Sprint lines up Epic 4G against the competition, likes its chances
In case you needed any more evidence that Samsung's Epic 4G for Sprint is probably going to be awesome, you might take a gander at the competitive analysis they've prepared against the iPhone 4, Droid Incredible, and Droid X as an ego-boosting checklist for reps prepping to sell the phone in the coming weeks. The DLNA support trumpeted, but HDMI's notably missing -- something its EVO 4G sibling has -- and it'll be up to customers to decide whether 4-inch Super AMOLED is better than 4.3-inch LCD. Unsurprisingly, the Epic will "feature" the same $10 data surcharge that the EVO has, something that we're guessing is going to end up being phased in over Sprint's entire smartphone lineup over time -- you know, kind of like those delivery service "fuel surcharges" that end up becoming permanent after a while. Anyhow, the Epic looks killer on paper, but if anything, the chart only underscores how incredibly stiff its competition is going to be. Choice is good, is it not?

@bahoo
The amusing part about the battery comparison is that it ignores how fast the device actually uses battery, which is laughably fast on the EVO. So the EVO needs a bigger batter to do way, way less talk/use time. Nice swerve again by Sprint.
Palm Pre Plus for me.
$114.00 plan for a iPhone on AT&T????? Lol my bill is $87.69 for everything on the AT&T iPhone. And the sprint evo is plan is about $129.00 for everything I had one for a week. And happily returned it as it sucked real bad. Ya have to pay for 4g whether your city has it or not. The phone all around sucked. And sprint is no better horrible service.
4G phones for a company that has hardly any 4G service, even 3G at that. Im on ATT so i cant say too much about this. lmao
It all marketing. I went into a best buy today and they had a poster right in front for the iphone. Back in the cell phone section there were a ton of advertisements for the iphone as well. The sprint section was tucked away without the pomp that the apple section had. Spend 1/3 of your budget on ads and you can rival the iphone.
Why is it on Engadget (post redesign) you cant enlarge the pictures like you can on every other freaking blog in the world?
Id love to read read comparison w/o squinting so hard my contacts might fall out!
Nice swerve on the pricing in the graphic. The iPhone 4 pricing is based on unlimited voice whereas Sprint's pricing is based on 450 minutes. A comparable voice plan on AT&T would knock the price down $30/mo which would, shockingly, put the price per month basically equal.
In short, smartphone pricing is very similar across the board. Nice job trying to pretend it's not, Sprint.
Sprint just keeps getting better. If there's a CDMA iPhone to be had, please bring it it Sprint!
Only thing is Iphone 4 has a 1420mAH battey, not 1200mAH
