Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"We need a digital camera that can be switched on and fire off that first shot fast. It's not a commonly tracked statistic on any review site, and nobody seems to have this information for every camera. We were hoping other readers could inform us as to what small digital cameras can fire off their first pics in under a second (ideally under half a second). It needs to be small, but mostly, just really quick in operation. Thanks!"
Win!
I wonder if the Colbert "Wrist Strong" bracelet will work. I'm sure he'll cover it on his show, since he's such a huge Apple fan.
@MGore32
No volume buttons? No toggle?
@MGore32
It needs more holes for the headphone jack and secondary mic.
Weird, no one noticed that..
@MGore32
if you need a dollar-store rubber to make it usable, you are doing it wrong.
@JFH
its called scissors.
@MGore32
genius fix for a (once) genius device
@MGore32
usually in phones, the band comes into picture when the phones back cover becomes loose due to over usage over the years.
a brand new phone compared to the leica camera and looks from the digital future as per Josh, wrapped in some ugly ass rubber band is hardly a win
it is called SUCK UP ~
@MGore32
Its called rubber. If you want those buttons to come through, the band will probably snap. Its not practical at all.
Seriously, something like this SHOULDN'T be newsworthy. But Apple has forced us in to a corner, such that a $1 rubber band is amazing.
@kingofwale
I think what you meant to say was "you blew it."
@doug
I've heard that holding your phone left-handed is a feature.
You will transform your iPhone 4 to the iPod Touch within seconds.
Innovation, and 'Revolutionary'.
THE BUMPER WILL DISABLE THIS FEATURE.
@Revolutionary
It's so nice to be able to make a call on my Evo in either hand, especially without some POS rubber band wrapped around it...
@Wjackson25
Evo has been classified revolutionary by Revolutionary.
@MGore32 : Not sure if I would keep any brand new device if it had a serious defect. That would be disrespectful to my wallet (and you never disrespect the wallet).
@kingofwale That's what she said
@JFH
definitely not practical, but clever enough to keep your $29 instead of buying apple's version. At least until someone else makes something cheaper. And I'm thinking you can still press the buttons on the side (thru the rubber band) without cutting more holes.
@MGore32 if you don't like the bumper, here is another viable solution to the problem, this way you can't "hold it wrong"...

@Revolutionary
NICE!
@MGore32 - or win, win below!

And I'm sure they are hard at work on an iP4 version which will probably look and fit better since the back is not rounded. 1 stone for to big azz birds...
@MGore32 Try Fail
@Frankenstein Black - More...

@okok only Apple Fanboys bought i
My wife and both have iPhone 4s and neither have a problem when using it without a case, I watched all the YouTube videos on how to make the antenna issue happen, I did finally make it happen after licking my fingers and giving the phone a death grip in the right places, neither do I do when using a phone, Rants from Apple like you don't influence anybody but yourself and other Apple haters.
@MGore32
Apple's followers are already revolting, IMO
@MGore32
If you need a DIY rubber band. They blew it
@MGore32
Maybe you could re-purpose your old hands free device?
http://shannon-g.net/fun/multimedia/images/redneck/handsfree.jpg
@kingofwale Well, one out of two's a start.
This will be great for Livestrong, (the Tour de France starts this weekend) and it'll help show some unity among all the iPhone 4 owners that are not only having difficulties with their phone, but are pissed off at Apple's arrogance.
Live Strong, iPhone 4.
@Mikeserena
At least someone has some common sense. It won't matter though. The haters will hate and claim anyone who says otherwise is a "fanboy."
I can replicate the "issue" on my iPhone 4 if I try to but have yet to experience any actual problems when USING the phone like a human being. Yes, even in my left hand... I know... crazy.
@MGore32 all phones have this problem, tho there is no problem with the iPhone4. You could hold the phone differently. and, remember, it has a very good speaker phone, just keep it on the table. Stop using this amazing, incredible, life changing piece of technology as a phone; it is so much more.
@MGore32
The bands in the picture actually look nice. But what I dont get is this - iPhone4 uses smugly claim that their phone is the "thinnest" on the market, yet with this all these mandatory bumpers and geegaws on their phones it probably makes it fatter than the rest of the "oh-so-fat" phones...heck after sometime it might start looking more obese than the N900 (with 10% of the capability)! ;-)
@okok only Apple Fanboys bought i
Lol don't tell me other phones didn't have problems... It's just a phone. My incrediable had plastic separating from the screen out of the box, reception issues vs my coworkers droid, and touch screen unresponsiveness...
My iPhone 4 feels less gimped than my HTC did... HTC cannot be compared in built quality against Apple there is no way. Nokia yes but not HTC and only older and more expensive Nokias.
@MGore32
Leak shows Apple's spin on iPhone 4 flaws
http://www.cnn.com/2010/TECH/mobile/06/30/leaked.apple.docs.mashable/index.html
@JFH That was an early version in the pic. Oliver actually did cut holes for the switch and buttons. His second try was much neater.
@MGore32
Win? As in Apple is such a fucking fail everything thing else just wins? I hope so. Cause having to use a emo wrist band is just too fucking delicious for me to handle this morning.
@Revolutionary Brilliant. I am tweeting this.
@ack154 I think they have a right to call you a fanboy when you go around saying people having the problem aren't using their phones like "human beings". Lol, the f*ck are they then? Aliens?
@kingofwale

@okok only Apple Fanboys bought i , exactly, you should not have to McGyver a damn phone. Apple needs to recall the iPhone 4, I have a hard time believing most iPhone 4 owners are ok working around a serious defect. At least engadget makes it seem that way.
@okok only Apple Fanboys bought i
If the recalled the phone what would be left to sue over? What exactly is there to sue over? If you have a problem with your phone return it and get a different model.
@scorpeo
Apple won't recall it, they know they don't have to. Their fans will keep it, no matter if it's proven to melt brain matter. STEVE SAID IT'S GOOD SO IT IS GOOD.
@MGore32 : Use a rubber band and a hole puncher to make one. :)
@MGore32
LIVERIGHTHANDED
@Revolutionary: Your wish is granted. http://gizmodo.com/5577010/first-iphone-4-class-action-suit-filed-against-apple-and-att
Do you understand the difference between 'every iPhone 4 is defective' and 'a percentage of iPhone 4s are defective'?
Typing this on one that has had zero reception or screen issues.
@okok only Apple Fanboys bought i
Then so should HTC for having screens that come apart, or when the N1 had 3G and WiFi issues. You people are getting ridiculous, companies have problems and Apple is the first company to have handset problems. Android phones have had there fair share of problems that are just as bad as what Apple is having right now.
@Outsider It's not just amazing ... Its " magical "
""apple should be recalling the phone and be receiving a class action lawsuit.""
like this one? http://gizmodo.com/5577010/

@MGore32
yay now your iphone not only does apps but supports the american cancer society even though it would rather wreak havoc on the world
@okok only Apple Fanboys bought i
Amen to that man! I cannot believe the gull they had to even release such a costly product, with a known issue like this. It is absolutely insane... What is worse is that the dummy consumers are still lapping up the rotten milk Mr. Jobs has left out for them!
