Keepin' it real fake: Android-based iPad knockoff gets unboxed for real
There were certainly plenty of non-KIRF products that managed to impress us at Computex earlier this month, but we have to admit that Sanxi's Android-based iPad knockoff is also right up there with the standouts from the show, and is a strong contender for KIRF of the year (our most prestigious fake award). Still not convinced of its many charms? Then look no further than the gallery full of unboxing shots below courtesy of our pal Zach Honig, which reveals just what that $150 or so will get you and, of course, how it stacks up against the real thing. Don't go thinking we're done with this thing just yet, though -- we'll also have it on hand at the next Engadget Show. We hope you can handle the anticipation.

Just install a HTC Legend rom which is specially built for 600 mhz and it will be golden.
That 9V adapter ought to be fun to have to lug around with this thing. No charging through the USB cable here. The proprietary USB cable. C'mon, dudes, no one's gonna check the port at the bottom and exclaim, "It's a mini-USB port instead of the giant gash I've always got to buy a special cable for. OMG, this thing is NOT an Apple. I was almost fooled."
Nice. I'm glad it came with the "Google chome-lite Browser"

"Designed and made in china" lol.
Stevie is crying for sure :D
Nobody can beat the Chinese geniuses.
@palomosan
If by geniuses you mean people with zero originality at all, then yeah.
lol 64GB for less than a Evo 4G/Nexus one?
Where can I find one.
After months of daily press brainwashing, I still haven't figured out what on earth I do with a tablet.
This thing makes the iPad Bezel look tiny... and y didn't they make their own Rip-Off box also?
I can't wait to buy one, I love KIRFs! I'm leaving next Wednesday for a 2 month internship in Beijing!
Jeez.. couldn't they AT LEAST have come up with their own name?
Android tablet? Thumbs up!
An Android tablet that's an ugly iPad ripoff? Thumbs down!
Engadgets gallery is shit. Can't cycle through pictures
look;s like a lawsuit coming.,.. these devices are not like PCs and have multiple manufactors with same os.
@hstewart I dont think its in any companies interest to waste their money on a law suit for this load of crap! lol..
This does not hurt anybody other than their own image. I mean its a pile of crap, who'd be threatened by that?!
And why doesn't this article have any tags?
@Johnny Rockets Its filed under "Tablet PC's" lol..
will it play flash?
@nos879 I dont think it has Android 2.2 which is the only one which supports Flash.
Disqusting. Both a disgrace to Apple, iOS, Google & Android!
Please keep this out of our sights and reach! Can't believe they make crap like this and think they call sell it. Wonder who the fuck will actually pay for this load of crap!
Steve Jobs is probably laughing his ass off of this one! lol.
Very sad it only has 128mb ram. I was so tempted
That's BS, the fake has better hardware than my Ipad.
And it's Android:)
I got ripped off another time from Apple; I paid $600 and it only has one input port!

What do you guys think?
With iPad, you're paying as much for the brand name as you are for a quality device. But $150 means this thing has a crappy screen. Can they even sell a capacitive (did I get that right?) screen at that price? (Resistive is the one where you need a pen to use it, right?)
My first choice is still Adam, with HP's WebOS tablet being second, if delivered in the third quarter. But the Galaxy Tab is definitely in the running.
lol @ "Designed and Made in China"... *sigh* if only Apple could say the same thing with US instead of China... although besides economics, I don't know if there are any plants in the US that could assemble products at nearly the same pace.
All bezel! Do like a good KIRF though! Just not this one
saw one of these today in chengdu china, the chroms sticker surround is something special, sadly has no apple on the back and the screen is unresponsive, also as it lacks the usual android buttons is slightly hard to operate. was running 1.6
