This isn't out on the RSS feeds yet. Seems sometimes these take a long time for some reason.
Haven't had a chance to listen yet, but I figured while I was remembering I'd get a question in:
I'm currently using a Blackberry 8900, partly because of the form factor (I can type pretty quickly with only one hand, essential when I'm out walking the dog or somesuch), but mostly because of the UMA access. I've found this invaluable, as I do a lot of work out onsite at various schools, and each seems to be built like a faraday cage. It's important that I can still be reached, so I hop onto their wifi networks, and people can still call me. Similarly, I've found UMA access to be extremely useful when travelling internationally, as I can use my domestic minutes to make calls back to the US. UMA is, quite simply, a godsend for me. But the Blackberry is starting to look long in the tooth to be charitable, and as far as I can tell, no other phones in the US are available with UMA access. Obviously, I'm already limited to T-Mobile with this, but have you heard of UMA coming to any other platforms such as Android or Windows Phone? I'll be eligible for upgrade in September, and I'd like to know if I'll have more options than just another Blackberry.
Loved, loved, loved the addition of tnkgrl last week, and am looking forward to hearing more from her.
@mmaestro Check out the Nokia E73 (Mode) - it features UMA in a form factor very similar to your BlackBerry, but with better features (3G, 5 megapixel camera, WebKit browser) - $70 on contract from T-Mobile.
@tnkgrl You know, you replied while I was listening to the podcast. I haven't really considered Nokia before, but I have to admit the form factor and specs are appealing. I'm really hoping that by the time I'm eligible we'll have UMA on Android, and if I'm lucky Windows Phone, but if not, that's a great option, and may still be even if there are more choices.
tnkgrl FTW! :)
