Primo Battery Cube brings extra life to mini or micro-USB devices, is not actually a cube
If you, like we, were disappointed by mophie's unwillingness to support anything lacking an Apple dock port in its new line of juice packs, here's an alternative. PhoneSuit is launching the Primo Battery Cube, a decidedly non-cube-shaped device that is perhaps a bit chubby but manages compatibility with either micro or miniUSB devices. The $40 battery, which launches on July 12, charges over USB, packs a 1,000mAh cell inside, and sports four LED lights on top to give you an idea of just how many of those milliampere-hours have yet to be served. Oh, and it's shape, because of its unequal sides it's actually a cuboid, not a cube. But of course you knew that, you geometry whiz you.

1,000mAh .
Only 1,000mAh.
I'll buy a second battery instead.
@Excalibur agree give me twice that and we're talking
@Excalibur Exactly. Don't understand this product. Takes up about the same size as a battery, so why not just carry a battery?
It might make sense for MP3 players I supposed, but not phones.
@Excalibur I walk around with a 20,000 mAhr device, which charges phones and laptops for days. 1,000 mAhr seems anaemic by comparison.
@beardoc
What's the name of it?
@andysexton
For people who have 2 phones (I have a work BB and a personal Android phone), you dont need to have multiple spare batteries. You can also use it for any device that is microUSB or miniUSB. For me it would possibly make sense. Too bad it's only 1000mAh though
@Excalibur It's really big to say it's only 1000mAh * 5V = 5 Watt Hours since rechargeable AA cells are commonly 2500mAh * 1.2V = 3 Watt Hours. So by that calculation I think it should only be 2/3rds bigger than an AA cell plus a little space for circuitry.
That's even assuming it's NiMH, if its Lithium it should be smaller.
@petebob796 I'm would be using it for a HD2 seeing as thats the only device I have that would use the above item. 1000 is simply pointless in that regard
@Excalibur 1000mah isn't tiny. It can give you few hours talk time. If you buy a spare battery for your phone you need a separate cradle to charge that battery too.
@Excalibur Have you ever tried to charge a second battery? It's such a pain.
@N900androidOS
not sure which one beardoc has, but i have an 18000 mAh Energizer one that i carry around for my laptop, netbook, and iphone. comes with a bunch of different tips and you just mix and match what you need.
http://www.energizerpowerpacks.com/us/products/xp18000/
it's kind of big, but it beats carrying around 3 different chargers/ac adapters.
not to be that guy, but well, I'm that guy - you meant 'its shape' not 'it's shape'.
@xxxsam what guy?
@Gutsy Gibbons
That grammar nazi :)
Oh, and it's shape, because of its two equal sides and one unequal rounded side it's actually a squircular prism, not a cuboid. But of course you knew that, you geometry whiz you.
@33Thirty
You are so correct that i hate you -__- you are douche nozzle of the day sir. Enjoy it. Oh, but you did make one mistake. Third word, it should be its, not it's. Wait...... I'll just be taking that title back from you -_______-
@Unverified 2 This Time Its Perso
I know, I intended to add (sic) after "it's", but hit the submit button to early.
And please remember to capatilise the word "I".
Kind regards,
Douche Nozzle of the Day
1000mAh is ridiculous. I'll take the Just Mobile GUM or the New Trent stuff.
No pack for iPhone?
@Rottie "No pack for iPhone?"
djeeezezzz
iPhone is already taking over accessories shelves at stores
so for the love of god don't get all "what about iPhone"-like with this little "squircular prism".
Really WAY too small. Won't even charge my Desire once fully.
@shake
It's a 1.25" x 1.25" device with 1000mAh.
They have a larger device (3.25" x 2.0") that does 2000mAh as well.

My Evo stock has a 1500mAh battery. This would give me a total of 2500 mAh when I need the extra power. Not bad since I can also use it for my blackberry and other devices that take the micro/mini usb
Seriously, 1000mAh? When I look at the dimensions of the 1400-1500mAh batteries built into modern handsets, it's just not clear why this device (which looks big enough to house *at least* two of those batteries) has such a low rating.
If you're gonna carry one of these things around, it better have more than 1000mAh to offer, for it to be worthwhile.
Nothing's new here. I'd rather have this one;

It's a 2,000 mAh Li-ion with AC adapter built right into device. I'm using a older one of these. When connected to wall plug, they will first charge the USB device plugged into it, and after charging finishes it automatically start to charge internal battery. It's so great to be without separate ACs for each devices.
This is by far the best solution. 4400 Mah battery that can be used with any usb device. http://www.appletell.com/apple/comment/appletell-reviews-the-just-mobile-gum-plus-power-pack/
just pick up a energizer 18000mAh battery back and be done with it if you dont mind the size.
1000mah is enough to give you few hours talk time. This thing is super tiny. look at the size. You can use it to charge multiple phones, bluetooth headsets almost anything that charges by USB. I like it. It's like a swiss army knife of power.
If you buy a spare battery you have to also buy a cradle to charge that battery while you phones in use. Its cheaper to buy this thing and just keep it handy for emergencies.
I think I'll wait for independent reviews before I leap, but it seems like a good concept. I could definitely carry one of these in my left back pocket.
That said, the micro-USB ports on some handsets aren't exactly sturdy. Having something physically hang out of and be mechanically supported by one doesn't sound like a good idea for device longevity.
I think this Cube is great. I can charge different devices, Android Phone, Camera, etc. I hate trying to charge two separate batteries for my phone, it is such a pain, and you have to buy a separate cradle to charge a second battery (more trouble than its worth). This is an easy way to have backup power. I'm in!
I'll get it for my evo
Ehhhh I don't think it would be good for your charging port if the battery wiggled around it would slowly mess the port up
