Inhabitat's Week in Green: solar houses, geothermal power, and the world's slowest Porsche
The Week in Green is a new item from our friends at Inhabitat, recapping the week's most interesting green developments and clean tech news for us.

Speaking of solar power, the field of clean tech had a hot week as Sanyo unveiled the world's most efficient solar module. We also saw solar power energize Africa's largest slum as a photovoltaic television set allowed residents of Kibera, Nairobe to watch the World Cup. Several massive new geothermal projects rounded out our renewable energy news this week as the US Department of Energy unveiled plans to make Nevada the "Saudi Arabia of Geothermal Energy".
In other news, two-wheeled transportation took the world by storm as Italy unveiled its first electric motorcycle and Switzerland showcased its Zerotracer Superbike, which is set to circle the globe in 80 days using only renewable energy. And if a peddle-powered ride is more your pace, then you won't want to miss the world's slowest Porsche.
If all that exciting transportation news has you overheating, then relax and cool off -- here's a futuristic refrigerator that keeps things cool with bio gel and an underarm clothing patch that eliminates body odor through nanotechnology. And finally, if you're ready to relax and slip into some summer reading, we're giving away an iPad complete with a bamboo DODOcase -- hit the link to enter!

Too bad solar panels too need to be replaced every couple of years
@MoonWalkerCTE
Cheating!! he's got twin mini turbines on the tail of the bike, see them?right above the license plate. :)
@MoonWalkerCTE
THIS kind of reporting makes me happy engadget.
GG Engadget.
Time to get rid of expensive and environtmentally dangerous fossil fuels :D
@MoonWalkerCTE
wrong.
Uh, you guys sort of screwed up on the article. You said Sony unveiled the world's most efficient solar panel, but it was Sanyo. ^^;
fuc that. Join facebook? I get my salsa pre-made tyvm.
Those enclosed motorcycles have been out for a while, and while great for a competition, they are just plain dangerous.
I wish a big manufacturer would come out with a nice enclosed reclined leaning trike.
The Piaggio MP3 could be slightly modified to be perfect for example.
The problem BMW had though were the stupid politicians. When you have a cage, you don't want to be thrown as you'll hit the bikes cage. So just like a car, its perfectly safe to use a seatbelt to prevent that (the cage protects in a fall). Unfortunately, law makers required them to use a helmet. Well, helmets and regular seatbelts don't do well together, since it increases the head's mass excessively (body won't move but head wants to). Thats why racers wear neck braces.
But something like that could easily do 300mpg, be easy to find parking for in the cities, lane split to reduce peak hour congestion, park four easily in a two car garage, and be the ultimate commuter and errands machine.
@Ducman69 theres also those trikes, i think there called raptors
no wait t here called a t-rex there awsome.

You're actually selling SPORT clothing on a tech news website?!?!?
Did anyone ever tell you about a concept called "Target Audience"?
Yay go green
BTW, is it just me or should electric motorcycles LOOK like electric bikes.
They said one of the selling points of hybrids for example was that hybrids cars like the Prius have a unique shape and badges everywhere that scream "I'm eco-friendly, bitch!".
I'd like to see a tron-styled bike or something that clearly distinguishes it from its ICE counterparts. =)
Wim Wenders was right! Now if only the French police would start using those things.
No one will get this reference :(
"And if a peddle-powered ride is more your pace..."
So would you try to sell things to people to power the car? Or did you mean it was PEDAL powered?
