Trent left town, so we had to produce this podcast with our own feeble hands. If you don't like it, blame Trent Wolbe.

I was a good podcast and I enjoyed it. :)
@Air Force One
Omg, I was cracking up at Josh's Droid commercial voice impression. "You're a man's man, man!" That whole bit killed me! I had to pause it to catch my breath.
Forgot to mention I listened live via ustream
Why do the podcasts always take forever to show up in my rss aggregator.
@04k3R i have the same sad problem. I hope it shows soon.
@04k3R I know what you mean. My podcatcher of choice syncs with Google Reader. If Google Reader can't get to it, neither can my podcatcher. So I have to wait forever for my podcast...
@04k3R
Ha! I had come on to say the same thing, I use Google listen for android, is this the issue? It seems fine on other podcasts though.
@wolfticket II It's not in my music player either, which doesn't use Google reader. :/
Thanks for jumping in for Trent. I will give your DJ skills a try ;)
Can you please write down the topics here?
Great podcast. Listened to it live for the first time.
Wish it didn't take so long for the new ones to appear on iTunes however.
Just wanted to ask - who is in charge of finding the 8bit openings and ust how the hell is he finding these things? (this is a question and a compliment)
@Pickaxe: I know that Trent finds at least some of them, since he occasionally asks for suggestions for new ones on Twitter; I should know, as I recommended him 8-Bit Collective (link: http://8bc.org/ ) as a decent place to find some, and he actually used a version of MGMT's Kids (link: http://8bc.org/music/Dr.+Zilog/Kids+(MGMT+Cover)/ ) that I suggested a few weeks back.
Folks why isn't this podcast available on iTunes??
@Raghav: It generally takes an extra few hours/a day for it to come through on the iTunes podcast section; no idea why, but I'd hazard a guess that it's because it needs to go through the iTune Store - the same thing happens with podcasts from the TWiT network et al. Still, that's just my vaguely educated guess.
@meeku I listen to plenty other podcasts and none of them have this problem. It probably doesn't have anything to do with iTunes, it just checks the RSS for new files. My bet is on the server they're uploading to, FIX IT ASAP please! It's a pain in the effin ass to download it and manually add podcasts as music...
@meeku Yeah.. it's not iTunes.. it is the RSS, I just clicked on the links, they FORGOT to update them, they still show last show. Somebody is dropping the ball on this one...
Please people, update your feeds!
I'm not going to lie to you. I had a huge hard on when you guys were talking about the size of the Droid X.
@Jukah
Overshare..
No ogg encode? You guys are lazy when Trent isn't around!
@frewster Agreed. I miss the OGG encode too.
Wow, lol Great podcast, Thought i might shed some light on the Rock band 3 Guitar situation,
SO, IN Rock back 3 you can plug in your own Keyboard, and Electric drum set MIDI and it will work as your controller.
Why not any electric guitar?
Because:
A. You can make the same notes on a guitar in multiple places, so not knowing where your fingers are, would mean you could still be playing the song incorrectly
B. Lets say you dont know how to play guitar, your finger fret position shows up on screen, so you dont have to look down at the guitar to know where your hand is, and your subliminally learning the frets, And you can see where your fingers are also (ala rock band 2 etc the colored tiles light up when your pressing on them so you dont have to look away)
+ Im sure it would be much less responsive in expert mode to determine all those notes together etc. with only listening and no sensors to know your finger positions
Blame Trent Wolbe?
Oh Engadget, I thought you of all things that appear on my computer screen would know that you can take the Hipster out of the meth lab but you can never take the meth out of the Hipster. You can't blame Mr. Wolbe for going on a psychedelic voyage into the unkown, or worse the Hamptons. Forcing your millions and millions of podcast listeners to have nothing to listen to while we ride our fixies in capry pants and flipflops. No sir, I will not blame Trent for what nature made him. I will however suggest you find another blogger hipster, a blogster if you will, to sit stilly and quietly, waiting, while you podcast your pods, so that said blogster can do the deeds that need done, immediately after the pod has been cast, so that I have something nice to listen to while pondering my thoughts and pedaling my pedals
With Love,
P.s. Loved Trent on the mobile podcast. How is he taking it, that the DroidX has no kickstand? Hope he gets well soon.
P.s.s. Almost went with Hipogster. Hope I made the right choice.
P.s.s.s. No love for the RSS feed? Sorrys don't heal a broken heart.
Josh's reaction to the Rock Band 3 guitar being playable as a real guitar was hilarious.
I'm so happy that you guys liked the Microsoft press conference. The people at G4 were in love with the Nintendo conference but I wasn't excited by that one at all. I think if you're a Nintendo fan it might have been interesting but since I'm not, there wasn't anything for me.
Nilay did not get to say Rock and Roll, the world may never be the same!
Wow, only just got messaged on youtube that it was my music...
I posted the magnet link in the "live right now" comment section, bout 10-15 people downloaded it, next time I might do the same thing, and maybe even a little editing and mp3 AND ogg... maybe give trent a run for his money.
good show... but if you wanna laugh your ass off...
go listen to the JOYSTIQ podcast #142... those
guys know how to entertain and enjoy themselves
I enjoyed this podcast. I'll address some points below.
1. Not a big fan of this whole 3D technology that nintendo and sony is working on. It's either perfect or it fails. That's the big gamble with it. Based on thoughts of the 3DS, I think the resolution is small enough to pull off and not to mention you don't need glasses and a ton of other accessories. Sony on the other hand has two obstacles upon them. The glasses costing about 150.00 or so, and perfecting the image. If i'm shelling out that much more money for an accessory, it better be a perfect transition, or else it's not worth it in my honest opinion.
2. Kinect and Move. Personally, I love the concept of kinect, but truthfully, it doesn't make sense to buy it now, and developers will have to eventually figure out how to fully utilize this new technology. Move on the other hand seems like a ps3 with a wii type capability, which i think is a smart move for them, even though more than likely the market that their aiming for probably have both systems, cause the wii is pretty affordable.
3. The android summer. Verizon yet again brings out another Droid phone. This isn't exactly a bad thing per se, but much like Joanna said, I don't think that there is that big of a market for gigantic phones. Not to mention I don't see why someone would jump to the next carrier just for a bigger screen (not to mention if they're the type of person to do that then putting out a similar phone wont really stop them)
4. Buying things online. I agree with Paul. I hate buying things online. Call me old fashioned if you will, but there's something about going to a store, seeing exactly what you want, and then walking home with it the very same day. I hate buying something, and then having to wait a week for it. Then it's quite possible that that when i do eventually purchase it, i might not like it due to differences of seeing it online, and not in front of my face. I'll only buy something online if it's no where to be found and going online is my only option. As far as pre orders are concerned, (especially for phones and certain electronics) I like to get it a few months later, so that most of the bugs and kinks are taken care of before i decide to shell out cash for it.
Hey guys, I know life's rough w/o Trent around, but the iTunes download still isn't working. If we could fix that my life would be better.
Fun Fact, The Droid guy is Dexter's Dad, and Dexter does the same type of commercials for Dodge.
First you guys praise move then troll Nintendo. I had to skip forward to normal tech talk because sorry this isn't a gaming podcast and you guys sound like fools trying to talk about anything game related.
@LOVEoo What this guy said, but with better grammar.
@joannastern
it would have been a crime not to drop a "that's what she said". brilliant
When's the next podcast, dangit!
On a side note, the famous mime is Marcel Marceau.
I wish you would have talked about the Samsung Vibrant (Galaxy S). It is a fantastic phone and seems to be often overlooked. It has a SAMOLED display, which was asked about regarding the DroidX but no one mentioned the Vibrant has it.
