Hacked N900 blazes through Froyo
While the various and sundry Android manufacturers are all scrambling (or casually strolling) toward official Android 2.2 updates for their manifold handsets, someone managed to get Google's Froyo running on the Nokia N900. Turns out, the two are a pretty great pair, with some super speedy browsing (like, really fast) and decent hardware support outside of an unfortunate lack of memory card support. Hit up the video after the break to see it in action, the browser starts kicking around the 4:45 mark.

wooooooow, that browser is killer. really is the fastest mobile browser. and the N900 had the best untill 2.2 froyo.
@Alexandertron, N900 w/ Maemo 5 still has the best browser, it's a whole different beast than Froyo's built-in browser. It certainly isn't the fastest, but unlike all Android browsers (and I won't even mention completely crippled browsers on iOS and WinMo) it's a complete, fully-featured, desktop-grade browser. That, unfortunately, takes a lot of resources, but I'd rather wait a couple of seconds more to get the best render possible. YMMV.
@incognito...... I started with a N810 and i have previously owned a N900. so ya i know what you mean. the N900 is my dream phone. but the battery life. is what made me sell it off. :( damn shame b/c we were in love. lol but this froyo browser coupled with a high end phone and flash 10.1 idk. google might have done it this time. n900 still does not have flash 10.1 even though it was the 1st phone to be demoed with it. Personally ill take the speed over the flash support. but the maemo browser is still my 1st love. ^_^
It would be nice if the situation could be reversed and be able to run Merging on other Android phones. I can dream can't I?
Question : what about battery life ?
Good to see that froyo is put on n900. Is it possible for user to select between maemo and android when user switches on the device?
Nokia, you see how easy that was? C'MON SON!
@zxcvbnm You should do a blog about... Jerseys! Cheap ones!
Hmm. How'd it go? A messy desk means a messy mind. So what does a clear desk mean? An empty mind?
Duh...
