Pandigital rolls out Novel firmware fix following recall
Pandigital's launch of its Novel e-reader quickly turned into something of a mess after it was forced to pull the device from retail partner Kohl's due to some major firmware issues, but it looks like the company has now gotten things sorted out (or so it hopes). It's just rolled out a firmware update for the device that apparently fixes the problems, and which should also pave the way for its return to retail (though it's still not available from Kohl's just yet). It remains to be seen if the update also fixes the many issues reported in an early review of the device, however, but we're going to go out on a limb and say it doesn't make it any lighter. As we'd heard before, you can also still return the device for a full refund if you're not satisfied with it, or you grab the firmware update at the link below and see if it makes things a bit more bearable.

So, how many people are affected? Two?
This is the same crap firmware that has been out since the device launched and it is still a buggy device. I wouldn't say they fixed anything.
that bearded dude used one of these to hack the iPads. He's gonna be stoked to hear this!
I work at Khol's and saw them in the back a few days ago all bound together in their box's with a BIG DO NOT SELL defected sign on them. I wish had know this was engadget worthy i would've broken the news haha.
I just wanted to make this post feel love.
When I read about pandigital I was all exsited about buying one, but after reading all the issue I am ready to wait for the next cheapest tablet.
Looks like JCPenny has pulled the device now too.
I just picked one up at Kohls. They honored my previous cancelled order price of $119.00. I have spent the evening playing with it and I'm pretty happy with it. I also own a Nook but wanted a better browser and video player. It turns pages as fast a my Nook and is actually easier to read inside the house. It is a little heavy but not unacceptably so. A reasonable value for the investment. Future upgrades might make it even better. I wish it would charge off the USB though.
