Yay, Froyo!
Wonder when we'll see OTA update for Nexus One!!!
I always wanted a Nexus One (until the Droid X was leaked)
Froyo Rocks. Good for FRF72 owners.
@bingster
Still nothing for ATT 3G Nexus owners to download without rooting.
Thanks Google
@Air Force One
Yeah, tell me about it..
@Omen20 woohoo, at least I'm not down ranked anymore. :) cannot believe Android fanboys down ranked a fellow Android fanboy just for being honest. :(
@Air Force One yea this is just ridiculous. I want my update!
@Damien K
@Damien K
Can you believe Google I/O was going on exactly a month ago now? And they let us think we might be getting it soon, way back then!
And I'll be 100% honest: I have two Nexus One's, the Tmobile version and the ATT 3G version. I have now updated my Tmobile version twice and I swear Froyo is getting more unstable, rather than better.
I now get FC using slacker sometimes, and every time I reboot the device, the stock launcher FC's the first time it launches after the reboot. After the first FC, then it loads fine, but still....I thought we were supposed to be getting more stable here
@Air Force One
My AT&T Nexus One also force closes the launcher on start-up. And I'm still running the stock firmware, no rooting or anything. Not sure why it does that, but I'm hoping the 2.2 update will eliminate the problem.
@coitis1
Hmm, that's weird, I've never had this issue before updating to FRF72. FRF50 was fine for me, as well as 2.1 Update-1
@Air Force One These are not official builds, download at your own risk they are for the impatient who need to be satisfied now. dont get fluttered you have the pre-release version. When you get the official release and u dont like it then complain.
@ZLiberator dude I'm not complaining, just being honest as to my feelings regarding the latest build. Trust me, I'd still rather have FRF72 on my ATT 3G Nexus instead of 2.1 Update-1
I'm just saying the latest build almost seems to have gone backwards a little.
@Air Force One
If you have a branded phone then you will have to wait until your provider releases it's version, that's not googles fault...
btw a month is not a long time, you spend a lot more than a month asleep every year ;-)
@MrJimlad,
I don't think there is anything "branded" in Android 2.1 Update 1 which was sold through Google online store for AT&T customers. In fact, AT&T never wanted this phone and never provided a support for it.
Still, we're waiting an entire month now for FroYo release.
I'll be waiting for the Droid port!
@bravokiloromeo is there somethingg wrong with the froyo roms already available for the Droid?
@forHim247
It wont work on my phone. Tried both methods and when I did get it on my phone, it would run slower than a snail moves.
@bravokiloromeo mine just sent it into a boot loop, went back to my fast 2.1 with 1.2 ghz.
@bingster
Why all the hate?
:)
@WaltJabsco I was wondering that too. Some are mad because the un-official release doesnt live up to there standards. they have a option of waiting for the official release. enjoy the test versions inpatients!
Can't wait to get me a Droid X.. though it's supposed to have 2.1. What's with that?
@Aedan762 Because 2.2 isn't out yet?
@Aedan762 its kinda gotta be released in order to have it on the phone I'm sure the X has been in the works way before we even knew what froyo would even have
Now for my evo lol
@bmtdan
Some source say it might not be available until November. The only thing to do now is to root, but that too took 20 or so steps.
What is the diffrence between this and the one that came out when Google announced 2.2 at I/O? Just more stable?
@PhaseDMA - Yes
@PhaseDMA
and flash seems to load more quickly too
@PhaseDMA Is there an official change log?
@RincewindWiz - No, not yet at least.
@PhaseDMA
I noticed an increase of about 20 MB of space with the update.
Can we please get 2.2 onto my EVO pretty please
@Jean Marc
That would be too much win in one device sorry.
@Jean Marc i have 2.2 on my evo......
@CJisohsocool lol very good point lol
@DevilGear how did you get it im new to rooting i had a hero but never had a reason too can you help me out please
@Jean Marc your so right. we need tht 2.2 on the EVO
@WorldClear 2.2 is out for the EVO already. only prob is you lose camera and 4G and sense. which basically makes the device LAME.
Tho after installing AWD launcher on my Evo with beautiful widgets i dont care for HTC sense anymore.
BRING ON THE FROYO FOR EVO..
cowboys
Get ready to be downranked.
@WaltJabsco
Still waiting for the officially release........"coming weeks" is slowly turning into "coming months"....
When will we get it for the Droid?
@mrroboanger - Sometime next week I would guess. Android development seems to really slow down on the weekends...
hopefully we can now get something solid for the first gen phones, I appreciate the hardwork the devs put into the current rom, but no wifi and camera doesn't really count as a daily rom :(
@jjrp123
There is a "No device left behind" letter to subscribers in the new issue of T-Mo's MyTouch magazine. Promises to update all the MyTouches, even first-gen, to 2.2 sometime soon. No luck for the G1 though.
Where's the official droid update -.-
@spdivr1122 The same place the official Nexus update is. Out there in cyberland, held hostage at the Google compound, desperately trying to escape. When they said "A few weeks" at Google I/O, I think they meant to say "A few months". At this rate, I seriously wouldn't expect to see Gingerbread until next summer, maybe next fall. Google is having this much trouble with a fairly minor release, and Gingerbread is supposed to be a complete UI over-haul? Heh...
no love for the cliq/dext yet?
@Air Force One Not true... you can't get around unlocking the bootloader, but you don't have to root.
