Apple PR says recent Steve Jobs emails are fake
If you've been anywhere near the internet in the past few hours, you've undoubtedly heard about a Steve Jobs email conversation in which he told an angry iPhone customer to "calm down" and that the iPhone 4 was "just a phone." That email chain, which was published on Boy Genius Report earlier, was also reportedly shopped to AppleInsider a few days ago -- for a price. Well, now Fortune is reporting that they've been told by a "a top Apple spokesman" that the emails are fake, and the exchange never happened. Of course, emails are notoriously easy to fake, and Apple has not been in the habit of commenting on its CEO's online wanderings, so our ears pricked up when we saw this article. We've reached out to Apple and they have independently confirmed to us that the conversation is indeed a hoax. So as usual, take all of these Jobs-uncensored dialogues with a healthy grain of salt.

Apple=S.Jobs=F'in Liars.
Those are fake, but not his "Hold Different" email.
how do you say bullshit those emails are real
how do you say bullshit those emails are real . up to know they he is fantastic he talks too us customers and now the shit hit the fan they say there fake
Steve : sign your emails with a GPG digital signature, keep your passphrase secret and don't let your PC sign for you.
Simples.
@Aubrey in the uk you dont have that bullshit 1 you can take back in 7 days and cancel the lot contract included. and 2 if you can not use use your phone i.e like iphone 4 problems you get a new phone and if its a general problem with that model you can have different phone to same vaule or above and you dont pay a thing
next apple are going to say the iphone 4 is fake because there stuff does not have any problem because there magical
i find it totally amusing thyat apple didn't come out and rubbish these claims as soon as they hit , A week later they decide to tell everyone they fake.
I smell summat .. and it aint fresh
Apple have finally realised that those 1 line emails have had a real backlash and PR are now in top backpedal gear
Apple is bullshitting to escape bad PR - nothing new there!!! Apple leak stuff to the media - also a fake? Anything Apples says or does is a fake too?
Sure they'll fix the phone in an updated version 4.2 to be released before Christmas and everyone will have forgotten about the bloopers.
But not being able to use the phone normally will go down in History!!!! (Forever)
IF YOU GO TO THE ACTUAL WEBSITE THERE ARE A TON OF PICTURES SHOWING THE EMAIL TRAIL AND THE RAW MIME DATA OF THE EMAILS. THIS IS NOT FAKE.
@Fiorano430
Why? Because none of that can be faked? Are you naive?
My iPhone 4 works perfectly, no reception issues at all. I imagine this is the case for the majority of iPhone 4 users so why so much fuss over a few malcontents? Why don't they just go and buy a Blackberry or something and stop whingeing?
@S Ellerington Because you don't have the problem, "you imagine" it only affects a small amount of the population?
@DCIFRTHS well I there doesn't seem to an issue here in the UK. It seems a small number of whingeing American's have a problem and they like to make a big noise about it. If I bought a product and it didn't work I'd return it for a refund and buy an alternative. Why the song and dance?
@S Ellerington It's good that someone who represents all of the UK actually has the time to respond to my post. Good job mate!
@S Ellerington Ahmmm. My 3G is almost two years old. I don't think I'm eligible for a refund. I did purchase the extended warranty through Apple, but, according to Apple Care, they will not exchange my phone, or provide an official downgrade to ver 3.x because ver 4 was optional.
All I want is go back to my old OS, and I will be VERY happy again. I don't think that's an unreasonable request.
This is just a cover up.
It really was Steve, granted he was up all night drinking alone and depressed when he wrote the emails.
I'm wondering when Engadget is going to do some real reporting, if they are capable of it, and post some info on all the 3G users who have had their phones crippled by iOS4?

@DCIFRTHS my iPhone 3G worked fine after updating to iOS4. Its now for sale if you are interested?
@S Ellerington If I was a "stranger to sarcasm" I might have been interested.
My phone is plagued by slowdowns, a few crashing apps, slow animations, and a keyboard that can't keep up with my typing because the spellchecker overwhelms the CPU. I was very happy before the OS update. In fact, it was my favorite toy.
Keep enjoying yours!
@DCIFRTHS WELCOME TO THE NEW MICROSOFT. I SO LOVE THIS
hey schmeeeve, where r u now when the public needs you most to answer these antenna issues????
"if you can't hold the phone your own way, they blew it."
@DCIFRTHS
So, why are you stirring up shit in a iPhone 4 chain with complains on a 3G?
Also, you can downgrade, see this post from lifehacker:
http://lifehacker.com/5572003/how-to-downgrade-your-iphone-3g%5Bs%5D-from-ios-4-to-ios-313
Then, just stick with that until a new iOS4 revision comes out to try 4 again.
Its just a PR release, relax, its not worth it
What a cover up! Email hoax, that a good one.
and I suppose the official press releases are also fake right?
What I meant was .... (looks at the PR teleprompter)
I still think that email of "your holding it wrong" is a true one. Notice how they didn't tell us anything about that email jobs sent .
Oh, Apple said it's a fake. Obviously it is a fake then. Now I can go back to my oblivious life feeling that all is right with the world. Bahhhhh
Honestly, the people pissing on and on and on about this issue the most don't even OWN iPhones. It's kind of sad. Hating on an apple product is so cool these days, I swear. Just buy the product that works for you and move the **** on....
Does the device have an antenna issue? Yep. The user can either take steps to mitigate the issue or not.
Sorry folks but whining on the internet won't fit it. Either toss a case on it, rubber band, or any non-conductive material like clear nail polish and move on.
OR: Return the phone and get something that works to your satisfaction! The Evo comes to mind. Or the Droid X. Both great phones that you can make calls with.
I guess the emails from corporate Apple to the Apple stores about the reception issues were a hoax too...Then again 'It's just a phone."
@Toshiba
Why would one lead to the other? Is jumping to conclusions normal scientific method for you?
@Toshiba
It's only "just a phone" when it has issues. Before the issues are uncovered, it's a magical, revolutionary device that will change your life and make all of your peers think you are hip and cool.
@Jack No...THUS THE "I GUESS". Is not reading things thoroughly, before opening your pie hole "normal scientific method" for you?
I call BS on that...the email headers were intact.
PR is nothing but a bunch of spin doctors.
Why didn`y HE deny it himself.
A court ordered audit of thir servers is in order !
Well Jobs real email is still a lame response to the iPhone 4 issue
When Steve the holiness said the right thing, it's truth.
When Steve the holiness said the wrong thing, it's fake.
Lovely PR.
It doesn't really matter if it works or not. The iPhone is really a status symbol at this point. I've asked about a dozen or so people that have gotten or plan to get an iphone why they picked that phone, and all I hear are answers like "it's pretty" or "it's cool" Not a single person I have talked to has a compelling technical reason for wanting one.
The iPhone 4: 30% more shiny!
