@grumbles I upgraded my 3rd gen iPod touch to iOS 4 and it retained my custom title and everything, I'm not jailbroken anymore and it still kept it! Wow!
@SeNiLe911 Where's the "More than one problem" option?
So far I have had Random crashes, Photos aren't rendering properly, Photo's locked up all together, some apps no longer working with 4.0, and i'm sure there are more.
@grumbles That's what Apple told us, so we turned the entire Enterprise bridge into an Apple Store. I'll let you know how the new update is working out if we can restore enough function to avoid this asteroid we're barreling towards. At least I'll soon be able to play Farmville on my command chair!
Apple products always "just work". Amazing how it is a totally homogeneous platform and they still can't make it work right. Now that's bad software. Just imagine if they tried to run iOS on different types of phones lol
It's kinda interesting how this latest software upgrade has had so many varying issues...
I upgraded my latest generation 64 gig iPod Touch, and iOS works great, so does multitasking. I definitely notice a bit more lag...kinda disappointing. Everything works normally though...
@dicobalt They do get it right, and there obviously having problems right now, with the preorders randomly cancelling and stuff, ios is NOT bad software I do not know how your not in oblivion yet
I cant even restore to iOS4, iTunes gives me an error of "3014"
My device is running jailbroken 3.1.2 and I have been able to restore from fresh firmware and jailbreak that firmware for the entire time, until I tried to restore to iOS4. Now I cant even restore to 3.1.2 or 3.1.3 (keeping in mind I am in fact using the necessary iTunes version, 9.1 for lower than iOS4, iTunes 9.2 FOR iOS4.
During the time of frustration, I decided that I wont be updating to iOS4. Im just going to stick to my 3.1.2 and wait until i recieve my new iPhone 4 :)
@Wiizer I think it's a shame that it's always such B&W. Rather than seeing an I use "another smartphone" or something, people think it's a shame that *their* brand is excluded. Plenty of Symbian & RIM users and people that are choosing Android devices other than HTC.
*not to mention dumbphone owners, but maybe we can agree their opinions don't count /s.
That seriously sucks. But really? I'm sorry, it's kinda sad that you're saying "Oh well, I can't upgrade my perfectly good current hardware, guess I'll just wait to see if the new stuff works any better!"
Stockholm syndrome for the technology age. People begin to feel sorry for their wireless provider despite the fact that they're paying the bill...
Grumbles your an idiot. I've had major issues first I updated an 8gb 3G which took almost 3 1/2 hours from start to finish.. Second was a 16gb 3GS the update process took half the time and was completely full on storage, and the 3G wasn't even half way.. Needless to say the 3G is slower then before and the 3GS just crashes... Thanks a lot apple now I have 2 phones that hardly work... They worked flawlessly on 3.1.3 but thanks again...
@krishansy on the real, I didn't have a problem with the phone, on the other hand I had quite a few issues updating due to the fact I'm using a pc. When I had a Mac I had absolutely no problem with any hardware by apple. Once I got the update all I can say it's freaKing sweeeeeeetttt!!! Although I'm going to be honest this should have been there from the beginning.
@SeNiLe911 Uncheck sync photo library then recheck and sync. ITunes will re-optimize the photo library for iOS4 then they will render properly. I redid mine and that did the trick.
@grumbles My only problem is I have an iPod Touch 2nd gen so I can't use multitasking and wallpaper... I'm gonna claw out my eyeballs waiting for a jailbreak!!
@andrewia Extremely slow backups are apparently a common problem for this update. Mine was chugging along for 8 HOURS using up 40-50% of my quad core phenom the whole time... until I simply gave up. What the hell is it doing??
@grumbles Everything runs smooth for me except for home screen wallpaper. My old wallpaper appears smudgy and out of focus when viewed in the 3GS (all of them) vs how it used to be. I've got an example here -> http://twitpic.com/1ysl7y and the source file -> http://twitpic.com/1ysme0
Sony's just released a 15.5-inch addition to its VAIO S Series that not only adds a crucial bit of extra display acreage, but also bumps things up to a full 1080p.

