iWork for iPhone revealed by AppleCare product description?
AppleCare Protection Plan may cover certain types of damage, but it sure didn't stop up today's alleged leak -- if you pick an unlocked iPhone at the online Apple Store for Canada, Australia or the UK today and click the "Learn more" button on the AppleCare option, you'll be treated to this "iWork for iPhone" containing screen. Coupled with the "Open in Keynote" prompt we saw a few weeks back, we may picking up the crumbs of a real app here, even if productivity isn't the first thing that comes to mind when fondling that Retina Display.

This was on Macrumors hours ago..
@FireSokar
Hours, big whoop.
@phlux It's more of a crack on the Source and "more coverage" being incorrect. This information came from Mac Rumors I have no doubt of it as its the first site to report it.
@FireSokar Then maybe engadget discovered the story somewhere else, then realised it was on macrumors too, hence the "more coverage" link.
But who actually cares that much about where the info came from first, as long as it's legit ?
@FireSokar So Apple's phone is finally getting closer to what Nokia phones did years ago.
@Discourse
Nokia phones ran iworks years ago?
Oh, wait, you were pointing out another phone that can do something that the iphone can't? Then well done, sir! Nice job. Woo! zing!
@Discourse Yes. But it'll be fun now.
@Discourse Did very very poorly you mean all nokia is today is a phone manufacture who makes phone after phone after phone all shoddy and with some new gimmick that fails the last nokia that was good was the 3210 you sir fail

I wouldn't mind giving it a try. Just don't know the actual use of it other than viewing documents and stuff.
Id use it If only the iPad and iPhone had print...
@FireSokar Do you mean linking to a printer? HP has an app for printing. If iwork does come out on the iphone HP would be foolish not to update it for iwork file printing.
@shibbybypass Was looking for a SMB shared capability or or APN share, to me would be the best option.
Now, I'm wondering how well the new display fares with this. Can a higher pixel density do better than the larger screens with less pixels?
I just don't see the point? Who's doing any real document creation on a 3.5 inch screen with a soft keyboard? That would be like watching paint dry.
@minto001
My thoughts exactly. I was really hoping that Apple would have made the iPhone 4 at least 4+ inches. Oh well, at most I use my iPod Touch to send very short emails or make notes. iWorks though, is overkill.
@minto001
People have been doing it for years. Sometimes you just need to make a minor revision, add a note, update a couple numbers in a spreadsheet, etc. Obviously if you have an iPad or laptop with you that's a better choice but increasingly people are looking to leave that stuff behind and only carry a SmartPhone so it's a nice option to have. If you pair up a BT keyboard it's pretty viable to do some serious work on an iPhone.
@minto001 A valid point, but don't forget that iOs4 is now compatible with Bluetooth keyboards (like the iPad).
@minto001 yea it's annoying.. I download the Documents2Go app and it is possible to type easily, but there is no way in hell i'll be able to write more than a few paragraphs without getting annoyed.
@minto001 The ability to edit and create word docs and spreadsheets is one of the reasons I've used Windows Mobile for the past 7 years!
As UptownDonkey mentioned people use office suites on smartphones to make quick edits, have documents to hand for emailing when on the go, and carry fewer devices.
The onscreen keyboard may not be perfect for lengthy typing but the ability for iOS4 to pair a bluetooth keyboard, use the iPad keboard dock, and possibly (hopefully) connect to a monitor using the dock-to-vga cable could easily increase the productivity potential.
Yes for some notes will be more than enough for their needs, but for those who wish to work on existing documents or create formatted text and spreadsheets an office suite is required.
@minto001
Apple seems to be covering all the bases. Microsoft will be pushing their office docs with WP7, Google is likely doing the same with Google Docs for Android.
What about iLife and Photobooth since we have a front-facing camera on the iPhone 4 now. Sounds good. :]
While I was typing this comment I was like, " Oh yea, there's an app for that ".
I think?
Hmmm? I understand the 'why', and iWork in my iPad is pretty well-done, but I'll pass on any sort of 'document' creation on a 3.5 inch screen (regardless of the pixel density).
To Each Their Own...
I'm pissed I lost my iphone 4 today while @ mgm studios in orlando.
Got dammit.
Is there an app to get me another iphone for 199.99?
@FrankDTank
I'm going on vacation there next week. Thanks for the heads-up I'm leaving my iPhone 4 in the hotel the whole time now. Haha.
@FrankDTank really you lost it? Damn, I'm waiting for the one one to come out
@FrankDTank Why don't you just open up your "find my iPhone" app on ur pho...oh wait, that won't work ;). Sorry that u lost it though.
@FrankDTank
I work in MGM studios(Hollywood studios now), to bad I dont't like the Iphone.Android FTW
@FrankDTank Ouch man, Ouch! Sorry for ya, cheer up 'ol chap. I am sure another one will come by soon;..
As long as it will have iWord, iExcel and iPowerPoint XD
iWorks + 3.5 inch screen = Fail. How about improved notifications Apple?
@derekdevine
So true 3.5" screen is so 2007 haha, oriels on the Dell Streaks 5" screen now that's slick!
how about iDontCare ?
this isn't worthy of news - give me an ifart 0s 4.0 update josh
This is big business for Canadians, as they can just buy unlocked iPhones and sell them for $$$ in the US.
Steve Jobs: We want to sell unlocked iPhones in North America.
De la Vega: Remember, if you sell them unlocked in the USA, Mr. Jobs, your liver is mine.
Steve Jobs: ... okay, it will be just Canada, and online only, and we only ship to Canadians.
Apple should set up a dummy company reselling those unlocked iPhones in the US.
I'd be even more pissed if I'd bought an iPad now...
@dboobis
Yeah but you're probably the type of person who will be pissed at anything relating to the iPad right? Thought so.
@UptownDonkey I think he was actually referring to the fact that iWorks used to be an exclusive app for the iPad, and now it isn't, making getting/owning an iPad that little more pointless.
@UptownDonkey
What mr waffles said. Slowly but surely, every USP of the iPad is trickling down to the iPhone (and presumably iPod Touch 4), making the assertion that it is more than an oversized iPod less and less true. If the iPad was actually differentiated from other iDevices in any way at all bar size, I wouldn't mind so much. But now they share the same processor, the same resolution, and the same apps. The iPhone even surpasses it in some respects, for example double the RAM.
But when Microsoft does it, it's a GREAT idea.
*facepalm
@Wesscoast
It's ridiculous how others are already deeming this a fail, when no one's even seen the app.
*Facefist
It seems like Windows phon3 7 features are in a class above iOS
ha thats awesome just a while ago I asked mr.jobs about that!
EVERY SINGLE ANDROID PHONE IS THE RIP-OFF OF THE ORIGINAL IPHONE!!!! NEVER FORGET!!!
@kyphem Yes, because the dual microphone cancellation from Apple wasn't a rip off from the Google Nexus One? And the iPhone had multitasking waaaaaaaaaaaay before Android, amirite?
@mr waffles I am talking about the ORIGINAL IPHONE. After Android and co copied Apple design they had the right to copy the noise cancelation and all that.
@kyphem
Remember what the original Android looked like? A year after the iPhone came out when it was still a prototype? Now it looks more like an iPhone.

Does this mean every document editing program on iPhone will now have it's plug pulled?
@Smurf
No, but if you're ever caught using another editing app you will be shunned for all eternity.
iWork for iPhone.
The hell you do.
