wow kid already breaks the new phone
@GriffinS And ?
@jayjaync he didnt like that one, maybe he will like the evo 4g.
@GriffinS
i thought we were done talking about the outated two-tone grey brick known as nexus one?
did i mention it has a TRACKBALL when the phone arady has a touchscreen? talk about redundant. if the iphone added a trackball everyone would laugh. if the iphone looked like a two tone grey brick with a hacked-together os we would all laugh as well.
@kid300 Just admit androids ugly
I realize you're a troll and I'm feeding you, but I agree. Nexus one is one of the ugliest phones out right now
@GriffinS I admit that i'm a huge Android fan and i have 3 different Android smarthphones, and i always try to keep my self updated with all the gadget news, but why in every Android/iPhone article we need to bash the other side? I know that it's pointless to argue about this, since most of the fanboy's are more stubborn then a brick, but can't we Android users try at least to transmit a more classy (call it nice) attitude versus the other side? I sure don't mind people to call me Android fanboy, but i sure hate being bashed cause other Android fanboy's just know how to flame/troll.
On topic, still no update on this side :C
@GriffinS I was asking, how does this link relate to the news ?
@GriffinS
Froyo! Froyo! Froyo!
@kid300 Just admit androids ugly
Just admit it, your an ugly ass troll that is putting absolute no intake into this artle and its comments and your just showing to the world you are as ignorant as the next troll, let's see you build an OS that is used by major world manufacturers, let me see you do that little troll, but if you can't there's always the bridge for you:)
@kid300 Just admit androids ugly -
Nah, won't do that. Turns out that it's a very subjective thing. Personally while I think that the new iPhone is quite attractive (stealing a lot of cues from Motorola, as an aside), the 3GS and before are terribly, terribly ugly. Yet so many were so certain that they were the cat's meow purely because they were told that they were the cat's meow.
I quite like the look and the feel of the Nexus One. Given that it's my phone, I don't particularly care, honestly, what YOU think about it, as I didn't buy it for your pleasure.
It is so outdated! You couldn't be more right! It has a 1 gig processor, OLED screen, fastest mobile browser and mobile OS around...nevermind, you're one of those clueless idiot commenters.
so quick question:
i have the FRF72 firmware, which is a developers build. would i get the OTA FRF83 too? or i have to restore to 2.1 update 1, the consumer version?
@SoulWeaponry
honestly i think the nexus one is one of the est looking phones out there i only wish it had the back of the incredible and the pixel density of the iphone 4
Nexus One without FroYo:
PEW PEW PEW
Nexus One with FroYo:
O o

@Misunderstood 90s Kid
I agree iphone us sexy also huzzah for the world of cool gadgets I dreamed of as a kid...
N1
@vlad786 you'll still get the update no worries
@kid300 Just admit androids ugly
You're stupid, iPhone 4 is two tone black and grey brick, your point?
@DeuX
The hell man? Get your logic and reasoning out of hear!!
/s
@Zalgo
Le sigh.
*here*
Can we please get an edit button? Is it too much to ask for? Is AOL that cheap?
@vlad786 you should still get the OTA as it automatically recognizes that your build is not the most current
@Plazmic Flame I lold a bit
@kid300 Just admit androids ugly - you sound kind of .. stupid?
@kid300 You're such a dumb Steve Job's balls licker. You don't realize how awesome the trackball is you douche until you try it. I speak from experience, I had the iPhone 2G and 3GS until I saw the light that is Android.
Point is, it's there when you need it (and yes, there are times you do need it, trust me), and if you don't use it...simply ignore it.
If you just like touching something all the time...don't you get enough touching yourself??
@spielnicht
The FRF72 to FRF82 is on Google's server now. Ran the update and all protected apps are back now.
@tnicolaou I love how everyone questions how phones like the Nexus One (and the G1 for that matter, back in the day) "still exist" and yet they're the first ones to get the latest and greatest. Dedicated dev community or not, the G1 and N1 are Google's babies and they'll continue getting all the love any other phone does until they too become outdated... at which point the community takes over and keeps them competitive!
Trackball, touchscreen, slideout QWERTY... who's running Froyo now and who will be running the official version first?
