Rude Gameware's Fierce Teflon & Steel mousepad can take the heat
Rude Gameware new's Fierce Teflon & Steel Mouse Surface may not have a built-in calculator or USB hub, but it is made of Teflon and steel, which makes it a multipurpose mousepad in its own special way. Still can't justify spending $30 on a mousepad? The next best alternative is as close as your kitchen cupboard.

That's pretty.. hot
@Redyz
I've always used random stuff as a mousepad (free calendars, books etc..)
Does having a real mouse-pad really makes a difference ?
especially one that resists to heat..
@jayjaync
heh same, cheap plastic cutting board here..
@Redyz
I just got a new grill today, looks like I need to go out and buy this thing too now..
@jayjaync: A purpose-built mousepad does make a difference in mousing accuracy - especially if you're not using a laser mouse - but I'm not sure what the point of having a "rugged" one is. What are people doing with their mousepads that it needs to be so tough? Isn't it just sitting in on your desk for years on end?
Well, I suppose the Teflon surface would make the mouse slide around more easily, thereby reducing fatigue, but I'm not sure if that's worth $30. I guess it might make sense for a gamer looking to squeeze out that extra little bit of mousing speed for more frags.
@Redyz
Now that's what I call multitasking, done right.
@jayjaync using a sheet of paper lol. I wish my mouse could track glass :(
@jayjaync
As a gamer (I was a semi-pro gamer at one stage), I can assure you that a mouse mat makes all the difference. You can have the best mouse in the world, but if you mat grips, has bumps, etc, you might as well give up. I run a Razor eXactmat myself. Aluminium core with plastic surface and it really does help.
Teflon would help a lot IMO, as I'm always having to clean my current mat with iso wipes or, on bad days, with a knife (sweat, skin, ciggie ash, all add up to bumps and dead spots).
@sortius & tonicboy
Oh I see, thanx, never been a gamer myself so I guess that's why I don't really care =)
@jayjaync
Once upon a time, mice used a hard rubber ball with encoder wheels to track movement. Mouse pads are a holdout from that period. Todays laser mice twill track on anything... a mousepad isn't really needed anymore.
@sortius as a gamer myself i cant stand plastic mousepads. the sound of the mouse sliding around on it and all? just makes me kinda lonly really lol.
i got a nice fabric pad really old, with a gel wrist rest on it. i like it. its wearing out thouse so i need a replacement. no plastic though,
Tell me... how the hell did they manage to grill those "stripes" on the burgers if placed on the perfectly-flat pad? o_O
@bebop There's only a handful of mice that can track on glass though. Which is my problem
@Redyz
Hopefully the macbook is made of this stuff or ...fzzzz.
wtf?
OMGWTFBBQ
@higherdestiny
Omgwtfgrill actually. But close enough to UPRANK
@DefPoet we call it a BBQ here in Australia... a grill is in an oven.
@sortius same in NZ ^^
@DefPoet aaand canada :P
@DefPoet
And even in America, many people colloquially refer to grilled food as barbecue.
Ever been to a "barbecue"? 9 times out of 10, they're grilling up burgers and hot dogs and other things.
Actually it can't take the head. It's warping in the middle.
@Happy That's what she said.
@Happy
haha, has to be the funniest typo I've seen in a while..
@Eli Haj I didn't even notice my mistake lol. Having a migrain will do that I guess.
@Happy
Best unintentional "That's what she said.".
i want
Atleast it looks like it's warping in the middle.
Guys, don't cheap out on your mouse pad.
I spent £20 on my Steelseries and I'm not even a PC gamer. I use my computer daily for work and after 2 years the pad still glides smooth as silk.
One of those things that you forget about until you're forced to use a computer without it.
@FNi
Steelseris mouse mats are £7 at Amoazon now. Just got a mini one for light gaming. Pretty good.
@FNi
Steelseris mouse mats are £7 at Amazon now. Just got a mini one for light gaming. Pretty good.
If those burgers were cooked on the mousepad, then why do they have grill lines all over them.
@ORiley Good eye
@ORiley OH GOD CAN'T UNSEE
@ORiley
I was wondering the same thing
@ORiley I don't think those are grill marks.. I think that's juicy BACON!!
@Sevchenko I pride myself on my intimate knowledge of bacon and that, sir, is no bacon.
@ORiley If you look closely at the back of the picture you will see the pad is on top of a grill so they probably let the marks burn in and than put on the mouse pad and use that as a conductor for the heat.
I want to see how the iPad stands up to this one!
@ORiley Thank you. That is the first thing I saw, and before I posted something like that, I thought I'd check to see if anyone else noticed. The next picture in the series is that mousepad warping to an unusable shape.
@ORiley It's a magical mousepad LOL
@ORiley
You just owned them
When I saw this the first thing that jumped into my mind was a phat ps3, sorry but its true.
@Eli Haj
This is why, one of the first ps3 pics i saw back in the day when the ps3 was anounced.

And there is a real ps3 grill:

Damn, those burgers look good!
Screw the mousepad I want to know more about those burgers. They look delicious!
I dont have a mousepad. it works fine.
I don't think I'd want to eat hamburgers cooked on teflon, especially when they used a metal spatula.
I thought it was cooking on one of those Nvidia cards lol.
How is this different then a teflon coated cookie sheet?
Looks like the little Lamisil monster got into those hamburgers *shudders*
