18-button WarMouse Meta mouse shipping June 28th
You've seen our review of the WarMouse Meta mouse (once more infamously known as the Open Office mouse), and it looks like you'll soon be able to get your hands on all eighteen of those buttons yourself -- the company has just announced that the mouse will finally start shipping on June 28th. As expected, it will set you back $79.99, and give you an analog joystick and a 5600-CPI laser sensor to go along with all those buttons and endless configuration options. It doesn't exactly look like it'll be widely available just yet, though -- especially considering that the WarMouse website still requires that you fill out a .doc file and send it in to place your order.

The antithesis of the Magic Mouse, yet somehow equals in price and impracticality.
Reminds me of longcat vs tacgnol.
@Ducman69 So what elves are going to be using this? That's the only way I see those buttons really being usable.
@Ducman69
do we really need multiple articles advertising this pos mouse?
@OmbreDesigns Not elves, but little duos of spider teams... It's for those "spider bots" you hear about that google uses to fetch search queries...
@Ducman69
looks like it got some disease . .
@Ducman69
This is good for people with one arm. Very good.
@Ducman69
Do the buttons have a harder "click" to them or are they like a keyboard key that has some give?

18-button WarMouse Meta mouse shipping June 28th.
18-button WarMouse Meta mouse discontinued June 29th.
Do i need a keyboard if i buy this?
@applehateboy No, but you'd need a smack in the back of the head if you did. :D
Logitech still ranks as king of kings in the mouse department IMO;
http://www.logitech.com/en-us/mice_pointers/mice/devices/5845
ergonomic, darkfield laser (works even on glass), micro-usb charging, nano unifying-receiver, and revolution scroll mechanism. if any mouse deserved a highlight spot on engadget, thats the one.
@Ducman69 As far as erognomics I find my wrist hurting after hours of use. I like the sensitivity and scrolling of the magic mouse aswell as DPI. So I tried the MX, MAN I LOVE IT! Its so amazing! I have the "zoom" button set to scroll so on my mac I can hold zoom and scroll in and out of the entire screen. ... Magical
@Ducman69
No dpi on the fly makes it a fail mouse.
G9 and the G500 get my official stamp of approval for gaming.
Wireless = fail in the field.

The above mouse looks like crap. The plastic looks like its straight out the dollar store. I would be surprised to turn it over to find anything other than a ball underneath that thing. (I know it doesn't)
@A25i Thats what the micro-USB charging is for. If your mouse were to suddenly drop battery (these actually last for a long time though giving you adequate warning of low battery state), you can plug it in like a USB mouse and use it while it charges.
Yeah, just doesn't have the DPI on the fly switch on top, but I can deal w/ missing that one gaming feature.
Personally, my work computer's mouse cord at least always gets hung up on something.
It's a keyboard on a mouse.
@Outsider Actually, where the hell is the left click on this thing?
@Outsider
Top left.
@Outsider
Left click, left click!!! Where is it?
[splat] Friendly down
[splat] I'm down!
This is for WoW people.
@Fyzix
only an idiot would use this for wow
@kid300
I wouldn't personally use it, but I wouldn't say the ones that do are idiots. Especially people that have trouble using modifiers for key binds because their hand is to small or something.
One word: Why?
Question: Why?
@DaHarder Why not?
"Mom, hold the left button to drag the files..."
"Which one is the left button?"
Holy cow, someone gets paid to design crap like this?
what an ugly looking mouse
The Cyborg R.A.T mouse is way cooler than this one.
will I be able to memorize the functions of each button on the mouse?....
Ctrl-Alt-Delete this thing...
@icon808 So manage your tasks with it?
I think that's the general idea.
@manhooo1
probly not they do anything, the middle one cleans your car i think one makes your dinner
If only it had 19 buttons, i would be all over it....... 4 real!.
That mouse reminds me of something I saw on 4chan, once. But it wasn't a mouse, it was a ****.
Why did they stop with adding buttons? I want to see 101 button on this thing, so that it will replace the keyboard entirely. And then, i'll make fun of people who use this garbage.
This is a Mouse for Raider Healers in WoW... If u ever played WoW you know that you need ALOT of buttons for all your Macros.
Never mind the iPhone4 - with this thing, no matter what way you're holding it, it will _always_ be wrong so very, very wrong.
But I do love that you have to order it by filling in a doc file - how quaint!
The scroll wheel is too recessed into the body. Else this would be a pretty 'leet mouse.
Get a Razer NAGA instead. The side buttons are more usable and easier. The mouse also looks way better. Also includes real right and left clicks.
@PathogenX Yes, I have one.
The software kinda sucks though.
i wonder if steve jobs throws up in his mouth a little when he see's something with that many buttons.
Some investor put money into designing this thing. And yet, they put in only 18 buttons, when I needed 19. FAIL
I'd like to give it to my father. It took me a year to teach him to double click. BTW, before he started using my 6 year old computer, he used an IBM 1401 in the 60's.
This mouse would be AMAZING if I still played World of Warcraft!
There is a left click and right click on this mouse right? =\
"No dpi on the fly makes it a fail mouse."
The WarMouse Meta not only has DPI on the fly, but arguably has the best DPI on the fly in the mouse market. You can set up to three different DPI settings from 100 to 5600 DPI for each of the on-mouse 64 applications and switch it instantly by clicking whatever button you assign to DPI Low, DPI Default, and DPI High.
Ergo, no fail. As for the Apple fanbois, it is suggested that they stop genuflecting before the cult of Steve Jobs and think through the rationale for using multiple buttons instead of touch technology. For all its style, the Magic Mouse buttonless approach can never hope to achieve Meta-style functionality because there is no tactile feedback telling the user where his fingertips are.
If you only ever use two commands per application, then this mouse admittedly isn't for you. But if you play games or use applications with 30 or more icons and pull-down commands, it is without question the best mouse currently available. The built-in click tracking feature proves that it will increase basic interface speed by an average of 30 percent.
If I wasn't such a poor friggin' artist, I'd buy one of these! There are tons of one-off-usage keys scattered across the keyboard, so it makes sense to have them in a more conveniently organized group.
However, I've grown an inch in a month and keep growing (seriously), so if I have a pituitary gland tumor, I better get to saving up money... fast!!!
Cuz this mouse is NOT for giants.
I just want a mouse with an actual middle button. Why is that so hard?
I use a mouse with the normal 2 front buttons, a scroll, two front and back buttons, and that's it. That's all I need.
it looks great but is this mouse really comfortable? anyways it's a great invention.
