From that picture it doesn't look very high res. Could it have been any more blurry?
@prewreckless
It's a YouTube video. Chill.
@archkron I was speaking of the picture Engadget put up, and it was obviously a joke. Chill.
@prewreckless
Ah, sorry bro, my sarcasm detector's a bit off at the moment.
@prewreckless
that joke was terrible, is that you Leno?
The key thing is that Sprint is putting out good phones. I think I might make the switch soon. Keep pumping out these good phones and win over customers Sprint. Android + Sprint = consumer heaven
@Mike Vick Yeah, I agree. Sprint has definitely stepped up their game I mean the Evo 4G and Epic 4G are serious phones, definitely two of the best. Verizon is definitely got a strong line up as well, it's strange these damn CDMA companies are coming out with amazing phones while AT&T and T-Mobile are slacking so I'm stuck with my Nexus One, which I love and AT&T probably doesn't care because they have the iPhone. I may honestly switch to Sprint soon. Yes, the joke was terrible but a joke none the less and who the hell is Leno?
@prewreckless
In all seriousness why do the better phones come out for CDMA companies? I can see AT&T is tied to the iPhone but what about T-Mobile?
@prewreckless
Too bad no matter how many android phones they put out they still can't compete wtih the IPhone in terms of quality and sales....
Sprint is still losing customers. Not gaining but losing. And lets not even talk about the money side of it.
Consumer heaven for Sprint will soon equal bankruptcy if their current trend continues
@BrookLynnsFinest
I might be hated for my trolling and stupid remarks here (sorry everybody) but seriously, you need to just shut the hell up. I understand you love apple but who cares? I am a troll and i'll be the first to say you're an idiot! I have downranked you... Engadget is telling us about a new phone and you're just hating.
@Mike Vick
I'm not "hating". I'm simply making a comment...
And a true one at that. This phone is semi interesting as a feature phone for teens and stuff (way better than the KIN for example).
However the poster I was replying to was noting how awesome Sprint is and how they are doing such a wonderful job. Well sorry to break it you guys but if Sprint was on this "roll" as you guys clearly believe then why is it not showing up in their quartely reports?
The numbers don't like. Sprint has lost more than any other compoany of the last few years. Despite whoring themselves out for android lately.
That'st he only point I was making. The guy I was replyinig to mentioned AT&T and the iPhone. He was the first to bring it up...not I. I'm simply responding with how I see things.
@BrookLynnsFinest I'm sorry, but what does sales have anything to do with the consumer? I don't think anyone buys their phones based on how many are sold, you may be an exception though. In terms of quality, that's up to the user honestly I can find Android more polished, better, etc while never liking the iPhone and vice versa for an iPhone user. So you enjoy your iPhone, I'll enjoy my Nexus One and we all live happy. Simple. Though Sprint may be losing customers, they're also gaining as well so well see how everything plays out for Sprint.
@prewreckless
With that resolution on a 3.2 inch screen, the pixel density is pretty good.
Paul Miller would approve.
@prewreckless
I like how the focus of the image is on the number "0". The Art of Subliminal Persuasion.
@BrookLynnsFinest
Oh, hey, there you are! I was wondering where you ran off to. What was that you were saying about me and others never responding to your "valid points?" Well, I did, and I never heard back from you.
@BrookLynnsFinest
lmaol are you a fucking idiot??? in terms of quality. So yellow spots on screen, seriously bad antenna problems that's good quality for you??? Wow I wish all phones were like the iphone I am so jealous.
@prewreckless Perhaps you're not familiar with Mr. Blurrycam's work. And yes they could be much more blurry. And by comparison, that's a pretty good quality video.
@BrookLynnsFinest
watch this and shut the hell up!

@BrookLynnsFinest Oh my GOD, you are the worst troll EVER! I've known trolls, and you are complete sh*t. Get off Engadget and get a life you twat.
Better be free.
@pika2000 with froyo
or I might as well get one of those flip phones with a fancy camera
@pika2000
Sprint said future devices launching with Android 2.1 will be upgraded to Android 2.2
@arashed31 You know, everybody is saying that, but so far I only see the Nexus One getting 2.2. I wouldn't hold my breath. Besides, this is Samsung we're talking about. Remember what happened the last time they made that promise?
