YouTube Editor enables cloud-based combining of clips, trimming of masterpieces
Too many YouTube clips in your library? Not enough cheddar to get a decent piece of video editing software on your PC? Fret not, as the World's Greatest Time Waster has just rolled out a new web-based Video Editor that enables users to combine clips, trim segments, add audio and then preview the results before finalizing. Hey, Numa Numa kid -- get on those mashups, pronto!

I bet this will become ChromeOS's answer to iMovie/Windows Live Movie Maker
@216 No shit sherlock
@216
hopefully with some Android love thrown in too.
@216
hey and what do you know it's not $4.99, IT'S FREE!!!!!
@216
I'm a Windows user of many many years, but don't you ever besmerge the name of iMovie by comparing it to Windows Live Movie Maker... Money can't buy an editor as easy to use and functional as iMovie on a Windows PC, especially for YouTube videos.
@elijahblake
Um yeah iMovie is free with Mac OS loser. Is this for Android? Didn't think so.
Oh no, here come more wastes of interwebs that are my grandmother making videos of her damn dog......why do you encourage her YouTube, damn you!!
I wish they just increase 10 minutes limitation at ease.
@techlord agreed, i don't see the point of having a 2bg upload limit if you can only upload 10mins of video.
@saturnblackhole I can create a 4 GB 3 minute file with Fraps... that same video also comes out to 2GB and 30 minutes when processed though...
@GadgetTamer Meanwhile I can make an hourlong file at 800MB that looks better on Vimeo than that 3 min 2GB file would look at YouTube's "480p".
Very convenient for basic edits.
Why is it in Engadget Alt?
@kapanak
cuz their doin' it wrong.
Apple uses iMovie!!
Google counter-attacks!! 5 HIT COMBO!! 110000pts
A web based video editing is a great idea for YouTube, but this one seems extremely limited.
They should acquire something like Creaza:
http://www.creaza.com/static/creaza/preview/index.html (takes a while to load since it's preloading assets for the preview demo).
So how does this work? Does it use flash storage on the computer? Does it ALL just run in RAM? Or does it actually edit it on the server as you edit it?
@GadgetTamer
If you are referring to the comment about Creaza MovieEditor, you can check out this page:

@arildstorm I'm just curious about how the whole "Edit video online" thing works. Thanks though, i'll look at it. Maybe it'll help me figure out how this works... i don't see any efficient way to do it though.
@GadgetTamer
How it actually works is that you edit online on proxy videos in RAM and then it's possible to use the cloud to assembly a high-quality MP4 export in 720p.
See http://www.youtube.com/creazatube for an example of a HD video exported.
@arildstorm Okay, that makes sense. I was just wondering if it edited it on the server (seems like a ton of up/downloading) or stores it all in RAM (would use a TON of RAM) or downloaded bits and pieces, edited them in RAM, and then uploaded them all.
