Flash 10.1 ported to iPad, burninates the countryside (video)

Update: It appears Comex has indeed been working on this project for some time; a second blurry video after the break (running on iPhone) shows us what it used to look like.

Apple iPhone 4S
Apple iPad 3rd-gen
A look back on popular stories from today in a specific year.

Now that we've thrown 'em off the trail, use the form below to get in touch with the people at Engadget. Please fill in all of the required fields because they're required.
@pintonion
Apple will never put Flash on these devices, but in a couple of years it will be a non-issue because the entire web will have moved past Flash, and we will have Apple to thank for that.
@starxd Uninstall FLash and let me know how that goes for you
@pintonion
I said "in a couple of years" dumbass.
@starxd emmm, Steve says now, iPad hasn't got it. why not be a good boy and lead the way in changing the world for better?
How many more ports of Flash onto the iPad until were all satisfied?
More proof that Flash runs fine on an iPad - Apple just doesn't want it on there, for some reason.
@Nilithius
Duh. No one ever said it couldn't run on an iPad.
@starxd
I didn't say it couldn't run on the iPad, either. I said that it runs fine - that is, it has good performance. One of the reasons Apple is so reluctant to put it on their products is, according to them, poor performance, which isn't the case here.
Duh.
@Nilithius
@Nilithius
Apple never said Flash didn't run well on the iPad, they said it sucks in general. And one lame video from a lame hacker is hardly proof otherwise.
@starxd Steve jobs said that flash drains battery, does not support hardware acceleration on phones, and FUCKING CRASHES ALL THE TIME. and that's why he doesn't want it on his devices.
TROGDOORRRRRRRR!!!
Comex is brilliant hacker. Don't miss Flash myself, but maybe some of the whiners will shut their pieholes now. I'll be sure to try it with the 10 watt recharging cable handy.
@Shock Me
The only people who are whining about no Flash on the iPad are people who are too broke to afford an iPad. Actual iPad owners don't give a shit about Flash - obviously, because if they did they wouldn't have bought it in the first place.
The iPad is one of the most successful consumer product launches in the history of the world so obviously the lack of Flash is a non-issue to many consumers, including me. I couldn't care less whether Flash comes to the iPad or not. I'm perfectly happy without Flash. I don't miss it at all, ever. What's the big deal???
@starxd I have one and the big deal is there are way too many sites that I can't get the full exp from bcuz it doesn't have flash. That's a big fkn deal. It doesn't have a front cam, it's the only slate that will be released this yr that isn't HD, no front cam, and no micro SD slot. I love the thing but it will be on ebay when a slate with these things comes out L8r this yr. ( one - 5 different ones will) all my computers are macs and I just traded my iPhone in for a EVO. I am tired of sayn that it's ok that my mac mini never had HDMI when all other computers of worth did. I will always have MAC computers but I'm done with the apple secondary products such as the iPad and iPhone. They just have too many restrictions.
@starxd Maybe most don't realize it doesn't handle flash since they were promised a device that gave them "full access" to the web. And though its true that most people who frequent sites like Engadget know of the lack of flash, most people would assume it would word (My mom has no idea what flash is, or what sites use it, but that doesn't mean she doesn't "use" flash).
I will be jailbreaking any iOS device I own to install this port. Having no Flash on a smartphone is annoying. Having no Flash on the iPad is down right frustratingly stupid.
Where do I sign up?
@ddddd
I think you means "ads", and you have to pay with ads in every version of Hulu, so what the hell are you talking about??
we still on the dead ass subject!
Please people move on.
Dang man! In a year there will literally be thousands and thousands of richly created ads using HTML5. Ipad will win. get over it.
It is a product that delivers what it said it would and the consumers(maybe not YOU) are eating it up.
IT FREAKING WORKS!!!!!!!!
I can't wait until next year when ipad 2 drops. OMFG!!!!!!
I'm buying an iPad Tuesday, because it really is a nice piece, although I wouldn't even consider it if jailbreaking was never invented.
@ddddd
You're an idiot.
Hey Steve! Video games also drain battery life! Take them away too!
is this going to be on an iPod Touch or just the iPhone and iPad
@Tech Dude if it will then it will probably be only 4gen.
The Horror , The Horror!!!
Dear Flash,
Bugger off...
Signed,
World
@Wesscoast you bugger off to the planet you are representing.
Most of the websites I go to on my iPad videos work fine but I still woudnt say no to this hurry up and release
Anyone familiar with a firefox add-on called "flashblock"?...why can't Apple just implement that kind of application to their OS? That way it gives people an option to play the flash if they really want to. So it'll be "at your own risk" basis.
Maybe someone could download "CloudBrowse" and see if it works on the iPad. It is free, in the app store, and plays flash video on my iPhone 4 without jailbreaking or "porting" which makes this article seem like a bunch of effort to accomplish something that doesn't take anymore effort than downloading an app.
I don't want it to be on iPad. It is a waste of developer resources, iPad will die and Flash will still live on.
@Atro lol ^^
@ddddd
You're an idiot, the hulu app on ipad will be free, only the plus content will you have to pay for, otherwise the current hulu model of releasing like the last three episodes of a show will continue to be free. Sorry kid, play again when you can read.
Homestar Runner? You seriously had to use that to test it?
Has anyone thought of trying to use iOS 4's bluetooth keyboard connection to control the games?
Don't you reckon iPhone would be a much better device if it has Flash installed, but allowing users to switch it on or off? Perhaps, the player could be switched off by default. In some situations, where there are no alternative contents, people can switch it on to see Flash contents. For those users who don't like Flash contents, because the player is switched off by default, they wouldn't be affected. Another suggestion is that it could be offered as an installable plugin (not installed by default) - so for those who don't ever want Flash on their iOS devices, they can stay away from it.
I agree previous versions of flash players might not be efficient enough for mobile devices. However, the latest flash player is optimised for them. Therefore, I guess it should run fine if it's optionally installed / switched on. Perhaps Apple should reconsider their stance, if they agree that people should be allowed to choose what they want. If Apple thinks otherwise, it means that they think we are not smart enough to think for ourselves (so we cannot demand more than what they give us). Sigh, maybe that's why they think we're not smart enough to figure out that iOS4 antenna problem is probably not just a software problem. And that 3rd party developers have no rights to choose their development platform (except large game development companies, who can port their stuff using anything they want, as Apple's enforcement of ToS is arbitrary). Sigh, I guess they can do this only because their competitors are relatively weak at the moment.
"check out all it's majesty." -s. bad
@ddddd
You pre-teens kill me! That was so hilarious.
although they don't fall under the category of 'standard sites'...
supposedly no-one with an iPad has attempted the unthinkable and browse any of the billion free porn sites out on the interwebs — they are predominantly in flash video format. not sure if we can expect a quicktime conversion anytime soon for those poor IOS users.
