Samsung Vibrant is official on T-Mobile, coming July 21 for $200
When it rains, it pours, ladies and gentlemen -- and tonight, it's pouring high-end Android phones from Samsung. Hot on the heels of the Epic 4G for Sprint and a dash of preliminary official info on T-Mobile's flavor of the Galaxy S, the Vibrant is now 100 percent official with a 1GHz Hummingbird processor and 4-inch Super AMOLED display. Though the physical design of the phone is unique to T-Mobile -- just as all North American versions of the Galaxy S are -- the specs should be ringing a bell by now, and the trend continues through to the 5 megapixel camera with 720p video capture and Samsung-skinned build of Android. It launches on July 21 for $199.99 on a two-year contract, though interested folks will be able to pre-order in Radio Shack locations starting July 1 for $50 (which gets returned to you in the form of a gift card). Oh, and don't worry, entertainment buffs: you will definitely get both The Sims 3 Collector's Edition and a little motion picture called Avatar pre-installed on a 2GB microSD card. Bonus! Follow the break for the full release.

I have my G1 as well. It's shows I have about a zillion app updates pending. Great for backup use, and love that keyboard.
and of course, since Sprint is announcing the Samsung Galaxy Pro with full slide out keyboard, 4g, front facing camera, etc, I don't know why people won't opt for that vs the TMO version. Vz is getting one too but I guess it only has 1gig of memory as compared to 16 gbs in the TMO version.
Still up in the air about whether or not I want to "upgrade" to this phone from a Nexus One w/ Froyo. :/
well the great thing about having a N1 with Froyo is you can wait things out. The N1 is a great performer and better build than many devices. Something really special, in terms of technology and build will have to emerge before I lock into a contract. I'm month to month now.
I am still bummed the thing runs 2.1, we all know that at the speed t-mobile gets out updates anyone who gets this phone wont have froyo till froyo itself is 2 generations old!
Wow, this is exactly the phone that I've been waiting for, except without a front-facing camera, flash, or optical trackpad (keyboard problem largely solved by swype).
C'mon T-Mobile. Sprint is looking attractive (and then my wife would be pissed to have just bought her MyTouch Slide).
touchwiz is very fast and yes its like using a iphone with homescreens and good hardware :D
Mah next phone... $150 please... I need 2 of them
This is great. Maybe I should have waited on my Nexus One? Nah, it's still a lovely phone.
This makes it worth waiting if you have a powerhouse like the N1-

This is interesting as well- http://www.phonedog.com/2010/06/25/rumor-t-mobile-s-project-emerald-is-dual-core-htc-vision/
I think it's worth the wait.
When has a samsung phone ever led the market. People you are counting on an OS. To lead to a successful phone. One day you will all get it you dim wits. Oh I have a samsung galaxy 4 you sound like one big fipshit saying such thing as opposed to saying i have an phone 4. All theSe blogs thrive off all you assholes wanting an iPhone 4. The sooner u realize that the quicker you will all stop
Wasting time explaining how your piece if shit ohone that will have a new sku model in three
Months is better than my iPhone 4.
What's up with the stupid names for Android phones? Until they get a fluid UI adjectives like "incredible", "fascinate", "unbelievable", "superduper", "hyperhyper", "epic" are all a joke when the correct word would be "workskinda".
Why why WHY does this not have an HDMI dock??
I mean I know the iPhone 4 doesn't, but it least it has some sort of TV out....
@Shash450 The phone has bluetooth 3.0. They're really pushing wireless streaming of HD content to televisions, specifically Samsung. That's why.
@Tokyo Yuri
I get that, but not all TVs have that functionality... They could always have done both like most other HDMI phones out there (e.g. EVO). Just seems like a bit of a sad omission considering it offers HD video recording and playback (MKV support w00t!)
Another week, another Android phone. And they all have similar specs. It would be great if the manufacturers would slow down and REALLY focus on one or two phones for at least six months. I love Android, but my head is starting to hurt trying to keep up with all of the phones. Google slowed down, why can't the manufacturers?
I'm in.
It's a good day to be a fanboi
IT would be a FAIL (or more accurately, it would not live up to the sales potential). ALL these "new" phones coming out from Samsung, Motorola, Sony, HTC, etc are NOW a generation behind UNLESS they come out with the front facing camera!. Who wants to buy a generation behind and pay the same price as the iPhone and the EVO with less features? More bang for the buck is the way to go for most people ya think?
Choice is good. Instead of you know... Getting a broken phone this year then the updated version with all the real fixes the following year.
called tmo to get upgrade pricing. they are CLUELESS. they didnt even know about the official web page.
Oh wow, that looks pretty good for $200
Joe
Sad times. I was really looking forward to the SGS - the big-but-not-too-big screen, and the eye popping colors. I kept telling my buddy he was a fool for jumping on the iPhone 4 so quickly (with all of its problems). Now, we learn there that is no front camera - this combined with the fact that it never had a flash in any incarnation. Who's the fool now? You win again, Mr. Jobs.
no camera flash = fail phone
As much as I like Tmobile service I think I am going to have to jump ship back to sprint because on top of having a full qwerty keyboard they also have a flash camera, and a front facing camera. Pretty much everything I want in a phone. Tried to stick it out with you Tmo but sadly after two years of service with you I must say it is about time for me to leave you for another
Can anybody tell me why theres no front facing camera on the official Vibrant site?? WTF???
http://galaxy-s.t-mobile.com/
At least T-Mobile gets THE REAL GALAXY S. Look at the AT&T version of the Captivate. Doesn't even looks like the i900 or the T-Mobile version. I say it's AT&T fault for messing up with the hardware. So I will pass on the Captivate for AT&T. I WANT A GOOD ANDROID HARD Ware soon please. Nice phone for T-mobile though
Is it just me or has the site updated and is there now a camera on the front?
As a former T-Mo employee.. I am betting they mess this launch up as they have most of their recent devices.. and we all know they dont have the network to support their customers needs....nough said..
