Jaybird's SB2 Sportsband Bluetooth headset ain't afraid of no rainbow
Not wasting any time on trumping the original, are we Jaybird? Just a scant five months and change after introducing the eye-pleasing SB1 Sportsband Bluetooth headphones, along comes the SB2 for those who just like to live life on the vivacious side. In fact, the SB2 isn't all that different than the SB1 in terms of features, but if you're scouting a set with a little lot more flair, you'll find these available in nine fresh colors: Limonade Green, Sonic Blue, Orange Crush, Runner's Red, Toffee Apple Red, Midnight Black, Polar Blue, PowderPuff Pink and -- drum roll, please -- Snow White. You should know, however, that these also ship with apt-X onboard, which is said to "clean up" your jams while adding depth, bass and treble, and if your BT device has apt-X (or if you use an apt-X enabling BT adapter), these guys can kick it up a notch further with "CD quality output." Best of all, these are still priced at $99, making the toughest decision of all which hue to pick.

i'll take one of those sonic blue :)
@boxieblue
I'll go for SnowYellow, please.
@boxieblue Yes, the Sonic Blue one looks quite tasty.
@boxieblue I'd like them more if the band got thinner at the top. It looks too thick to not be dorky on someone's head.
i bought the Jaybird SB1 headphones about a month ago. immediately returned them. the pressure they put on my head after just 15 minutes was unbearable. Also, I have literally at least 10 other pairs of over-the-head headphones and don't have this problem with any of them. Read the reviews on amazon, a lot of people address this.
It's good to know that instead of fixing the problem, they came out with multiple colors instead.
"ain't afraid of no rainbow?" Double negative. So now you are saying that it /is/ afraid of rainbows. Unless, of course, that's what you meant.
@kongking it's called a colloquialism, get with the times dude
These guys spammed my gmail account - twice - yesterday. How on Earth they got my email address, I'll never know, but it was the first spam I have ever received that was for something interesting. Either way, I would have preferred to learn about them via the news media and blogs than spam. I have unsubscribed to their emailing list. Which begs the question, who sold my email address, which isn't public? Google? I doubt it. A friend? An interesting debate!
I'm guessing apple products dont have apt-x? :(
@mark29 The new mac mini supports apt-X
Are they noise cancelling?
Nice, but I liked the original better, they were more classy. These are a little blingy.
Not sure about the design, looks like some sort of hair band a school girl would wear.
Did someone say they doubt Google sold their email address ?
You do know how Google makes money ? :)
i have the original (black) and i use them with my EVO. Got annoyed with taking my phone out of my pocket to change songs, I use them all day at work 9hrs. havent had 1 problem with them and the signal is strong from 30 feet away. i was afraid they would annoy me or be to big on my head but neither has been a problem. the mic for calls could be a little better but i dont use them for talking much outside anyway, indoors talking isnt a problem.
Orange Crush, please
It's not the same but I currently have a set of JayBird Endorphin Rush headphones and they're great. They're the first set of headphones I've had that really stay in place when running and don't annoy me.
I thought everyone hated people with bluetooth headsets?
@Xylias
Nope, most people like em'.
@Xylias Yeah, I was under the impression that they degraded sound quality too much to be useful. These look pretty neat, though...
@Ryoshi
APT-X solves that.
@Ryoshi
I've been using a sony pair with my iPod for about a year now and they sound brilliant.
Wow! Were these custom made for the Greenwich Village crowd?
Finally hitting the "CD quality" mark with bluetooth audio? Maybe I'll have to look into it again...MAYBE
Is the band on those metal? Is that actually comfortable when running? They look too big and I don't think they'd play nicely with my hat...and the hat isn't going anywhere.
@gfar I think the Engadget description is a bit misleading. If your device doesn't support the apt-X codec, then you have to default to whatever the default is for A2DP. This means that you won't experience any sound improvement over the standard codec, since it cannot use it.
Therefore until apt-X finds its way into more devices, I don't think it's worth it so far. This is what put me off waiting for the Jaybird BlueBuds. Instead I bought a £17 pair of Sennheiser PX200s -- worth every penny.
These look like headbands for little girls. Enjoy the sounds, Nancy boy. Especially when you pair them with fruity colors.
I'd like Toffee Apple Red -- so how many devices is going to support apt-X?
I own a pair of the all black, these headphones are amazing the bass just blows me away. It is worth the price
you can get one of these to show your pride!
Do these come with an optional large sign that says "Mug me I am an idiot with too much money and no taste" ?
Are these adjustable or no?
They look small.
@DoctarPeppar
If they're like Promate's ProHarmony.1, then they should be
looks a lot like me Promote ProHarmony.1
http://www.promate.net/product_details.aspx?Product_ID=228
no?
The ProHarmony.1 has a good build and the bluetooth features work great
I'd love to get the Midnight Black one tho
what's wrong with making a decent set of BT headphones that look like normal headphones. if you wear these you will look like a cretin. fact.
I'm aware this is a stupid question, but will these work for audio on an iPhone (iPhone 4, if it matters)? I thought the old iPhones didn't allow for bluetooth for iPod playback, but if I'm wrong I might pick these up.
@Ryoshi Yes they will work but I dont think the new iphone supports apt-x
So when are they gonna issue a recall???
It's even better because it's in different colours. Nice! You could get a pair that's colour co-ordinated with your iPod :D
I'll take all of them
I'd love Bluetooth wireless headphones, but unless you're only using them for music, they are worthless for video watching because of the latency/lag/delay bluetooth audio delivers. Does anybody know if this apt-X codec reduce or eliminate this audio latency delay?
@Diversion I have a pair of these and when watching video on iPhone with the apt-X dongle everything looks sweet. Without the dongle and re-pairing in normal Bluetooth there is lip-sync issues, so I presume there is a latency benefit with apt-X...!
