Rude Gameware new's Fierce Teflon & Steel Mouse Surface may not have a built-in calculator or USB hub, but it is made of Teflon and steel, which makes it a multipurpose mousepad in its own special way. Still can't justify spending $30 on a mousepad? The next best alternative is as close as your kitchen cupboard.

I agree with the comments on how important a mousing surface is. I have a Ratzpad GS and I love it. It eats teflon mouse skates for breakfast though..I think I will try and check out more reviews on this because if it is a hard plastic one I may be interested.

The mousepad has no grill yet the burgers show parallel grill marks. Anyone who grills knows if you stick a cookie sheet or other flat surface on top of the grill surface, it distributes the heat evenly and the beautiful grill marks are lost.

Way to go Rude Gameware; it's not often Engadget gets faked out and publishes a fake story, photo and all.
