Im not sure mediocre is the right way to put it, you have to remember that it competes with the best, any way you look at it it is one of the best phones in the world and the only thing that separates it from the top android phones is user preference.
It's a shame, but if you buy from Apple, you're basically supporting a company that is much more of a dick than even the normal dicks. I mean, kicking down your door with gestapo dick.
Ah Apple. That's why you see little Apple stickers on the back of Priuses. Dicks like to be pious.
@forx I don't think it was apple, because the episode they sell on itunes isnt censored. More than likely some bigwig at comedy central found out and got scarred.
@forx And true multitasking. And Flash. And an open marketplace. And standardized USB ports. And SD cards. And units I can hold in both hands. So yeah, just a few user preferences.
@CaptainFabulous Wow, thats a pretty impressive list of features that 90% of people don't need. Don't get me wrong, I would love all of those things to be in the iPhone...but the fact that it's outselling all of the android devices put together sort of proves my point that it is ONE of the best phones you can buy. I don't even prefer it over a device like the Evo...I just think some people should accept that other people may have a different preference.
True multitasking just kills the battery, flash video on Android is currently a joke, standardized USB ports would be nice, and SD card slots still have limits, they're slower, and you have to pay extra.
If the iPhone was on Verizon it would be damn near perfect if you ask me.
My iPhone 3GS's battery worked great with backgrounder so I don't see how that kills the battery. Flash videos work great on Android ( http://www.engadget.com/2010/05/23/flash-10-1-on-froyo-goes-tete-a-tete-with-flash-lite-4-on-eclai/ ) but the ads are what slow up the browser. Thus, there is an option to make Flash a clickable element to turn it on. Not sure where you're getting your information... and SD cards do have their limits but they're upgradeable and cheaper than the $100 Apple tax for a bigger flash drive.
SD Cards are slower, yes, but not enough to make a difference. You can use doubleTwist and move music back and forth rather easily, just like iTunes except also two-way not just one. Oh and you can also use your phone as a USB thumb drive -- what a concept!
Flash on Android is not a joke, obviously you are going on your FUD rumors rather than actual experience. I just opened up Newgrounds.com and played through 4 various flash movies without a hiccup AND they looked great on my 4.3" screen.
The Evo comes with a 8GB SD card. Even if an Android phone did not, they are dirt cheap, class 10 microSD are going for $15 for 8GB. That's half the price of your new fandangled "bumpers".
Know what's also nice? Being able to do what you want with your phone for once. Also, the apps on the Android market place are usually cheaper/free compared to the counterparts on Apple's so that means spending LESS.

the iPhone is great and everything, but Apple really need to lighten up.
@forx Actually, the iPhone is mediocre and past its prime, but Apple still needs to lighten up.

@Bosco Shhh, you aren't allowed to take a stab at Apple without first praising one of their products. Where are your manners?

@forx It is 1 of the best app launchers in the world, doesn't work very well as a phone now does it
@Dustin F
So THAT's why those Apple "dicks" keep running into my Impala with their priuses! And here I thought it was because of the faulty brake thing!
