Android 2.2 Froyo FRF85 now available for Nexus One (update: official)
Update: Thanks to a few readers, we've now got a direct link from Google's servers to update from EPE54B to FRF85.
Update 2: Tipster Christian R has sent us a picture of his T-Mobile-banded Nexus One with FRF85, apparently updated from Android 2.1 build ERE27. Has the T-Mobile rollout begun? Not for us, at least.
Update 3: And now we've got a direct link to download a FRF85 build that'll supposedly work for any Android build. We can safely say that it worked for us on a T-Mobile device with 2.1 / ERE27. Download from Google here, and if you need direction on how to do the update yourself, take a cue from our commenters. [Thanks, MRCUR and afinite]
Update 4: And now it's official. Keep an eye on that notification bar if you're itching for the OTA method. So that's one phone down, quite a few to go! [Thanks, cl]
[Thanks to everyone who sent this in]

@weeman001
By the time all the others get 2.2 (probably end of year), The N1 will be starting to get 2.3/3.0. 8^)
I am running FR72 build on NExus One and tried out 44.3 MB signed zip on top of it to get FR85B, but with no luck.
It does not get over FR72....
Any Help???
@techwithraj
Either wait until they hit you with the OTA thats right for you, or get the 72-83 and 83-85b zips, and do a progressive update.
does this fix the pink camera issues that plagues so many Nexus Ones?
Coming from iPhone, how do you get update out of download list in astrology and on root of SD card, get lost at this step. Many thanks.
@wifiguy89
select/highight file, edit/copy use the up folder button, you should be in \sdcard\, edit paste, select the file, edit rename - change to update.zip.
ES file manager is a bit more intuitive IMO, just long press files to get context menu for copy/paste/etc.
"We've pinged Google for answers"
Mr Miller doesn't understand what ping means.
i have a moto droid. to clarify this build is strictly for the n1 even though update 3 says it can work on all android builds?
@mbudofsky correct, for the nexus one only
802.11n is now functional on the Nexus One-
http://www.yafla.com/dforbes/Froyo_Finally_Comes_to_my_Nexus_One/
Which is especially interesting because previously I had to completely disable 802.11n on my AP, as in g/n mode the N1 had significant trouble maintaining a connection, forcing me to set it to g mode only. Now I'm back in g/n and rolling along with a great connection at a distance.
@dforbes
Time to get a 802.11n router
No ERE27 love =[
@TechnoDork - Uh... http://android.clients.google.com/packages/passion/signed-passion-ota-42745.dc39ca1f.zip
is it normal that i still didn't get the OTA update?
Stock N1 on at&t now updated to 2.2. Best US full android experience. Ironic, eh?

sorry for the capital letters. just trying to get peoples attention lol
I too see the ADD button grayed out. Hmmmm.
Does the OTA update work for all Nexus One including Unlocked and Rooted???
As per update 3:
Confirmed working on my ERE27 N1 on T-Mobile UK. Thanks for the instructions. Will give it a play and see if they've broken anything!
Again, as per Update 3, I came from FRF83 and updated using the large file. Updated fine to FRF85B.
@furiannn I tried update 3, installation work fine, it reboots twice then just get stuck on the boot X screen. I don't even get to the animated X screen. Any Suggestions? also am coming from ERE27 rooted and unlocked.
@draperyfalls have you tried performing the update again? Is the update correctly labelled update.zip and not .zip.zip?
I dont have any other suggestions then that, unfortunately. Every time I have performed a manual update, it just worked. Maybe you could download the file again? Same, phone here, bought from the website unlocked and with no contract.
@furiannn- bought the phone new and I unlocked and rooted, but Ill try again. Made sure i didn't label it update.zip.zip, no way LOL
@draperyfalls Rooting the device is probably what has messed things up for you. Cant think of anything else that it could be. I have not rooted my phone.
Thanks Engadget n Co. I just manually updated like the newb I am and everything is running perfectly.
Love Froyo, it's super fast and perfectly enhances many features on the phone. The camera enhancements are great as is the start up speed
$ 600 bucks well worth it.
EPF30 and EPF21B won't be getting the Froyo OTA (maybe not just yet) As confirmed by the Google Support forum:
"Vodafone users will get the OTA update as well as long as you bought the phone from the Google webstore - google.com/phone"
For EPF21B users who just cant wait anymore!
http://szeiger.de/blog/2010/06/29/updating-european-n1-from-epf21b-to-frf85b/
(Tested and working fine, plus will hopefully mean all future updates arrive at the same time as everyone else's!)
Anyone know if this works with the HTC Incredible?
2.2 is Great
Do rooted and unlocked Nexus get the OTA Update? Just curious?
Just tried to go from ere27 to the frf85 from Update 3 in this article and it doesn't work. The zip file is empty...did google take it down??
@kest009
...and the ota just came down, so nevermind
I got the update pushed out today and my Nexus 1 has now taken it's rightful place as the best phone ever. It's noticeably smokin' fast, the camera updates are way cool and easy, pushable chrome-to-phone links, wi-fi hotspotable, there's too much to mention really, and finally, best of all, no freakin' AT&T!
