NEC LifeTouch Android tablet isn't exactly a beauty
Hey, they say beauty's in the eye of the beholder, but we're going to go out on a limb here and call this one like we see it: NEC's LifeTouch Android tablet isn't a looker, in our opinion. That said, this 7-incher runs Android 2.1 and packs an ARM Cortex A8 processor. Although it's scheduled for release in Japan in October, it turns out that it'll be sold directly to businesses, so don't hope to grab up one of these -- unless you have the best employer ever, that is. Hey, at least it's original looking. Video below.

eww.
@bob1000 pure ugliness
@bob1000
UGLY.
@bob1000
I agree 100% FUGLY
@bob1000
Some companies really need to remember these Two words:
ASK
SOMEBODY!
That orange circle with the white border (SOS) . . .
Is that Palm's new logo?
Thats a lot of buttons for a touch tablet IMO.
@KlassiK Even one button is way too many. Negative 3 is ideal in my opinion.
Sent from my iPad
To many buttons that's stupid
That's stupid there is too many buttons what is the point
**Throws up in mouth**
**Think's about why it's called Throwing up, imagines stomach throwing stuff into the air, and up**
**Wishes android tablets would die**
@rmbrown09 I'd be fine with the last one if Chrome OS was out and had app support
There are so many buttons on that thing they may as well put a keyboard on there and call it a Smartbook.
... wow
Ok...
I just finished ordering my archos 7, ill take it with 1.5 over this thing any day
@kapps15 if Archos updated there devices more then I'd but them
Archos 5 IT + Android 2.2 = HellaNerdGasm
Archos 7 IT + Android 2.2 = UberNerdGasm
@University of Pi
If they had a glass capacitive touch screen i'd buy one.
@University of Pi, you're right, I'm getting it in hopes of at least doing 1.6
I want one. That is hot!!
That thing is scarier to look at than Ronald McDonald with his pants off
ummmmm....yeah this is just sad :/
Maybe it's ugly but practical indeed!
@Lucky Businessman
practical for what?
can they not just put a proper d-pad on one side and some bottons on the other side , and it would be good for emulators , like a big dingoo or something
@IMarius
Yeah man, it so very nearly has a dpad. its Dick teasing me.
.....yuck.....
Epic fail!!!
I've yet to see an Android device that *was*...
If this thing is Yin, then the iPad is Yang.
I guess Japan's trying to get into the KIRF game?
@wanzer
So, could you explain what product this is copying?
Do you even know what a KIRF is? I wasn't aware that every tablet that came to the market was a knockoff the 'magical' iPad.
@DS1495 Calm Down! he didnt even mention the iPad and you jumped right to it
I actually like it for it's simplistic design
-sure they could make it more expensive but I'm just gonna put it in some ugly case anyways so it doesn't get scratched or broken
@University of Pi actually now that I think about it I wish the buttons were on the other side for us right handed people
Looks like a Kindle, why all the hate?
Crying for more buttons on iDevices, and then calling this ugly becuase it has those extra buttons.
Make up your mind, why don'tcha?
And beauty's really in the mind of the beholder, not so much the eye, which hasn't changed much recently, while what's considered beautiful constantly changes.
LOL @ this ... thing =\
welcome to 1995
那么难看,比咱深圳出的还山寨,这年头怎么了?
Seeing as how it's intended for businesses, I really don't see why its looks matter at all.
I don't understand why everyone dislikes this...it's actually kind of cool, clean and white, it's a little rough around the edges, but has potential! kind of.
@gofightlose add a QWERTY keyboard, remove some bezel and the fugly buttons and this thing may be a competitor.
A face only a mother (or designer) could love. Damn...
LOL
Beauty is in the eye's of the beholder. Beholder must have been blind...
It looks slightly Nintendo. *ducks*
Ugly is an understatement for this device.
It looks okay... Just gonna put it that way. I like that they at least customized most of Android to their liking.
Say the first wave of Android tablets will be as crappy as PDAs in the 90s (when compared to today at least). However, I wouldn't be suprised if they get better over the next few years. Hopefully.
Not everyone is a princess who only likes pretty things.
Its pretty enough and 7' is the best size. Its big enough to fit into a jacket pocket and take on the train with you on the way to work. If it works as a pdf reader (preferrably reflow) I'll take it.