@pika2000
You do realizes the final code for group was just released within the past week. Be Patient. And Samsung screwed behold users. But t-mobile had a part in that too since Sprint forced them to release a 2.1 update for the Moment and they finally did
@DefPoet Oh please. Why would Samsung want to update their hardware? They have to sell whatever new handset they release in the next 6 months or so. Also, why would Sprint let their handsets be updated with 2.2 + its free tethering feature? But go ahead, keep dreaming while I'm enjoying my Froyo with N1.
@pika2000
You are a dumbass
WiFi tether can be removed from froyo. And Samsung does not care about customers buying phones since the fraking phone phone company buys them from them and then sells them to the customers. Samsung already here paid rather the phones sell or not. its really a shame when people know jack shit about how things work but continue to talk on the subject.
@DefPoet Sure, and calling others names makes you smarter. :rolleyes:
Other than that, you just validated what I said. Here, you said it yourself: "And Samsung does not care about customers buying phones since the fraking phone phone company buys them from them and then sells them to the customers. Samsung already here paid rather the phones sell or not."
Exactly my point. I never said they only sell handsets direct to customers (you/me). In this case, Samsung's "customers" are the wireless carriers. After Samsung got their money, why would they update the OS of those handsets? It doesn't generate any profit for Samsung anymore. On the other hand, Samsung needs to sell whatever newer handsets they're going to release as that is how they get their money.
But go ahead, keep on dreaming that Samsung/Sprint will give 2.2 on their existing devices. And keep up the name calling too, as it seems that it will make you "smarter."
@pika2000
The Evo will be getting 2.2. That's an existing device on Sprint and it's already been confirmed, too.
@pika2000
Your comment just proved my point on you being a Narsacitic egotistical fool
I never said I was smarter. I do have a business degree and understand that every handset Samsung puts out WILL get one upgrade in OS they will do the minimal amount of work to keep customers buying their brand. One OS upgrade is just that.
@pika2000 Are you a moron? Or did you completely miss the article Engadget had on Sprint saying EVO and other phones will get Froyo later this year?
If it's gonna have a screen like that then make it an awesome media player...please?
(divx)
@stridermt2k There's an app for that. No, seriously there is.
@prewreckless
Rock Player is hands down the best media player ever on a handheld device. It plays Everything!!!!!
@DefPoet CorePlayer.
Anybody have an idea what processor is in this thing?
@Caprice Dates It didn't seem very responsive to me so it isn't rocking the Snapdragon. So either an Arm11 at 800mhz like the Moment or an Cortex A8 at 500mhz, hard to tell.
@prewreckless
If that's the case then to me its weak sauce, well I guess your average consumer can have it.
@Caprice Dates I concur why are all the phones using chips with as much processing power as my graphing calculator I mean seriously give me enough power to run a 15 year old desktop OS or give me a hexcore processor phone already
I have a moment and it works pretty good never had a problem with it
It's not bad For the money if you need a hardware keyboard ad resolution is solid. That's one boring video though.
What another "spotted in the wild" android device ?
I feel like mediocre phones like these should be free, like pika2000 said, or should not be developed. Why not drop a 1Ghz processor and improve the camera to 5 or 8 mp? i feel like people should just by a droid equivalent if they want a keyboard. That's why the LG ally didn't sell well at all.
Looks like a slicked up Moment. A bit sexier but appears to be the same phone. I'd take one for $50 but no more.
I like the design.
It's a shame it is running Android before 2.0
@prometeum you mean before 2.1
(in six months I'll say 2.2)
I hope this actually outshines the moments hardware other than the screen. The keyboard looks nice too
when i saw the picture my head went "Wild INTERCEPT appeared" and the pokemon battle music started.
I wish the Epic 4g had the hardware call buttons and touch pad.
Does a screen that small at that resolution rival retina display?
@playaj
As a 16:9.6 resolution, The phone's screen is somewhere near 1.65 inches by 2.74 inches.
Taking either dimension: 480/1.65 = 290 Pixels per inch, which is about 20 pixels per inch fewer than the iPhone 4, but quite frankly unless you are 1/2 inch from the screen, you won't be able to tell the difference.
Taking the other dimension (just to show consistency): 800/2.74 = 291 pixels per inch (difference due to rounding).
