You waited patiently for the
Dev-Team to pull together all the developer betas and now it's time for your reward: PwnageTool 4.0 has been released. The latest hack from team
jailbreak works with previously jailbroken iPhone 3GS devices with the old bootrom, all iPhone 3G models, and yes, the second generation iPod touch too. It doesn't work with the original iPhone and other iPod touch models and, as always, there are plenty of caveats and bold print warnings to heed. But if you manage to weave your way into a jailbroken device (as we did with our iOS 4 iPhone 3G using redsn0w) then the latest copy of ultrasn0w will now unlock all basebands released since 04.26.08, including the updated version found in iOS 4. So get cracking kids, and remember, buckle up, back up, and be safe.
Update: 4.01 has already been released to fix an iBook issue.
SWEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEET!!!!
@Juggernaut408 wheres the windows version?
@Juggernaut408 Good Job Dev-Team!!! But since AT&T's new data plans are limited now, tethering is pointless now... sucks for iPhone users..
@Juggernaut408 Ahhh the dev team and their toys...
Now we just need to wait for an iPhone 4 jailbreak. You can do it guys:)
They don't develop for windows. Go check their site for a full explanation.
@liftedngifted1
um, if you already have the iphone then you can keep the unlimited 30 a month plan. So, that will be me =D.
@Juggernaut408
wish me luck on this one!
@Juggernaut408
I know, this is awesome. All i'm doing now is waiting for the comment of another desperate soul needing to express their love for their EVO. Oh so sad.
@Juggernaut408
No iPod touch 3G support?
:(
@Juggernaut408
If you have to jailbreak it, they missed it.
@liftedngifted1 For iPhone 4 users, I think iPhone 3GS users are grandfathered bc of their contracts, so it's not completely pointless and there's no reason to segregate the marketplace. Also, tethering will be nice for short internet bursts on the go like writing emails or word docs then emailing, you don't need an unlimited plan to take advantage...per se.
@SolidSnake
They don't because they are incapable. Geohit manages to make a windows and osx version oh his software.
Dev team = just hacker
Geohot = hacker and code (went to school for it )
Woah, slow down here. I love me some Geohot, but the Dev teams releases are the way they are because this stuff is more easily programed on the Mac. It's just how it is. I love them both.
@seanGadget
Funny how the only person mentioning the EVO is you. lol.
@SolidSnake
That's just laziness. ;) if they wanted to a Windows version could be made in less than a day if they had stuck to their xpwn cross platform idea
@DefPoet
The funny thing is that Geohot is still in school for programming :)
@dalex7777
If you say "they missed it", you blew it.
@TjK who still uses windows these days..
@dalex7777 You have to jailbreak the Evo to get 60fps and wifi-N
@liftedngifted1 But isnt it true that if you had unlimited before the change dont you get to keep the plan?
@nathanrobinson Only 90%+* of the computer market share.
@Juggernaut408
what the hell ipod touch 3rd gen gets left out in the cold again woo hoo how long until our compatible jailbreak comes?!
God bless the dev-team.
Fuck *
Its crazy sometimes how well they time things :).
time for some creativity...
but why? from what i hear from all the apple fanboys, ios4 is the most amazing operating system for phones, no need to change it right? oh wait.
@huskie fluff Same with Android..oh wait.
@huskie fluff you're an idiot. this has nothing to do with OS functionality
@shibbybypass hey, i can customize my operating system without hacking it.
http://img291.imageshack.us/img291/1954/snap20100621042144.png
5 mines woth of work, and hey, i can do whatever with it as i see fit. hows apples ios4, oh wait.
@cheezeweezle also if this has nothing to do with os functionality why are you doing.
as you may know jailbraking unlocks operating system features, frees you from deadlocks and such.
SO with that said THIS has something to do with os functionality.
@huskie fluff
A non jailbroken iPhone is for the majority, those who want a great stable device to work and work extremely well.
A jailbroken iPhone is for the minority, those who are more advanced than the regular, and demand more customization and tools.
