Samsung Galaxy S Pro specs leak out?
Can't confirm these ourselves, but if Android Central's sources are to be believed, these Samsung Galaxy S Pro specs are mighty impressive. Here's what we're looking at: a Sammy-borne 1GHz ARM Cortex A8 processor, a Super AMOLED screen that may or may not be the same 4-inch, 800 x 480 window on the Galaxy S, a strong QWERTY slider with raised keys, front-facing VGA camera, 5 megapixel back camera with 720p video recording capabilities, WiMAX support, and Android 2.1 with some TouchWiz 3.0 customizations. As for qualms, the source does drop "plastic-y" a couple times in a none-too-flattering light. Still, for those who find a lack of physical keys a dealbreaker for the EVO 4G, this might end up being a proper alternate. We'll have to wait and see -- not too long, right Sammy?

Windows 7 Phone Rulez!!!
Rhis is the truth!
@thisisit
How does it 'rule' when it is not even out yet? P.s your avatar is the ugliest thing ever! This is a nice phone. Sprint has stepped it up :)
wait, no WinMo love here?
@Mike Vick
Mike, you should'nt be talking about anyone's avatar and yes there are winMo fans here but you have to admit that's slightly off topic.
@thisisit
Aside from this not having ANYTHING to do with WinMO, that OS has had its time. WP7 looks absolutely horrible (I cant stand the boring home screen, and sub screens which clip all the text); i have my doubts that it will actually take off.
@seanGadget
I dont have a problem with Windows Mobile. Its just way too off topic. Whats wrong with my avatar? Its that of a pro-athlete.
@thisisit
Yes, WinPho7 is going to pwn but this isn't the place for that kind of thing. This article is about an Android phone ... probably the most bad ass Android phone I've ever heard about. Give props where props are due and save the fanboy stuff for the WinPho7 articles.
@Frogboy
weren't we previewing Galaxy S last week? Now Pro is being leaked already.
I'm thinking of getting Evo 4G, but damn how long before Evo II 4G comes out.
@Jollybee
EVO II? Dude, the first one just came out. The EVO and this phone look great. I'm actually torn between this one and the EVO. Sprint has stepped it up in the phone department over the last year. If this screen is a 4 inch screen then I think I'll be sold. I love the 4.3 inch screen on the EVO so we'll see the actual size when the "official" specs are announced. I also doubt that the name will be Galaxy Pro S. I think Sprint is shooting for simple but catchy names for their 4G phones like the EVO 4G. We'll see though when it's announced.
@benthe1
Its still a Sammy and it's still on Sprint. And no, Verizon's network is not shared with Sprint. If you have had both, then you would know the difference. I was even on the PRL with Sprint. And for people saying that it cost too much more. I only pay $5 more with Verizon now (2 phones Droid and Eris and a data card).
@Mike Vick
BOO at the grid keyboard.
@Madcat
Easily the best looking OS. What crack are you smoking?
@Mike Vick This is a sprint branded phone and if you know anything about sprint it means like the author said,"plastic-y". I think I will wait until the first actual phone with Froyo to get back to android.
@cobjones You only pay $5.00 more for the same service on Verizon? Impossible.
-1 for sounding ignorant.
@systox
You did not reply to any comment. Are you trying to downrank Ross Miller?
@Pickaxe
+1 to Ross, I voted just to cancel out your vote.
Samsung still use pentile AMOLED. Sucks. LOL.
@arnoldphone
They look the best...
If this phone comes out within a month I will return my Bold 9650 to get it, this is actually the first Android phone that has been released that I have a desire to own.
@tklr08 what about the HTC "Desire"?
@AwesomeStudios
I'm over HTC's redundant designs. Until they can put something different out I'm not going to consider their products again.
@arnoldphone
Fandroids...... Super AMOLED is pentile type. Sucks. LOL
@arnoldphone
Don't talk about fanboyism. The irony is so thick you can eat it.
@tklr08
What, like a grid of icons :D:D:D
@huzzlehoff
That's how the BlackBerry OS I'm using now is.. But I'm sure you were referencing the iPhone. I've never wanted to own one due to the price. I'm not going to pay triple my current bill for a phone.
@tklr08
Oh Blackberry. I don't know anything about those, I've never even seen one (North EU).
I'm gettin a iPhone 4 this week but dam this phone looks good! Android is sweet, evo feels too big but great phone nonetheless
@creezy8188 Thank god there is someone out there that is getting an iPhone 4, appreciates both OSs, and doesn't bash/troll/diss/whatever fanboys would do on an Android article. I'm guessing you're getting the iPhone because:
1. You want to (obviously)
2. You like the sleek form factor
3. It is your personal preference and iOS works out for you.
I'm just sick and tired of useless troll fanboys coming to Android articles and bashing them. Props to you man
@HipHopIsLyfe37
THIS.
And +1 for creezy for not being a troll and being one of the few to recognize the greatness in BOTH OSes.
@HipHopIsLyfe37
Totally agree with you. I love my HTC Incredible and I can't wait to play with the iPhone 4 when my cousin gets his. Both great OS's.. pick the one you like, enjoy your phone, and appreciate how the competition has benefited us consumers by coming out with all these great phones to choose from!
@creezy8188 This is going to be a nice second phone with my EVO.
@creezy8188
Ramen, bro. EVO looks sweet, but I know I'll be stopping by my Apple store when they get the demo iPhone 4s out. Can't wait!
Even more, can't wait until next year when I qualify for an upgrade. By then, some even more awesome phones will be out!
@creezy8188
feelin the love in this thread
Come on HTC, you've managed to more or less corner the market in the touchscreen only Android phone area, but we really need you to put out a good android device with a physical keyboard.
The Evo brought us Moto's latest giant phone, so surely if HTC makes a good keyboard phone others will follow suit?
@apairofdocs
Im wondering if HTC will come out with a lot of WinMo phones with keyboards like they have in the past. I'm currently on the TP2 but I'm looking to switch to an android device with a keyboard, and this Galaxy S Pro looks legit.
@Zwaag
The device looks awesome and I'm sure that it'll be popular enough that the homebrew scene will cook some ROMs for it to make up for Samsung no-updates policy.
The problem is the price. The Galaxy S is already horribly expensive, and usually slapping the word 'Pro' on something doesn't make it cheaper.
@Zwaag Same boat as you, have a Sprint TP2 and can't wait to switch, and I'd really like a keyboard. But not just any sliding keyboard, I want a tilting keyboard that only HTC seems to make.
not bad. I am a huge fan of the stock android look but the specs on this phone are mighty nice.
@BobStewart
But...this doesn't look like stock Android.
@BigJayDogg3 which is why I said "but".....
@BobStewart
So these are basically the same specs the Galaxy S has. What a surprise.
@SeeKo qwerty keyboard was added (unless I am wrong the galaxy s did not have one)
@BobStewart
Yes. Obviously. ;-)
But everything else seems to be the same. It has great specs for sure. But it wasn't anything to be surprised of considering the already revealed Galaxy S.
@BobStewart
Sorry. I misread. I though you said I'm /not/ a huge fan of the stock android look.
*finds hidey hole*
The perfect companion for my non existent wife that I will add a line for : D
@DefPoet
HA!! I love that statement!!
GIMME. GIMME.
I prefer a unit made by HTC. A "Evo Pro" would be perfect.
But, I'll be buying the Galaxy Pro as soon as it's released.
@Nunya Bizness
same.
800 by 400? And I thought they said oled couldn't up the resolution. I think thisll be my upgrade.
@Openwave
800 x 480 is a fairly standard resolution for Android smartphones. The Desire and Nexus One (both AMOLED) have the same resolution.
