HTC promises fix for Droid Incredible's ne'er-to-forget browser
In case you missed the recent excitement, a "feature" of HTC's Droid Incredible was found whereby the Sense UI bookmarking widget would take random screenshots of your web browsing experience and put them in a folder that's nigh impossible to delete, even after resetting to factory settings. Looks like the company knows about the issue, acknowledging it in a statement and promising a fix "in the near future." It also suggests a different reset to fix the mess, which apparently is to select "Format Phone Storage" from the "SD Card and Phone Storage" settings menu. Let us know if you have any luck with this and please, be careful about your browsing habits if you're worried what might be hanging around.

@adamjustadam Wow, you're a fucking idiot. The images are stores on the microSD card, inside a directory. Just delete the folder and you're done. It's just a bug that can easily be fixed. No need to factory reset your phone, unlike the Apple jesusFones that you all love. It looks like you're the one overblowing this issue, like Engadget is.
As a nexus one user and former iphone user, it's really sad to see the level of discourse in the comments whenever there is a post about either platform.
FYI android fanboys, buying the slightly less fashionable choice doesn't make you a beautiful and unique snowflake, you could just be a different kind of sheep.
@milkham
Bravo, milkham. Competition benefits US, and we need to keep that in mind. No matter how friendly companies appear to be, none of the major ones are designing phones with specific end users in mind. They want the majority happy and buying their products, because they DO investors and boards to keep happy.
Crapmentation.
So, another huge issue with this "report":
"Sense UI bookmarking widget would take random screenshots of your web browsing experience and put them in a folder that's nigh impossible to delete"
it doesn't take random shots.. the ONLY shots it takes are when YOU bookmark a page So, if you are stupid enough to bookmark a porn or bank page, then it will save it (in the easily deletable folder). Otherwise, it doesn't keep track....
If they do this, you can't be sure they're not doing much worse stuff.
They should pay some huge penalty!
"nigh impossible to delete" is very poor wording. It's as easy as deleting any other folder. I have an incredible and it took about 10 seconds to erase it. That said, I did appreciate the original article because I doubt I would have noticed this on my own.
This is a nice HTC feature.
Since porn is pervasive on Android, one can keep track of the porn one views on their Android phone by looking up the random screenshots it takes of your activity.
In the future, if you are also on a webcam, you will see a screenshot of yourself looking at a porn website, doing the dirty.
Great feature.
Can someone tell me why this is a privacy issue? Passwords are dots. And other information would be incredibly pixelated and hard to see in a low res image like that
WOAH
To delete something off your sd card before reselling your phone, you should format it?
WHAT AN UNEXPECTED IDEA!
Seriously, these two articles have been downright absolute stupidity.
I have to wonder if HTC only responded with the advice about formatting just to make fun of the author's stupidity.
@That guy 2 Even better than the Evo?
Since Droid 2 is coming... Incredible doesn't matter. TWICE as fast as the Nexus One in benchmarks on Android 2.1. Plus better keyboard than original droid. http://briefmobile.com/droid-2-hands-on-video Woohoo!!