Android is for the same type of people above, those who would like an open OS, except this time, its for a lazy bunch who like the look and geeky feel of android, but dont want to have to do anything to crack it open.
A rooted android device is for the even more advanced android user, who wants all power.
My point here is, its all up to personal preference. If you want a stable semi-locked fully optimized-with-its-hardware OS, that can easily become open and backed up by a Cydia store which has much much more tools than android and its already open environment (which still even needs to be ropted, again), go with iOS.
If you want a semi-open unoptimized-with-its-hardware OS, and want to have some power right out of the box, but also want all the power by rooting your device, go with Android.
@uckApple igot mine roooted. 1.2 ghz is always ftw, although a little unstable when it gets hot (using gps on the car dock while traveling can have random restarts.
@huskie fluff iPhone users don't care what Android can do. They're using iPhones because, while it can't do everything, it's the overall best package. This shouldn't detract from your enjoyment of Android so STFU. We don't care.
The thing is, while the iPhone is definitely not the most functional device, it has become a status symbol.
"Oh you have an iPhone 4?!?!?"
"Oh you have a Nexus One? What is that like an iPhone wannabe? Is that T-Mobile's version of the iPhone??"
That's just the way it is sadly.
@Bskballa92 yea I know. I have yet to own a anpple ipod/etc but I have played with them. I wasn't really impressed with how my fried droped his ipod 3 feet and it broke.
Same as when I tested the ipods audio output capabilities (via headphones and the speaker) and wasn't impressed with the fact my 5 year old Nokia 5300 beat it out in those catagories: / I'd like me a nexus one or maybe that new droid x maybe when I get my own Verizon account soon (using moms Verizon account have 2 droids emplayed in my robotic army)
@huskie fluff
Take a typing and spelling class man. How old are you, 13?
@huskie fluff Considering the amount of spelling errors you're making.... you're not doing the physical phone QWERTY keyboard's reputation any favors.
@huskie fluff Hey, why not use the super duper awesome auto correct feature on your phone.... oh wait.
@Siryj hardware keyboards dont have autocorrect, but you wouldnt know that would you?
anyway, i would hardly say that using a physical keyboard would help you spell well, especially when your laying on your bed and its 4 am.but again, i guess you iphone people wouldnt know anything just speculations and lies eh?
Dev team < 3
Does this work on iPod Touch 8gb MC?
If u already have a jailbroken iPhone there's no real need to upgrade to iOS 4 cause a jailbroken iPhone has almost all the features of iOS 4 already
@Console fanboy
Well... In my opinion, it's a bit more well done on Apple's end. Besides, what will you lose upgrading? Other than speed for the iPhone 3G...
I love how you have to jailbreak so called "best smart phone in the market" to do what you want it to do. LOL
sad
@pinktacoyummm Lol not really what's sad is that the people who make the best smart phones are also the most locked up an protective. Just sit down and stop crying about your crap phone :)
@Rig0 Last time I checked htc evo is not locked up and its not crap. lol
thats what I own right now.
@Rig0 whats also sad is that you like to be told what you shouldn't have in you iphone. its pathetic to be controlled by s.jobs. How does it feel to be someones b!tch? lol
You really dont understand who Apple is targeting do you..
You think they are targeting the tech-oriented bunch? Because they arent.
They are going after the majority of the folks who dont understand technology, those who want something shiny, something they know is really stable and gets the job done.
Thats why jailbreaking was created. It is the Apple version of power, of customization.
A non jailbroken device is for the majority, the people who dont want to understand, and just want to enjoy an incredible device.
A jailbroken device is for the minority, the people who want that power, who want that customization, and still enjoy an incredible device.
Android users are basically the same as a jailbroken device user, they want the power, and they like the customization and openness of android.
Personal preference is at play when it comes to Apples and Androids OS, so just let it be already.
@uckApple Posted this in Josh review. When Josh said "its the best smart phone in the market". I said don't you mean "best dumb phone in the market".
I totally I understand who iphone is targeted but what I don't get is. Why do lot of you nerds sweat it since it lacks lot of features every year.
