@fowenati yeah, i have a kick ass desktop, and its slowwwwwww, no i dont need witty remarks, needs more ramz, or shit computer, i know what im doing, lol
I've got an i7 and an SSD raid array in this thing, and iTunes is slow as cold paste. On my 13" MBP, however, it runs like a raped ape. Explain that s*** to me, please.
@gatorduck Then i dont know what the hell is wrong with your computer, it runs fine on my old ass 1.6ghz dual care with 3GB ram and 256MB Nvidia gfx. and by fine i mean no lag whatsoever. It runs the same on my friends Quad core at 3ghz and he has 4GB ram, and he runs tons of things in the background (like 32 tabs of chrome, at the same time with photoshop and a 3D imaging software, no joke) So your comp is fucked up.
@Cash9007 I gues you're comps are both FUCKED up. Try removing a bunch of shit (adware, viruses, extraprograms) then defrag ur drive, then just orgainize your itunes folder. If not then, then idk wtf is wrong with your comp.
yeah im not bashing apple, just from experience, every desktop or laptop i had installed itunes, they all were sloww......had to think twice before uploading new stuff to iphone, lol
@Jordan It takes less than a second to open, It never gets effed up cause of aero. And srsly its fucked up on ur OCTO CORE MAC? wtf are you doing?! Really?! Never in my life have i ever seen itunes fail on a mac. I have a 50GB library on itunes and it is instantaneous from start to quit on my mbp, and i run photoshop and have 10-15 tabs open in the background.
@gatorduck Itunes IS just minamally slower on windows than mac, i will give it that, but honestly nothing noticable. It DOES run extremely slow ona brand new PCs becuase they have tons of bloatware.
I dunno, you tell me. On Windows I have one of the smallest, lightweight AV software apps, security essentials. That's it. Nothing of the kind on Mac. Under both operating systems everything runs perfectly fine, fast, instant...except for that piece of crap known as iTunes. There is absolutely no way I belive that it starts in less than a second for you. Absolutely none.
I haven't only seen this on my computer, but every computer.
@Jordan I don't believe you. I have never EVER seen a mac not load iTunes in a split second. As i said, my mac (with a 50gb) library loads in a flash. Something is wrong with your computer and you need to fix it. I am using my mac right now, i will quit (CMD+Q) iTunes....now i will open...1. Done.
@Jordan Please clarify what you mean by iTunes not supporting Aero. Which part of Aero is iTunes not supporting? I haven't noticed anything different with it. It shows a preview when you mouseover the icon, allows you to pause etc, snaps to edges, has shadows and all, etc...
Oh, you mean like how after oh I don't know, a decade or two, Microsoft still doesn't support Apple's standard UI guidelines in Office for the Mac?
Pure. Microsoft. Bullshit.
The only "consensus" that iTunes sucks comes from Apple haters like you who like to badmouth anything Apple does. That hardly qualifies as factual information, does it? Or even non-biased information.
@Jordan iTunes opens in around a second on my MBP with Intel G2 SSD and a 115Gb library
@fowenati Quitting and relaunching iTunes isn't a fair test of load times, since OSX caches recently used programs in the memory for improved access times. The initial launch of a program is usually longer than a relaunch due to this caching feature.
@someToast That doesn't surprise me - especially since tin foil hats are made from aluminium
Seriously though - I don't really find iTunes really that slow. Syncing with an iPhone is the only thing I find at all slow

how about we make itunes fast :)
@gatorduck:
Are you kidding? iTunes doesn't even support Aero yet..
iTunes is fast, I use it on mac and pc and i achieve equal speeds for both. 13" MBP and HP Dv6775 (laptop)
@fowenati

@Cash9007
thank you sir, see i knew it wasnt me
@fowenati:
Tell me, how long from the time you click the icon does it take for itunes to actually open?
When you minimize and maximize it, does it get all fucked up cuz of no aero support?
I'm running an 8-core MacPro (newest model) with 16GB of RAM. iTunes is fucked.
@gatorduck It's both of you. Every thing I've ever ran iTunes on (except my grandpa's 1995 desktop) ran extremely fast.
@fowenati:
Then you obviously think slow is fast. The general consensus worldwide is iTunes sucks. I'm not making that up.
@Jordan
Of course you're making it up. If you weren't, you'd have a link to that study. iTunes runs fine for me too.
@Jordan

@Jack:
Ok fine, the general commenter consensus around the internet is iTunes sucks. Look around, you know it's true.
How can you honestly tell me that after 3+ years of Aero being released, and iTunes not supporting it, that it doesn't suck? Pure. Apple. Bullshit.
@gatorduck Itunes IS just minamally slower on windows than mac, i will give it that, but honestly nothing noticable. It DOES run extremely slow ona brand new PCs becuase they have tons of bloatware.

glad you can see things my way hehehe
@gatorduck your way? I said only a LITTLE (less than a second) slower on PC's and its slow on Comps with alot of bloat ware.
Done.
@Cash9007
This is apple telling you:
'If you bought a mac this would be fast!'
It's slow on windows for no reason. Wankers. I installed it once, and promptly uninstalled it.
@fowenati:
Right, iTunes is faster on a Mac than on Windows (gee I wonder why), but it's not split second fast. I have used numerous Macs...it's just not.
@Cash9007 notice how the apple website is slower on browsers other than Safari?
another example of Apple bs...
@Jordan Itunes takes about 30 seconds to a minute to open compared to Zune's about 2 second start time.

16GB of RAM XD *dead*
u Fail
@gatorduck whaaat? Diddymos? There was a guy who was on BSG forums that used the same avatar, are you him?
@infamous1:
What?
@Seb6554 There is not enough tin available to make hats for this thread.
@Jordan My Core i7 machine with Intel SSD achieves a cold start of latest iTunes in < 1 second. It's probably thanks to the ~$400 SSD. :)
@Mr Carstairs lol, sorry dude, wrong person
