Sony CECH-ZVS1 Surround Sound System for PS3 hits Japan on September 30th
More PS3 news from Sony. What was already known to be a fall release has just narrowed to September 30th for Sony's $199 PS3 Surround Sound System -- at least in Japan. As you might recall, this budget Sony soundbar with integrated sub-woofer and S-Force PRO Front Surround technology tethers up snuggly with your PS3 over optical digital supporting Dolby digital, DTS, MPEG-2 AAC and Linear PCM audio formats. Model CECH-ZVS1 then bounces the surround sound off the walls when placed in front of your television. It's not Sony's best soundbar but it's the only one with a matching PlayStation logo. And for some gamers, that's likely all they'll need to know.

sweet
It may not be bad especially at $199. Take a look at a few of the other Sony soundbars though as they have some that come with a separate subwoofer and around the same price as this one.
thats cool, but couldn't i use my own system. could b 1 heck of a bundle, probably with 1 heck of a price tag 2 accompany it
Is this too much for a dorm?
@LOLCATZ
nahhhhhhhhh
I'm sorry, but I'm so tired of hearing about soundbars, and for that matter, any speakers that have these pecker-sized speakers, claiming what they claim.
Simply, these little things cannot move air. They have a sweet spot, yet it is as narrow as Hank Hill's urethra. Big speakers move big air, hence, filling the room with sound. Tech is great, but can only do so much to overcome physics.
Why do people keep buying these shit sound systems? Gimme an older receiver for $50, and some decent Klipsch 6.5" bookshelves for another $250, throw in a sub for another c-note, and I'll rock your room far better than any of this plastic crap with pinhole "speakers".
@Dank Dillweed so like, do you have sand in your vagina?
@Dank Dillweed uprank for the king of the hill reference, bravo clever and well executed
@groovedafied
Normally, I'd dismiss your juvenile comment, but I must say that I WAS at the beach today, and I'm quite certain that I have sand where I shouldn't.
But it would be intriguing as to how sand would get in my urethra, as my reproductive organ swingsoutwardly, largely, and slightly to right. Much more difficult I imagine to get sand up that hole as opposed to a lady's entrance, no?
@Dank Dillweed mine shrivels up when i go to the beach...
@Dank Dillweed Got a Cambridge soundworks dtt2500 for $50 and my aunt gave me a Sony saw subwoofer for free that certainly smacks the crap outta your stereo quip and it's like 10yrs old even
Had to buy an optical converter
I'd love this, but as I live in an apartment, I don't have walls on both sides of my TV. So I assume this won't work.
No Freakin way... that remote has an STD button on it!
Will my Wiimote Condom fit on this?

i want this!
Hm...
Do these really work?
@Torokun That depends on your room size & shape. The smaller & more rectangular they are, the better they sound. Like they say, the sound bounces off the walls to create the surround sound feel. I'm more of a 7.1 guy myself, but I bought a Yamaha soundbar for our master bedroom (wife didn't want speaker wire everywhere) and I'm very happy with it. You hear sounds coming from areas of the room that have no speakers. It gets to be trippy sometimes.
It may be a waste of money but im buying it cause it'll go good with my 60gb...and the logo is all that matter =P
Doesn't most new HDTV do the same thing
@Console fanboy Yep, most new TV's have a feature called SRS TruSurround that does this exact same thing. When I play XBOX or watch DVDs on my Samsung TV with TruSurround on it sounds like there are speakers all around my room.
this is no match for the built in 7.1 (yeah 7.1) suround setup i have in my theater. you cant just have one speaker and expect it to match many.
@stevenseiler225
Really? Can I buy your setup for less than 2 bills and fit it in my small apartment?
This is lovely. I can't wait till it comes to the U.S. I'll hook it up right away for my PS3. Thanks again SONY!
If it's using a Playstation brand, then why does it have a separate remote? Why can't Sony made it so it's usable with PS3's bluetooth remote? How about integrating the sound system's controls to the PS3 itself? Seems like a cheap attempt to sell a generic sound system using the Playstation brand.
