Sony Ericsson X10 Mini teardown reveals densely packed, tiny hardware
The crew at iFixit were jonesing for something to disassemble recently, and Sony Ericsson's X10 Mini seems to have been the nearest thing they could lay hand and screwdriver upon. We'll admit HTC has us kind of spoiled with the colorful interiors of its phones, so we were a little underwhelmed by the demureness of the X10 Mini. Everything is packed into the utilitarian logic board, and although you get to decouple the screen and antenna assembly, it's still mostly a thick slab of highly integrated technology. Still, if you want to see a Qualcomm MSM7227 all naked and exposed to the elements, this is your chance. The source link contains all the intimate photography you could wish for.

Shocker
@SteveBaldmer
wheres the Courier Jack@ss
@SteveBaldmer i know, i totally expected to see large, loosely fitted hardware in there.
It's a nice little phone.
Fills the niche of a smartphone for people who want something small.
Just a shame that it is so fat. 16mm is too much for a phone who whats to be small!
@Inside What they reall need to do is concoct a way to fit that handset in the metal/faux leather body of the original F480 Tocco. It'd be amazing.
"We'll admit HTC has us kind of spoiled with the colorful interiors of its phones, so we were a little underwhelmed by the demureness of the X10 Mini."
Of course! Fancy colours is such a feat compared to a super small mobile. Engadget fails again.
BTW this is the world's smallest Android phone and has won a RED dot design award.
@Kingdom of Norway Too bad SE failed at the software part then..
@Wello Have you read anything about the X10 minis software? This is not the X10... Check the reviews it's getting in Sweden: http://www.prisjakt.nu/produkt.php?o=563571
there should be a Electronics Porn section somewhere on the site.
@Zylam
Because I love fapping to dissected women.
root anybody?
It doesn't matter what hardware is in there. I did promotional work for SonyEricsson for a few months, and every phone I dealt with broke. None of them were made with worthwhile materials. I'll not soon pay money for a SonyEricsson phone.
@landmein : Next time you'll get fired, I hope it will be from Apple so we can read your best words upon them.
@landmein
I have never heard that SE phones are fragile. In fact, I think that's kinda ridiculous. I've had 4 of them over the past many years and none of them broke. I even dented the hell out of an old aluminum one on a metal phone pole and it worked great. And the glass never scratched despite sharing my pocket with keys.
You actually worked for this company and hated their stuff? That's strange. Maybe they fired you or something. I think other phone makers have better software, but I love the build quality of SEs. I think that's their strongest point.
I've been using a C905a for a while now. A dumbphone on a $30 plan that surfs the web via wifi for free and takes much better photos than a $100 standalone camera. Has FM radio, XMB style media player, etc. Sure, it sucks compared to a modern smart phone. There's just no comparison. But it was free and it's very cheap to operate, and most of all, it's a tank that I can rely on in very tough use.
@fiduce I quit; good one.
