Huawei's Android 2.2 entry-level phone spied in China, coming in August
Froyo may already be out to the masses in one form or another, but it ain't doing much good with just the one phone semi-officially supporting this Android release, while some other devices are only given a vague release window for the update. Luckily, it looks like Huawei's taking a step further and may be pushing out a 2.2 device in August. According to Engadget Chinese's tipster, this entry-level phone's rocking a 2.8-inch QVGA capacitive touchscreen, 3.2 megapixel camera (possibly with dual-LED flash), and HSDPA 3G connectivity. Can't say we're all that stoked about the screen, but we'll let our wallets do the talking in a month or two -- assuming, of course, that August time frame applies to any region or carrier band we care about. One more pic after the break.

Who do they keep insisting on making such small screens?
@Lucas Some Individuals like smaller phones doing the sacrifice of the size of the screen.
Can you make a call holding it in your left hand
I can see a market emerging for people who want Android hack phones with a plain vanilla install. Something that doesn't need rooting/unlocking so you can install anything you like eg install roms weeks/months before the telco variants. The likes of HTC and Samsung seem to be going out of their way to emulate the walled garden of the iPhone buy many advanced mobile phone consumers (me included) have not taken a shine to this model.
Why is the screen so small? The second LED flash should be on the opposite side instead of on top the other one.
@jckchn
That's how all the cool cats are doing it, LEDs on STACKED, like a G.
In this case though ... phone isn't THAT gangster. -_-
Guess the back of the phone is a reminder that Google is watching you.
@cowthulhu at all times ;)
This doesn't seem bad for an entry level android phone. Reminds me of the Sprint HTC Hero.
First 2.2 to ship?
Damn, Mr. Blurrycam is at it again! Is he shaking less? I think he's back on meds...
Huawei = Why?
@ConceptVBS
Cause it can make calls..surf net real smart phone so ur iPhone can be a shiny brick
@Makali
There are other name brand phones with track records. No need to shell out the dough to bet on an unfamiliar brand with no track record. Also, there isnt anything new that this manufacturer is bringing onto the table.
@Makali
And, no I dont have an iPhone. In fact, I HATE the iPhone if you cant tell from my previous posts.
Why is everyone talking as though this thing is on Sale anywhere in the US or UK? It will probably never land here, so just enjoy blurry pics and youtube reviews, that too in Chinese :P
Is it free? It looks just like my old Vogue/Touch from 3 years ago.
Great. More ugly looking Android phones.
you know it doesn't look half bad, for what they say it is it's good. And it's running froyo to boot...even droidx doesn't have that (not that this is better im just sayin)
