EyePhone reference mysteriously disappears from online clips of Futurama

Remember how awesome and clever Futurama was the other night? Well, if you missed it, your chances to see it in its original form might be slowly dwindling. It seems that Comedy Central has wiped out the reference in the dialogue to the "EyePhone 2.0." So, while we don't have any conspiracy theories brewing about what happened, it's a pretty odd thing to scrub, and we figure there are two possibilities: either Comedy Central is trying to cover their <censored> on this one, or they got a late night email from... someone. Thankfully, nothing disappears on the internet, so you can check out both clips and see for yourself after the break.

Geez, everyone needs to lighten up.

Futurama hit is on the nose. Apple makes a great, but not the best, product. Apple is successful cause they attract the non-geek crowd, basically the rest of the general popular-population, e.g. normal folks. Hence they will get the wacko-consumer-religious fans that like their product, cause they don't know anything else: *the zombies*. They are out there. Those guys never get into the geek world since it's not mainstream and never will. Apple just needs to deal with it in a positive way; MS did, Nintendo did, Commodore did, Atari did, Sony did. Heck all the movie studios do it well. But obviously they can't cause they are filled with a bunch of super smart people when it comes down to it. It really is a walled garden.

It's in the version you can buy on Zune too.

I think it's just a mistake. That Comedy Central asked for clips to use online and at the last minute they added the voice over to the aired show but forgot about the online clips they had already loaded to those servers.

No conspiricy is my bet.

Does anyone ever read previous comments? EyePhone is a Trademark of VPL Research Inc. for their stereo-optic, head mounted display system. They were making fun of a real trademarked product thinking it didn't exist. NO CONSPIRACY.

@moco No, they were not making fun of that trademarked product. Its clear even to a blind man who they were making fun of, regardless of unknowingly using a protected product name.

In other countries, with less ridiculous laws to protect trademarks, they would probably not have removed it. Take germany for example. You can make fun of any public person as long as you dont insult, spread lies or denounce said person - theres nothing that can be done to stop it. No lawsuit, no nothing. Same goes for products, obviously, even if a third party claims trademark, as long as it is clear who the target of the parody is.

But since this is happening in the US, where dumb people can sue companies for not educating their customers that hot coffee is hot, anything is possible and you better cover your ass before its too late.

I watched that episode 4 times on the TV saved it and converted it to iPhone and watched it again then passed it around at work. Best episode yet. And Apple censors it? Are you serious Steve? I thought there was legal rights for comedians and all that? Wow. Android you just got a convert.

Where is the lawsuit against Apple for bashing "PCs" with blatant bullcrap? It just works, you plug it in and no worries? All you have to do is go to any mac troubleshooting forum and it's filled with problems... why they keep on pushing lies is just as bad as intel when it was pushing the mhz myth.
