Google replaces hints of Chrome OS hardware from Acer, Dell, and HP with even better hints
As you may recall from a few days ago, Google offered some of the clearest evidence of Chrome OS hardware from major manufacturers yet by letting some build configurations for Acer, Dell, and HP slip out into its public code repository. Now, that wasn't too surprising considering that each of the companies have already made their Chrome OS intentions pretty clear, but Google seems to have done a bit of backtracking nonetheless. It's replaced the files with what you see above (the files, not the Caruso), which now suggest that Chrome OS hardware is coming from the likes of Amiga, Commodore and Atari. Way to raise expectations, Google.

Guess you can say Chrome, is -
*Gets hacked by serial killer*
*CSI Miami music plays*
AMIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIGAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
Awesome! IBM zSeries tablets powered by Crusoe and 3DFX!
So who's who? Is Dell the Commodore, Acer the Atari, and HP the Amiga? Or is Dell the Atari and Acer is the Commodore?
It seem more like HP is... the Commodore.
YEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
Oh, sorry, everybody else was screaming it, and I wanted a piece of the pie... the Chrome OS pie.
YEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
(sorry)
Speaking of screaming yeaaaa, did anybody watch the Betty White SNL with the retirement home CSI?
OSH?? lol
Sorry google, that's just stupid.
I want a ChromeOS transputer.
Amiga, Commodore and Atari??????
Guess I'll Put in My order for the New Commodore VIC-2010 Tablet................
3Dfx back from the dead! Reminds me of my old 3D accelerator Voodoo 2 card. Ah, the days where you have 2 separate graphics card, 1 for 2D, another one for 3D. Oh, and you can do SLI with 2 Voodoo 2 cards! :D
ha ha, they're fucking with us.
incidentally, is the avatar uploader always this broken, or does it need to be less than 8kB or something?
"Now this...
*puts sunglasses on*
is f#cking awesome"
As much as I would sell my soul for an Amiga with Chrome (and dual-boot Workbench), I'd say that Google is playing around. If it's true, though... then I'm going to look for an Amiga and tell my cousin to dust off his Amiga 500. I wonder which rom will he need? He has both 1.3 and 2.0.
So....was he wearing TWO pairs of sunglasses in the pic? What's in his hands if he has glasses on?
@ptterb
I want to know where Caruso got his deep voice. In First Blood he sounded like a sissy little girl. Perhaps his balls didn't drop until he was 30?
What's the deal with Orchard Valley Hardware?
Also, @ptterb , let's face a few facts:

Ah, a return to the good old days when it was actually possible for a (technically inclined) person to know everything about their computer.
@kenjennings not only that.In those days developers were very open about what they were doing and WHY they were doing it. I still read articles mentioning Sinclair with great interest because the man knows his stuff. Folks belittling these old machines better understand :
- without those guys in the 80's you wouldn't have the cool computers you have today .
- Amiga was the first computer to feature DEDICATED sound and graphics chips. You now take this for granted.
- Sinclair made the first affordable home computer ,forcing Microsoft to respond with a home OS and PC.
- Apple made the first portable home computer ( desktop model ) with the original Mac. That paved the way for laptops.
Seems like Horatio is investigating this matter xD
Some people actually think this isn't a joke (a very nerdy one at that)?!?! Are you serious?
@ibopm ...seriously.
Is my Atari 520ST backwards compatible?
Oh man. I hope they are resurrecting 3DFX. Glide is SO much better than D3D or OpenGL ... it was horrible when they stopped developing it. But hell, I'll be happy for support for my old Voodoo 3 card even if there's nothing new coming out.
I wish Jack Bauer had this Tshirt on http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=170502232024&ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT that would be awesome
overlay-ibm_sys_360-private.git = Xbox 360 branch? The 360 uses a PowerPC architecture processor...
@coolbho3000 By the way, this entire thing is a joke. Chill guys.
IBM System 360? Someone's having a laff fellas!
I like the uncredited artwork there... http://biggercheese.com

And why may I ask, is Google not supporting the ZX Spectrum? :(
@ChazClout the Amiga mentioned here isn't the old one but the new model ( Amiga OS 4 on it as well )
hmm, could this mean Amiga will release a Chrome OS version of their new model? It probably most definitely means Google are in contact with the Amiga developers. That's good news .
Xbox 360? Not going to happen.
rofl, nice google, nice.