#stopintraAndroidhate
@blindguymcsqueezy
Still no EPE54B (AT&T) love :-(
@DeuX
I agree with you one hunid. I'm an Android user and I feel need to check some of you in my own community. To the whiny and complaining Android commentators, please step yo game up. There's no need to troll and b*tch in every article. You and I both know Google has won this war. They made a shrewd calculation back in 2007 to be the Microsoft of the mobile platform and supply the world with a 'free' mobile OS--and make their money on the back-end. Simply put, nearly every mobile OEM and Android will be better than a singular company producing a singular device. It will take a few iterations, but this is Windows/Mac all over again. I give props to Apple for kicking off this inflection point. I ain't gonna sit here in every article and trash them, when the very device I use owes its existence to them.
So Android users, stop with wimpering and conspiracy theorizing. You make me look bad.
Update my evo please
@DDiaz007 Why would a perfect device need an update?
/s
@pika2000
That is a good point. My evo is near perfect, but I still want Froyo. Mostly for the bluetooth voice dialing.
@sawyertt I want to see how the 2.2 internet sharing works with the EVO and what can be done to undo Sprint's crippling of it.
I really like the bigger screens of the evo/droidx/streak, but I'm also that guy that craves the latest version of software products. If moto/Dell/htc slack, I'll have to settle for nexus one
@IVER23 same, I'd rather have the N1 for fresh OTA's, rather than wait for 2 months until I get the new one, but by that time the next one would be releasing =/
Fragmentation at its best! Thank goodness for xda :)
@IVER23 I'm in the same boat. I have the N1 and already running Froyo since the past two releases. I really like the Droid X and the bigger screen but I'm debating whether I should move to it cause I don't have the patience to wait!
@IVER23
to be honest if you pick up a largely popular phone like the EVO then xda should have it sorted for you. I have a desire which sold here (UK) before the N1, and the community is barely a few days behind on the new stuff they really are amazing guys!
Cyanogenmod6 (2.2) is apparently coming to a bunch of new devices so the EVO may be one of them...check it out!
Is this official? How about for Nexus one with AT&T 3G support? Come on Google, you said you don't care about other manufactures not keeping up and you would just push updates. The Nexus One is your freakin phone, so bring it out already. I'm inching closer and closer to the buy button.
@pika2000
I second that!
Because for some reason I want that FroYo.
Yeehaw! If google doesn't want to lose the game, they shall roll out Froyo for all devices EVEN the G1.
@ryan420 In the US, the Nexus One is the only Android phone sold officially unlocked. All the other Android phones are provider-locked, so they are at the mercy of the respective wireless carriers, and I doubt any of them would give 2.2's free tethering feature a pass.
@pika2000 Don't know if tethering will be there, but T-Mo has posted a letter in it's subscriber magazine promising 2.2 for the entire MyTouch line, and soon. The tagline on the piece is "No device left behind"
I'm pretty sure the G1 isn't included though...
@MeanSpyvie T-Mobile/HTC promised a 2.x update for the myTouch 3G last year. Where is it?
@pika2000 In Canada, for example, we have no unlimited data plan so carriers do not care on how you spend your little gig
:o!
Have they removed all the crap running in the background so that it eats less battery this time ??
@hell hound well they said it's 450% faster and I've tried it (it's very snappy) so I guess yea.
@jazam2010
Seems the time to by is now. Show some love for us UK folk too!
Hopefully when Gingerbread is released the handset makers won't need to cover the phones with themes/skins. That'll insure us timely updates! On a side note......COMON HTC plzzzz release froyo for EVO fast!
@jazam2010
I agree they need to hustle up now that its official. No three month bs
@jazam2010 -
HTC doesn't want to make the same products as Motorola, and Motorola doesn't want to make the same product as Samsung, or Sony, or LG. The skins might not be for you, but maybe they work for a lot of the population that honestly has no idea about Android versions and honestly don't care. They just want to use Facebook and send tweets and access a calendar.
Vendor differentiation will never go away. Hopefully they can mature the code such that it is modular enough that adapting to new foundations is not such a big ordeal.
