good progress.
@HikaKao couldn't have said it better...
AWESOME. now i just need a mac
@JonNRb
I want a mac mini, they look so tiny and yet so powerful..
There has to be something bad about them.. Anyone??
@uckApple
The price, heck the MacBook with the same specs is only $300 more.
@uckApple
easy... they arnt actually that powerful, and a bit pricy.
How about that?
@uckApple The only thing I could have wanted was a new i5 instead of an old C2D from 2008.
@HikaKao ...most users can't tell.
@fast I said it, because good OpenGL drivers have become more important since the launch of Steam for Mac. If a system update can magically conjure some more FPS, I'm happy.
@HikaKao
This isreallly weird. I hope my graphics did not just fail, cause after updating my screen starts flickering very badly, like i can see the black, and after a while the screen freezes
@Hell Angel
Im using the last generation 13 inch macbook pro 2.53...
@Hell Angel Eh? That's unusual. º_º Ask on the Apple forums or call Apple maybe?
@Prospero For how big they are they pack plenty of punch.
@Prospero
Have you even used one?
My iMac is way faster than any PC I've ever played with...
And believe me, I've spent HOURS on brand new ones, boring myself to tears. They just don't compare.
@AppleDragon
you must have been playing with some crappy pc since you "spent HOURS on brand new ones, boring myself to tears"
by the way, new doesn't mean faster. If you buying a new slow pc, its still slow. PCs are still way faster at the same price.
Now its time to start gettin this on ma dell PC :)
@uckApple It now includes Core i5/i7 mobile support :-)
@uckApple The update broke my HP Hackintosh, but other people at the InsanelyMac forum are posting positive results. I managed to revert back to 10.6 and now I'm trying to update one more time to 10.6.4. Crossed fingers!
I wish these updates weren't so F**cking big.
@Teslanaut
well it's a bit like a service pack so it's to be expected tbh
@Teslanaut True. 641 mb update on my side. I'm glad we've got flatrate at my place.
@Teslanaut Strange, 315.5mb here.
@iMiiTH
When you go to download it, it polls your computer for specific OS version number and updates. It's a full update so it will update you if you're a few versions behind, or if you're up to date it won't need to and it will be smaller.
@Teslanaut
I think I'll download this over 3G, just to piss O2 off.
@Teslanaut
IIRC Apple doesn't do a lot of diff patching where they simply modify the currently installed file -- they delete it and replace it with the new version. Even if very little has changed. Downside is bigger updates, upside is less moving parts in the update process
@UptownDonkey
In other words they used a simplistic and bloated method to update files instead of using smaller patches which download and install much faster. I guess making people wait for 20 minutes to download and install updates means it 'just works', if they are that lazy with a simple updater how lazy are they with the rest of the os?
it's a trap!!!!
As soon as I can install a Mac OS update to windows I will let you know of anything crazy.
boooooring
What about ios4 ??? Lol
I wonder if it fixes the Adobe issue that broke in 10.6.3?
wait.... I thought Mac's were so much better than PC's and they did need updates?????
Perhaps.... Could it mean..... there OS ISN'T PERFECT???? :o
@cabose369 As perfect as your spelling, punctuation and grammar. In other words, it's ok, but not good enough to sit idly by criticising.
@cabose369 You thought wrong Noob.
@RDM
It was sarcasm.... duh.
@cabose369
How was it even sarcasm? The sarcastic twist is that they do need updates, like every other machine on the planet.
How is that witty?
@cabose369 Frick dude, we'd still be using Windows 3.1 and OS 6 and IE 4 if it weren't for updates. Have you been under a rock for the past 20 years?
My Macbook is running HOT. Really warm. I will repair disk permissions and report back.
@cutepuppyz
I dont care.
OK, repaired permissions and the heat prob is gone. EVERYTHING OK! :)
Wow, this is really important news, I'm so glad you told us.
It runs flash !
@Damg2rd Now I want a Mac!
@Damg2rd
?? Nutjob.
Anyway...I'd rather it automatically installed the Click to Flash plugin. My internet experience has never been smoother ;)
@Damg2rd How can you downrank him? This was funny :D
Everything is fine here.
Mine says 641MB for MAC OSX update 10.6.4.
Whats yours??
@imsatasia 639MB !!!
And still without support for the Chipset of MacBook 7,1 on Fedora and Ubuntu!
On MacBook Pro 7,1 it's still can not native installation of Ubuntu or Fedora! bad bad bad.
@zenzip ... What?
Once more, in English this time.
@zenzip
If you're waiting for an OSX update to give you Ubuntu and Fedora chipset drivers, you'll be waiting a long time.
It's open-source: the community will take care of it, right?
