Logitech Revue Google TV box hits the FCC
It may not be reaching consumers until sometime this Fall, but Logitech's Google TV companion box, the Revue, has recently landed in a few important hands: the FCC's. Not much in the way of surprises with this one, but we do at least get a glimpse of the device's internals (check out a shot after the break), and the mystery of the FCC label has been solved at last. Of course, if it's information and excitement you're after, you can always check out our hands-on from Google IO.

@scoobydooby
You mean the HTC EVO?
@DrDr - Yes. EXACTLY like the EVO, but without voice, a screen, 3G, 4G or a $70/month subscription.

I think Google TV is pushing the Digital Living room to another level & Logitech is a natural partner with it's Revue Box, with
in 2010 the logitech High Def. new Web cams +
Logitech Harmony Remotes +
Logitech Sqeezboxes+
Logitech multimedia Keyboards+
Logitech Audio headsets & Speakers+
Logitech in console gaming accessories
lets wait and see the Logitech Google TV accessories

downranked for 7 too many +'s
Has there been any info on how the GoogleTV will interact with media servers on our own LANs?
Bluray ISO's, mkv's, coverart, backdrops, metadata, etc etc...
If this can also replace the upcoming Popbox and such, I might just have to pick up one for every room that doesnt need better sound integration.
@palehorse I'm guessing there will be an app for it.
Please do a review of the revue right away. I beg of you.
If they had called it a Google TV Companion Cube instead of a Companion Box, I would have preordered it.
you guys are missing the point. the real point of this box is to give you easy access to a *real* browser with flash from whatever you're doing on your TV. leave the mkv playing to xbmc.
@solidunit
With its existing hardware, there's absolutely no reason why this thing couldn't also have customizable Media Server functionality to handle all of our in-house media. Hell, they could index the metadata and make it searchable as well! Then every search could produce web results, TV guide results, DVR results, and *gasp* local/network media as well...
Why use two boxes when you could use one?
@palehorse With it being baked on top of android, I'm sure someone will design an app for media center functionality and plug it in to the current search engine in GoogleTV
It is computer/hub with processor power and wired & wireless connectivity, Logitech got more experience from their divisions Wilife (Security system) & Lifesize (Biz Videoconferencing, calling) which most people not familiar with.
Give it a Graphics card, and a Bluetooth chip. Suddenly you'll find its better then all the video game consoles.
I think Logitech if they want they could come up with a great Android Tablets, they have the experience to develop Quality Mobile products & it's accessories.
examples on how Logitech capable company for a great tablet, the Revue for google TV & Harmony 1100 Advanced Universal Remote with Touch Screen or the Squeezebox Touch with Touch Screen & Audiophile Acoustics
@KMGLOBAL you lost me at Harmony 1100.
I’m sorry, I like gadgets and stuff, but I still don’t get Google TV. From what I’ve seen it seems to be some ugly looking set top box interface with a Google search bar in it. Maybe it’s simply a communication problem, since I haven’t fully understood Google Wave either (something like mail and chat but in a browser and different). I like Google, but I don’t think they can express themselves that well.
@Yoshi1080 Well if that's the case, I think it is safe to say you obviously don't go to Google's blogs, or even their products' home pages. They always make some goofy video or long articles explaining immediate features or long term explanations of the point of their products.
They also have elaborate explanations for all their April Fool's ideas.
I think that's pretty much why Google has so much backing is their ability to explain everything well enough to get developers on board. They have one of the biggest open source communites right at their fingertips.
Your inability to understand is simply lack of research.
Some people think its just a coincidence that there are indications that Apple are going to start taking their Apple TV seriously and stop calling it a hobby.
I wonder why !
