Microsoft says Kin software update is scheduled for mid-summer

We'd already heard some talk that Microsoft's Kin One and Kin Two phones might be in store for an update, and it looks like the phones will indeed be getting one sooner rather than later. While it remains to be seen if it will include those rumored IM improvements, a Kin support moderator has confirmed on the Microsoft Answers forum that an update is scheduled for "mid-summer," and that it will address "many" of the concerns laid out in the post that prompted the response. That included complaints about battery issues, a suggestion for improvements to the Twitter client (including replies and re-tweets), and a plea for YouTube support. The seemingly in-the-know Conflipper also backs up the inclusion of those Twitter updates, and says the Facebook app will also be updated to let folks view more than three pictures.
Will there be a contract price update too? Please?!?!?!
@a dumb cat I'm pretty sure that they're going to give this a little more functionality than it previously had, especially with the Youtube addition...

So true, I mean I know this is supposed to be for kids but for $30/month for the data plan. The parent that spends $30/month for data on this crap should go see a doctor because they must have been hit on the head real hard.

This is supposed to be an entry level phone. Don't compare it to a full fledged android or win phone.

Between the semi-regular Zune updates, and now Kin updates, at least users can rest assured improvements will be made.
Well hopefully there'll be improvements.

@DoctarPeppar Hmm. The Kin is Ccheaper. And don't get started on on-contract phones, there's no such thing in some countries, such as mine.
@guitarkid The problem isn't that people are holding their Kins wrong, it's that they hold one at all.
@guitarkid Do we really need that much space! Anything over 4gb is fine if you ask me. Plus uploading is very slow.

@grub kins are not as delicate as iphone. i don't have one, and i don't like them. but i have already seen people with kins. Most of them were younger (around 6-8 teenagers) and i also seen some chicks with them (like 3 chicks) in a bar i work.

@guitarkid after the mess that was the sidekick/hiptop about 6 months ago in regards to server issues I'm not exactly sure I'd be getting too worked up about their cloud solution just yet.
As with the others...most teens would prefer an iPhone any day. What exactly does this phone do that younger audiences will be drawn to because the iPhone lacks it? Basically nothing.

So is Microsoft doing all these app updates itself? With every news I understand less why they didn't put Windows phone 7 on these devices. I mean Apple showed them already how to catch teens with the iPod Touch to turn them into future iPhone customers.
I was at the Verizon Store the other day and apparently the Kin is a running Joke among the employees.

I walked into a Verizon store last weekand said I need to upgrade to 5 Kin units. Their was 3 employees who heard me tell the rep this. They all stoped and looked at me like time had stopped. Then I dropped the bomb just kidding! all for of them started to LOL, and one said thats the joke of the month

Just because it doesn't float your boat, doesn't mean somebody else won't like it. The whole it-sucks-because-i-don't-like-it attitude is pretty childish if you ask me.
Yeah, I think the KIN has a lot of mistakes with it, and probably wouldn't buy it either, but there have been satisfied customers who have Tweeted, posted on their blog, made reviews about how they just love the KIN.
@Quikboy My bad brother... didn't mean to offend anyone... take it down a notch... i know of at least 4 people who bought these things and returned them within weeks... so to each his own.. myself, i would never even consider them even if other phones are not available...

I have it on good authority that verizon's sold around 500 kin nationwide, since launch. With an amazing 160 or so in NYC.
