Take this with a mouthful of NaCl, but
Droid-Life has it on authority that Motorola's
Droid X is gearing up to make the
Droid Incredible seem a bit less Incredible next month. The big-screened unicorn-of-a-smartphone is purportedly set for a July 19th launch on America's most subscribed-to carrier, with ads to start popping up on the 18th. We're expecting to hear something official out of VZW next week, but till then, we'd suggest talking your current Android phone down from that ledge. Broken egos can lead to desperate measure, homie.
I have a friend who just bought the incredible, but the evo and me are sitting pretty
@The Geek too bad verizon's basic voice+ unlimited data + messaging plans are beyond overpriced...
@The Geek I have a friend who bought the incredible this last weekend. I have to say though the size of the incredible is great. Not sure if I'd have him switch. I have an EVO as well, so I don't care for myself personally, but the EVO to me is at the edge of how big I'd want my phone to be and this is even bigger.
@donatom3 i thought that at first, the only problem with the size is that if i'm wearing basketball shorts which i often do, and i sprint the phone WILL fall out of my pocket
@The Geek I personally think its just too big to be a cellphone. I'm getting the iPhone 4.
@phinn whatever's good for you, personally not a fan of iOS, but i hope you enjoy it
@The Geek
In a world that doesn't - Droid does!
@The Geek
No worries: I'll take the Sense on my Incredible over Moto blur any day of the week since I'm not a teen on facebook.
@steel that's what rooting if for : P
Unlikely it'll hit sales in July.
We haven't even seen the final build, proper multiple leaks or spec list yet, just guesses, inconsistent claims and a few shots of protos.
Or then Moto has really learned how to keep their lid tight, which I seriously doubt :)
@Yankees Win it is actually cheaper if you use your google voice app afor messaging. Not to mention you won't get capped with 2gigs of data BS.
@phinn
I agree. I would have liked to see the Droid stay at 3.7". Clearly, that size and form factor was very popular.
Now, you're going to have Droid owners that want to upgrade and are stuck with what appears to be a massive brick of a phone.
@The Geek
That's great that you have an evo, thanks for letting the whole world know. You must feel much better!
@seanGadget oh i do
@ebgolfin No, I think Droid owners will be looking to upgrade to the Droid 2 http://www.engadget.com/2010/06/10/motorola-droid-2-fully-exposed/ which purportedly has the same processor as the Droid X, a 3.7" screen, and a slide out keyboard.
@Saauron or waiting for the droid pro at 2ghz with a 4.3 screen.
@The Geek
I am a rabid iPhone user who just reserved my yearly subscription to the fruit of the month club, but I find myself thinking of android sometimes. Nothing seriously, almost like that wife swap, but with phones. Hehehe now that would be fun!
@The Geek
but will it come with LTE support?
@phinn Dude, no iphone trolling in ANY android OS/Phone related topics...Apple is making everyone seriously stupider...
MotoBlur? Boooo
@Mr Blue
Try the new version first before dissing it.
@Mr Blue
I'm so confused.
Milestone XT720, Milestone 2, Shadow, Xtreme, Droid X...
Is the X and Xtreme the same thing? Shadow I will dis-count, as I am uninterested in it... likewise the XT720.
@FORDY The Droid X is the Droid Xtreme and the Droid Shadow. All the same device, just different code names or potential marketing names.
@Mr Blue You can always turn it off, you know.
@FORDY the shadow is the X/Xtreme.
screen looks hot, but that bump is awful
@bobcobb
At least it could probably double as a calculator...
I still can't believe this thing is bigger than the EVO. I got the EVO @ Google I/O, and I'm 6'6"--and I'd say it's at the uppermost boundaries of still being comfortable in my hands and fitting easily in my pockets.
I guess I have to change my perception of a cellphone; if it's large to me, I can't imagine what the average 5'10 guy (or 5'4 woman) must feel like.
@Shidell
I'm a guy who's 5'7"
Everything to me is too big... :/
@maddawg579
Insert bad joke here...
@Shidell
Is not bigger, larger, EVO is widder, not bigger
@Shidell
Please check the facts; the Moto X has 0.5 sq. ft. greater surface area than the EVO. The EVO ain't too big and neither is this.
The hump is a non starter too; it's slimmer than the EVO at it's thin end so it can't be all that thick. 9.9mm vs the EVO's 13mm.
@JAG its taller not wider
Omg cant wait
Cant wait
This is totally off-topic and I will probably ranked down but I am SO SICK of the variations on "taken with a grain of salt" in just about every blog I read. They aren't clever, and they all increase the amount of salt which, given the origins of the phrase, makes little to no sense.
@guruboy
LOOOOOOOOOOL
I was thinking the exact same thing!
@guruboy
I think my Sodium level is too high after reading about all these rumored phones.
@guruboy
I was just mad that they act like Droid Live has not given reliable info before. They have been very Accurate and had breaking news quite a few times
The bump is awful and they put WAY too much bezel on that thing. The Evo and HD2 are just at the line of "useable" because there's so little bezel. Leave it to Motorola to screw that up.
Not to mention Motobarf...er...Blur.
@nutbunnies
Have you ever used one of these? A large bezel may not be pretty, but man, I accidentally touch the screen all the time on my Evo its so thin. With a sensitive touch screen, you need some room to hold the freaking thing. Love the evo though and will not be trading for this
@dswatson83 Yes, and accidentally touching it is the tradeoff you get. You either get that or an unusable, uncomfortable device like this.
@Prevacator You have obviously never seen a 4.3" screen phone in person. I'll just leave it at that. You're uninformed.
@nutbunnies
You can tell that lie if you want, but it doesn't make you any less foolish for ridiculing such a modest bezel.
@Prevacator Got dammit man you are my hero
It looks bigger then a 4.3" screen when next to an EVO. It looks like 4.5" maybe. It's good to have choices.
@Dorf
I thought the exact same thing and was wondering why no one else pointed that out. Both screens were on, and the tops of them in one photo were nearly level, yet the bottom of the Moto extended farther. It's either 4.3+X or the EVO is not really 4.3.
My next phone fa'sho...it's the evo done right, with 16M color depth, no cheap build quality, and more importantly on verizon :)
@DoctarPeppar where's the proof of 16m colour depth???
@DoctarPeppar Cheap build quality? On the Evo? Tell me what you base that ridiculous MotoFannyBoy response on. The build quality of the Evo is the best I've ever seen from HTC; yeah. there are reports of screen separation at the bottom and screens improperly grounded, but if you can tell me that Motorola never has issues like that I'll call you a liar to your face. And 16M colors? Who cares; it's like Steve Jobs' ridiculous claims for the iPhone 4's Retina Display, or claims of any headphone company that claims their frequency response is 5-30,000Hz... who cares? The human eye and ears can't discern something in that wide a range.
