sweet love webos
@Ralven
Who cares!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Palm sucks
@Dredayxi85
Yeah palm totally sucks when webos is hands down the best smartphone os there is. If it had the amount of apps that android or apple have there would be no reason to get a different type of phone
@DefPoet
Better hardware for one.
@DefPoet
If its the best then why did Palm go bankrupt?
@Dredayxi85 at first I definantly wasn't a fan of palm, bu after playing with their webOS on both the pre&pixi I really felt like the OS had a lot of potential and I actually really like it; but their hard ware definantly doesn't cut it
@BrookLynnsFinest
If Betamax is better then why did everyone use VHS?'
what's popular doesn't necessarily mean what is best.
@DefPoet I don't think it's the best it deff does have the best ui "shine" in polished os it's right there with apple but usablity is android the webos and then iPhone
@BrookLynnsFinest That has nothing to do with it look at IBM it almost went under and it was almost the same as microsft and apple in the 90 was almost dead and they at the time had good computers just cuz something is good and the company goes down doesn't make there product bad ppl just didn't buy it just like the iPhone it's not that versitile as android(if u don't count the apps) but ppl still buy the iPhone
@Ralven Please... if you haven't tried WebOS... don't judge.
The UI is smooth and probably, hands down, the best in the smartphone industry.
Their PDK, even though a little late, came and gave way to many game developers... I can sadly say that my Palm Pre had better games that ran on it than my Evo does now...
Anyway, the hardware was the only thing. Otherwise, the OS has matured in many ways in the last year.
Again, people need to stop being ignorant. WebOS is great... I miss it.
My experience with webos on the pre made me about as nauseous and bored as their creepy ads on tv. Apps were so slow I couldn't use it longer than 10 minutes. Swiping your finger on the screen was often non-responsive. I like HP though. Maybe they can Make better hardware. Who knows?
@cocopuffs please locate your punctuation keys. Reading your posts are equally nauseous and boring.
@BrookLynnsFinest
Bad marketing.
@Ralven
Does this mean Palm will pay me to download free apps?
@Clevernamehere
I can only guess you had a defective phone. While there have been several issues with the Pre, I've never seen anyone else describe the problems you had unless the hardware was defective.
@DefPoet
Keep telling yourself that delusional shit.
@DefPoet
I own a Pre plus, WebOS is not the best mobile OS.
Don't confuse "prettiest" or "most fun to use" with best.
@sweet greggo
Really? You seem to be forgetting the numerous Engadget posts input slowdown
@tobsmonster2
I'm so sick of seeing this comment, mostly because I have no idea what it's supposed to mean. Better hardware? In what way? I have the Pre Plus on Verizon, and I absolutely love the integration of a hardware keyboard into a sleek device (I wouldn't call any of the android devices with keyboards sleek, especially the Droid). I think the keyboard is very usable, the screen is extremely vibrant, and the overall design superb. In fact, I hope they change very little in the Pre 2 and just focus on refinement. So please, WTF does that mean, "better hardware"? Just about 5 more people have said that in this thread without qualifying it and it kinda pisses me off.
@guroth
Contrary to popular belief, VHS did not win out over Betamax due to better marketing or being offered by more manufacturers.
I can tell you first-hand that the reason my friends and I used VHS over Betamax was because VHS could record for 4 hours which was enough to tape sports games as well as movies and a whole night of prime time TV. The first Betamaxes that I remember only recorded for 90 minutes.
Sony later came out with a version that could record longer, but then VHS doubled their recording time too. VHS was always considered a better value - more recording time per tape. So, in that way, VHS was better than Betamax. That's why VHS won.
Beta may have had a slight edge in video quality (and Beta tapes loaded quicker), but the video quality of VHS was good enough for most people. And once they got it home, people certainly weren't running side-by-side tests to compare. So, there was little reason to be dissatisfied with VHS. It wasn't like there was a dramatic difference between Beta and VHS like there is between HD and SD.
@Android looks Hacked Together
Quit your belly aching. You don't like it go make your own website!
Remember if a prostitute has a happy customer, they blew it!
@BrookLynnsFinest "It is was the best then why did Palm go bankrupt?" You clearly don't understand the power of marketing verging on deception.
@pukerocket
I've read all of the articles about WebOS lagging here and there, but not to the point of it being unusable. If it's that bad then there is something very wrong with that particular phone, period.
@MobileGeorge Don't forget about pr0N. JVC and the VHS gang flung the doors wide for licensing the format for adult film production companies while Sony tried to lock them out and keep the betamax "sanitized."
Porn makes money and drives consumer adoption; it's a fact. I would venture to say that it's one of the big reasons everybody screams for Flash on smartphone; we will see how this works out for Apple as they seem to be taking the Betamax stance lately...
whats the occasion?
@TjK going out of business sale
@TjK clearance? oh wait...
So that's like 500 applications?
@iMiiTH
Actually its over 2000
BTW stop bing a douche
@iMiiTH
500 apps that will blow your f***in' mind
@DefPoet
So it's not over 9000?
@Plazmic Flame I was just kidding. :) I would pick a palm phone over Android/iOS anyday because of the form factor (portrait keyboard) and real multitasking. What's the point of having thousands of apps, when you can only run one at a time?
@Someguyperson
Wrong website b rother
Guess I'll have to grab "ever"one of them
@JeremyBenthem
It's an eyesore since it's a featured article.
@HotDog
As opposed to unfeatured article?
Typo in the title
So all the 5 users can get all the 10 apps, YEAH!
@dementedacademic stop trolling funny comment tho
Good for the few people that own palm products I guess..few meaning however many people there are that own them.
Ever...?
now i can afford the entire catalog.
@Vistronaut
Sure if you have over $1500 at the bear minimal
@DefPoet I was mocking at their # of apps with my earlier statement.
@Vistronaut sad that it even needs to be said. thats the internet for ya
@DefPoet what is a bear minimum? Lmao. It's bare minimum. Posts here remind me if why I vote for school levies.
Who cares!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Palm sucks
@Dredayxi85 I don't think anyone ever has thought this about WebOS outside of commenters on blogs who seem to equate selling your company with having bad products. Obviously they have something going for them if HP is scooping them up in the first place and on top of that has been rather enthusiastic about releasing WebOS on lots of their products.
@Dredayxi85
If they suck nearly as bad as you do then their in trouble
More importantly, the developers are still getting the full 100% of the price for each sale.
@jhoff80
That's nice except, they don't have the market share like developers of other platforms. I would rather get a percentage of sales on a platform that sold a lot more, than 100% in a market that's barely a market.
