Motorola Charm spotted in T-Mobile ad, free on contract for back-to-schoolers?
Advertising a product before it's even official, what could be more patriotic? TmoNews has a convincing (but still unconfirmed) picture of a T-Mobile "Back to School" poster featuring Samsung :), Gravity T, Gravity 3, and... Motorola Charm? Looks like our chubby, Motoblur-equipped candybar has been given an air of legitimacy, even more than the previous leak. What's also interesting is the price -- as part of the promotion, Charm is apparently free on contract (seems to be T-Mo's special of choice, these days). Can't say with any certainty what that means for the cost of the phone after this season's school craze dies down -- the Gravity 3, for example, is usually $80 with a two-year agreement -- but it can't be much longer now before we get the skinny on this square. Hit up the source for full picture.

Back to School? July just started!
@Younes
Probably leaked about a month early. Leaks make me happy, both the info type and urination type. Sorry, celebrating the 4th with a bit of alcohol.
@ Younes Speaking of back to school, it looks just like the fat smelly kit at the back of the class, fitting really.
How about instead of giving school kids free phones, we ban them in school so they, you know, learn something. Most of our kids are stupid, and this is why.
@flarkle
Haha, that's exactly what I thought when I read the ad too.
"Head back to school with the latest messaging phones"
That sounds like a great idea.
@flarkle Technology in general actually.
Most schools don't allow phone or any electronic devices on school grounds. Besides, the parents are the ones buying these kids these things, so they must not be concerned about that.
@flarkle Sure, blame technology. Who's supposed to teach stuff to children anyway? The teachers. Where are they then if the kids are focused on their cellphones?

why is the pass ill?
I think the Charm will sell in good numbers. I'm not sure if T-mobile will charge a 30 dollar data plan like VZ & ATT, but if they don't, it has the formula to sell huge.
It's unique, it's seemingly progressive, and it's something that could easily be marketed. If I were a parent, I'd buy my kid that and before I could tell them to be happy, they'd be thanking me.
@whitesoxing It really is a good phone. I'm more of a high-end smartphone user, but majority of teens/tweens are not. This is perfect for them. Maybe it will be better with no $30 data charge, but T-Mobile is already really cheap, so who knows.
@whitesoxing
It will, of course, require the $30 web.
Get some more info Engadget we all knew it was coming soon or later...
You know we back to schoolers have to text omg lol bff
@Peter Pan i think it read to many apple posts :P
when will t-mo bring out something that compares to the droid x/ evo.
the nexus one is 6 months old
@audi2009 HTC Vision by the end of the year (?)
But the Samsung Vibrate will be out this summer, pretty good phone.
@EggoEspada
Samsung Vibrant
@EggoEspada ill wait till the end of the year too see if a dual core android comes out.
not going with the galaxy s
@audi2009 The "old" Nexus one can still outperform even the Evo. Plus, none of those Android wannabees have 2.2. The Nexus One is the only true Android phone.
@EggoEspada
"But the Samsung Vibrate will be out this summer, pretty good phone."
That's what she said.
Where are our articles, Engadget? We paid you good money for this.
Samsung, why name a phone :) its not even a word. Its just
Actually, the Gravity 3 is $49.99 after a $50 mail-in rebate.
It's a pretty cool phone. Ill make a YouTube video soon.
Oh YAY! Another sub par piece of crap Android phone for Tmo! When in the name of all that is Holy are they going to get a freakin' powerhouse!? I had to settle on the cliq. They don't have a single Android phone with a 1ghz processor. JEEZE!!!
@Androyalty
Wait, of all the Android phones on T-Mobile you went with the Cliq? Not the Nexus One? Not the MyTouch 3G Slide? Couldn't hold out for the Samsung Vibrant? You have chosen horribly.
Little off topic, but does anyone else think of BlackBerry when they see the TmoNews logo.?
@okok only Apple Fanboys bought i
Reminds me of a Kin wannabe.
I actually like the different form factor and the blur skin on android ... I LOVE my moto cliq other than the fact no apps work with android 1.5. I might think about getting the new motorola if it has 2.1 on it.
Is this a blackberry cousin? but with android?
I think ill take it.
T-Mobile is killin' AT&T with their no contract prices. I could get 5 lines with unlimited data, email and text for less than $25 per line.
$135 on 1500 minutes with the offer of 12% off! OR About~$24.50 plus taxes per line.
It' a good phone
