Audi's Sound Concept cabin defines auditory excess: 62 speaker surround-sound

If you've been bragging about your all-encompassing 7.2 surround-sound system to of your friends, prepare for a mighty dose of humble pie. Audi has hand-crafted what it calls the Sound Concept, an in-car sound system so excessive it should be able to cause your soft, fleshy bits to pulsate in new and exciting ways. There are five tweeters scattered across the dash and the doors, five woofers (four in the doors and a monster in the back), and then a whopping 52 mid-range speakers encircling the entire enclosure, creating a package that's not likely to show up in the options catalog anytime soon. All these have been wedged into the interior of a Q7 SUV in the interests of Wave Field Synthesis, minimizing a user's ability to hear specific speakers -- and blowing Audyssey's paltry 11-speaker DSX system right out of the water.

@SlimSpaceman naw. you dont. my brothers car had like two 14' (i think) subs in his car, hed play his n word music and you couldnt breath. not very practicle. plus the sound was so unbalanced it didnt sound decent. 1 sub is enough, trust me, it will sound good with 1

Huge SUVs are the domain of the soccer mom. Definitely the most efficient way to transport herself around and drop off Jimmy at soccer practice, cuz heaven forbid he use public transport or have to squeeze into a smaller car without a TV.

Audi does make some sweet models though.

Picked up an A3 that does 42mpg on diesel. Can't wait till they start supplementing the supply with some biodiesel thrown in to the mix.

@Hobsie Probably Stark is going to cry about not having enough music in his R8 since it can't be to heavy, and he ends up buying this, then it gets trashed (in some fighting scene). Eventually he will go back to the all new 2011-2012 R8 with the new paper speakers so weight is not an issue, and it comes with the option of 64 speakers.