Apple products don't have problems, Engadget.
@grumbles
Then, I must be using a fake product, since mine has problems from time to time.
@grumbles werd! only apple servers
@grumbles
They left out the HTC option again... for shame.

@grumbles I'm having trouble getting my iPhone 4. LOL jk I have a Pre
@grumbles
Well if they didn't, they do NOW!
@grumbles
The fact that the multitasking rollout resulted in OS support yet little multitask-ready app support...
Etc.
@grumbles Backed up phone before the upgrade, restored the phone, but only got applications back. Music had to be manually re-synced from iTunes.
@grumbles PUAAN PUAAN PUAAN
@grumbles
I had extreme slowdown until I restarted my phone. Now everything is a lot smoother than even 3.1.3. I love it
@grumbles Yah I know it's weird that this is so widespread, I had a few problems that fixed themselves at the start, but they didn't fix themselves
@krishansy You must be using a Mapple prouduct, then.
@grumbles Did fix themselves*
@SeNiLe911

@krishansy Those are strategically planned problems, thus, a feature.
@grumbles

Other: No homescreen wallpaper or screen orientation lock on my iPod Touch 8 GB...

My battery life is a little less than it used to be, but no where near as bad as with OS4 Beta 1.
Earlier article said no desktop wallpaper but mine works great! Its great how you can use different images for your background and lock screen.
@uckApple
That seriously sucks. But really? I'm sorry, it's kinda sad that you're saying "Oh well, I can't upgrade my perfectly good current hardware, guess I'll just wait to see if the new stuff works any better!"

@tklr08
That's because that custom title is stored in your backup so when you restore it from backup you get the title.
@grumbles Luckily I'm on iPhone version 1.0. I'll never have an update problem again!
@dicobalt And that is why they don't do it.....Dolt.
Grumbles your an idiot.

@jake5ba "Grumbles your an idiot."
@dicobalt
Totally agree with you!!!!
@hunterholder http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7L2fsubA2-c
@grumbles
You know what sucks? Apple probably won't fix ANY of these problems until iOS5!!
Has anyone else noticed that apple pretty much just stopped putting out patches for their devices? We get one OS update per year seemingly...
I'm still waiting for wifi fixes for my damn ipad!
Lets hope ios4 runs a hell of a lot better on the new hardware Thursday...
@SeNiLe911 Uncheck sync photo library then recheck and sync. ITunes will re-optimize the photo library for iOS4 then they will render properly. I redid mine and that did the trick.
I couldn't even install. My 2G Touch can't upgrade because iTunes hangs while updating.
@asharillc I take it you've dealt with an Apple Xsan. Even Apple's techs could get ours working right.
@MobileAppDeveloper Doh! I should say that Apple's techs could NOT get ours working right with the video guys' Macs.
@silencets Just wait till your reception starts going like mine did.....
@Broseph now that you mention it battery life is a little worse
@grumbles My only problem is I have an iPod Touch 2nd gen so I can't use multitasking and wallpaper... I'm gonna claw out my eyeballs waiting for a jailbreak!!
@andrewia

@asharillc
yea everyone knows that. iOS 4 can't give problems.
but trying to jailbreak it is giving me problems...
@grumbles
They do when they touch Windows boxes. LOL!!!!
Talk about clickbait, bring on the whiners!!!
@dicobalt
Indeed it just works. But working well or not is another issue. ;)

I had an interesting one - iTunes saw I had 1100 photos, but Image Capture and the iPhone itself did not. Did a restore and all was good.
Was tking ages to download, so l left my phone connected by usb and went to bed. woke up to a bricked phone 0x000065. Nice. Just restoring now...
@grumbles everytime my mac has a problem, I think of beach balls, and a few minutes later everything goes back to normal.
